  1. Honestly, I have to check Capfriendly to make sure I don't forget players! For sure there is a youth movement afoot, but we do have Ruzie, Pelletier, Coronato, Wolf and Duehr to consider before we get to the likes of Poirier and Honzek. Honzek may do enough to get 9 games, but I seriously doubt they want him to play a season. Huska is going to have to balance the desire to use youth with the need for wins. No different than any coach.
  2. The middle class is getting squeezed out by the top earners. If he was being sought after, you would think he would be signed by now.
  3. I don't mind the Suter siging if the money works. Govich is likely rated higher than rookie Coronato, so he should be near top of the lineup. I might be wrong, but maybe Coronato belongs with Kadri. I watched some of him play, and it seemed like he needed a player like Kadri. On defense, assuming we moved out Hanifin, Oesterle would be 6th D. I also think that any Hanifin trade brings back a winger. Oh, you forgot Coleman BTW. Without knowing who comes back, I will just leave out Hanifin for now and not put in Nylander (like the rumor suggests): Huberdeau-Lindholm-Govich Mangiapane-Kadri-Coronato Coleman-Suter-Dube Pelletier-Ruzicka-Duehr Weegar-Ras Kylington-Tanev Zadorov-Oesterle Not a killer lineup, but good. If Hanifin for Nylander transpires, then bump Coronato down to 4RW and Govich to 2RW. A lot of it depends on Mangiapane. He was meh last season, but he was supposedly dealing with injury.
  4. I'm guessing the high ending salary is either scaring off some or the player is wanting too much. Can't see why a team hasn't yet signed him. Worse case, PTO him. Then sign to whatever he shows up as.
  5. There are a few of us faithful Flames fans up here. I am not allowed to publicly name them. Have seen jerseys, car flags and license plates.
  6. My bad. I had been talking to someone at work that was talking about Peter's, but I think it was a pizza joint. BTW, they have Peter's Drive In here in Edmunchuk.
  7. At times he was actually level headed on the Oilers boards. Sure, he was a homer, but was reasonable at times. Here, when discussing actual Flames tuff, he wasn't that bad. JJ ruined him with the photoshop
  8. I focused on Telus because they already advertise with SN. Telus has a budget for social investment, and while that's not specifically social responsibility, it can help drive more community involvement.
  9. That type of motivation seems more like a Sutter type thing, no? I suspect we have few "bunnies" that will hold their own this year.
  10. I am actually surprised that ATB or Telus haven't paid for naming rights yet. Telus Future Friendly Arena in Calgary as opposed to the Rogers (insert name for arena or stadium or field). Or the TFFA for short. No worse than Climate Pledge.
  11. I can't tell from your comments and the pic if you are being sarcastic or not. Which coaches are familiar with the ELC's and chepa contracts?
  12. IIRC, Bronco was one of the few (like Anie) that posted balanced Oilers and Flames stuff. He went over the edge at some point though. At least he was not as much of a homer on Oiler boards. Can't locate any references on here now. The one we all laughed about was ConnorFutureGM, who was on long before McD was ever drafted. He was right up there with the Flames troll Mac331 (changed his name may be still lurking).
  13. ^^^^ It was a classic troll. The Hockey Writers clickbait special. Looks like you edited the tread a bit?
  14. I don't think there is an arbitrary date like that. One would assume that they know a little about the thought process of the player. There was no rejection of the offer. So, they are likely proceeding as if he will sign or let them know he's not signing or wants a different offer. They would listen to trade offers, but if the offers are not close to par value, they will just ignore them for now. TC gives them the chance to show what the team looks like, so Lindholm has a better idea. By then you are more likely to have conclusion to the two players that have signalled they want to move. Aho is the ceiling of a deal, so he knows what he would get elsewhere. But I think this is about team and direction more than the offer.
  15. Perhaps he is thinking about the string of coaches we have had during his time here.... BP (quit), Wardo, Sutter, now Huska who has been with all 3.
  16. 6 years is close to ideal. Maybe 4 or 5 slightly better, since the cap will make a $9M AAV seem average.
  17. You mean like a 33 year old Killorn with similar numbers gets over $6M x 4? Just kidding. I get what you are saying. Then again Gaudreau messed up his contract by holding off. I do suspect that he is looking for a team (if not here) that will give him a similar offer now to what we offered.
  18. We made the offer to Lindholm. If it's the team direction holding his decision up, make a decision about the direction. So far, I have really only seen a quasi direction from Maloney.
  19. I would sign Dumba as soon as Backlund is gone. Doesn't mean we don't trade Hanifin, in fact it pushes Hanifin out. Means we can just look at a deal that gets us top 6 F and/or top picks. Dumba actually balances the D between top and bottom. Leaves Oesterle fighting between Kylington and injury replacement. Not a bad thing. Tarasenko would have been a good try out piece. One year deal and we get a top return for him at TDL. Or we take him into the playoffs and don't worry about an asset that cost only salary to get. Again, it appears that we are frozen in fear. Takes two to tango, but seems like we are unwilling to make any kind of trade. Sure it also can take time, but it's not a luxury we have once the season starts. Backlund and Hanifin will become a distraction for the coach (pairs) and the players (do I re-sign?).
  20. I would add, that doing nothing this summer also impacts the signing of Lindholm, who would likely sign if the team showed it was intent on winning. Not just now but for a stretch of most of the years they want to sign him to. Sitting on pending UFA's doesn't show much more than just rolling it back. Yeah it makes sense to hold onto some until TDL, but not all.
