s4xon
Sad day in hockey and for Flames fans all around. Thoughts and prayers go out to the Montador family. Renaud Lavoie @renlavoietvaIt's with sadness that I just learn the passing of Steve Montador. He was 35 years old. tincup1
Wow, very sad. He became such an important player during the '04 run. I'll never forget that goal he scored in San Jose.
tachaudh
Horrible news. First thing I thought of after reading Ian Pulver's tweet was that OT winner. Obviously a lot more than just the loss of a hockey player, though.

JTech780
Very sad news, he was a very good player for Calgary during his time here, a heart and soul player who left everything out on the ice.

Rendogg
Very sad, indeed. He was so young too. I'll never forget that goal he scored for us either.... His beaver tail tap was so loud, and he buried that puck! RIP Steve.

Flamespatriot
I got to meet Steve when I was in grade four, the same year the flames made the finals. He was very kind and funny. I never forgot that meeting. It saddened me deeply when I heard about his passing. RIP Steve, all of flames nation weeps for your passing
CheersMan
I caught a clip on TSN tonight, Gelinas was being interviewed regarding Steve’s passing. They played together on the 04 run. You could tell Gelinas was hurting bad, but there he stood, front and center, sharing his thoughts and memories of Steve. That’s the leadership Gelinas is still providing to this team today. Those teams that go the distance in the SC playoffs form an everlasting brotherhood amongst the players, coaches and management. Rest in peace Steve, and thanks for the memories. JTech780
To make this story even more heartbreaking, his first child was born on Thursday. Andrew Ference has said that being a father had given him a new lease on life. As a father myself this really breaks my heart.
