I'm okay with the two new players. We always seemed undersized in the D-zone. Coleman isn't huge, but [plays a big man's game. Zaddy will be a player you love and hate. We lost that in Bennett, and Tkachuk at times looks a little lost (play on the edge or back off). As much as I love Tkachuk, I do find he gives up at times. I remember a game where he dove and gave away a goal that he could have impacted.

I hate losing. Detest tanking. I was not happy about an unprotected 1st for Hamonic at all. While I reflect on my post, I was dumb. Trading for Eichel would need to be a protected 1st or we would implode.

With that logic, we should sign Jones as goalie and trade for a broken Eichel. 1st overall guaranteed.

I'm a little concerned about the remaining choices.

Okay. Grrr. Mrazek signed in the Big Smoke.

CAR signing Freddie and Raanta. WPG signed Comrie, but that is more an AHL deal. Halak going to VAN. Elliott going to TBL. Brossoit is available.

Lucic may not be on the way out, but if I had to guess I would say something in the works with Tkachuk.

Played as depth in TBL. Only has 6 years in the league. Hyman a career high of 41.

Well, if you believe the scuttlebutt, Eichel is coming for Tkachuk. Means we have available choices of Mangiapane and Gaudreau and Lindholm for top 6. Maybe he's not a top 6 player, but he could be.

The latter is where I feel it was bad. Barrie was cheaper than a lot, but gives them no defense. Keith is mostly washed up. Ceci, I feel, is one of the worst D available. On the plus side, they now have one bottom 6 forward.

Regardless of how he stacks up against Hyman, I like the terms better.

EDM supposedly trading Bear for Warren Foegele. What a shame.

The cap hit will define this. He's a competent defender at 5v5. I hated playing us against him, as will a lot of players. Hyman will enjoy playing against him.

Yeah, that is my worry about him (LHS). Hyman made more sense to us. My guess is Coleman something close to $5m x 6 years if he comes to CGY. I don't see us going higher, maybe term could be 7, but I don't see any higher a cap hit.

Kylington can play RD, but I would look for an upgrade. Mackey is exempt, so he can stay in the AHL to get better.

Mackey or Kylington is currently 6 on the depth chart. I would imagine they would like an upgrade to RD for 3rd pairing.

The only saving grace is that is may allow Valimaki some breathing room to grow. Not really sure which partner would be best for him. As a partner for Ras, you could expect more offense from Ras. Don't see the fit with Stone or Tanev.

And done according to CJ. Any idea of the terms?

I like the move myself. Doesn't provide offense, but we lacked bite in our end. Not sure of the trade terms though.

He's a broken clock.... He has said some things that do come to pass.

As a LW, he would make some sense if we were trading Lucic. But, I would prefer to have a higher skill than a higher grit level. Suter is going to take his time, with so many teams showing interest. As far as the Pacific, I hope that the Oilers blow all their cap on longer deals. Hyman and Barrie. Take a few risky deals like Turris was last year.

There is some trade talk between CAL and CHI re Zadorov, so the McCabe thing may be done. Well, at 10am that is.

Sutter sounds like he is staying in VAN. Pius Suter has a lot of takers. Kase is a risky but rebound target. I would prefer McCabe, but Zadorov is a type we could use. Ritxhie and Poolman have family connections. If anything, I hope that some teams overpay and re forced to make cap deals. PITTS sounds like they want to get rid of Zucker and Pettersson. I'm not sure about Petterson, but would it make sense for Lucic trade?

Max term takes him to 35. A far cry from Gio's 38. Not much chance, so I'm not really considering it.
