  1. I love how EDM fans think they got a far superior player over what he get in Coleman. Somehow $5.5 x 7 is a steal and $4.9 x 6 is taken to the cleaners.
  2. Apart from position and playoff success, Gaudreau has more points per game (0.95) played than Point (0.88). I don't think he should get Point money, but I think he's closer to that than Landeskog money.
  3. The downside is Point, who just did $9.5m. Not the same player, but Kucherov on your line does help.
  4. Done as far as UFA signings perhaps. I think we have to go easy until we know what trades we may do. You don't sign a guy to play with Monahan or Tkachuk if you are perhaps dealing one of them. Johnny wasn't going to sign bfore his NTC kicked in. It doesn't worry me. Stone is a easy/cheap/lazy move. He doesn't make anyone better and is an okay player. We lost offense from the D and only added a defensive player.
  5. When was Bennett high value that we didn't still have hope? How do you trade Gio at the right time when you just had the best seasob in many many years? We had been trying to get Iggy a C for as long as he played here. Traded by another GM after he said he would gve the squad a year, since they had earned it. Are you still going on about the expansion draft and Reinhart? If Buffalo didn't want what we had to offer, what do you do? Add a better player? Does the idea of paying Reinhart $7m to be a complentary player warm you up? Losing a 1st for him? I will be critical when BT makes trades that I don't like or signs a player I hate. He's done it, so I don''t have blind faith. Part if the job a GM needs to do well is negotiate deals. Easy to do that in Tampa, when players are willing to take a pay cut. And taxes work in your favor. Not so easy to do the right thing if owners have any say in who gets dealt. I think there are things BT may not be allowed to do. Was Gio one of them? It's one thimg to not spend assets to keep, but another thing to trade him.
  6. Well, we have tried small and faster. Tried big with minor skill. We went big on D and backup and depth, while we went skilled and plays big up front. Waiting to see what plans we have to fill out the roster and any possible trades....
  7. ^^^^^ Bear had the trust but had a down year. I'm sure there is a bit of blame from the playoffs too. Too bad, since I thought he was prett solid. Maybe not $2m solid, but something like a good Kulak. Smith is an injury waiting to happen and they didn't solve the backup/starter position. Skinner is "the goalie of the future" yet he almost lost a blowout in Ottawa, where the Oilers needed 8 to be sure to win. Hyman and Foegele are good adds. Ryan gives them a RHS C, better than what McLeod provided but I think he is starting to fade. Did they solve the depth issue at F, which is what they were supposed to do? Lost Khaira and most likely Kahun.
  8. Boy, we went big on players. Two big D for the farm. A big goalie for the farm. I wonder who they look at for 3rd pair RD. Stone is probably waiting by his phone, but there has to be something else... TBH, I think BT's next move is a trade. Monahan or Tkachuk for an overpay by some team.
  9. I believe Vegas has negative room for any other signings. Sure they can do like they did last summer and trade from a position of weakness after signing Pietrangelo... $1.7m of projected LTIR used. I think they are done tweaking.
  10. Buyers remorse tomorrow for a bunch of GM's. Buffalo's depth is putrid right now. At this point they would need to trade for Monahan just to ice a NHL line. But, the point is other GM's that were banking on Eichel or a big fish lost out. We have to sign our RFA's. And get a couple of depth guys or determine who is ready or a fit.
  11. Wow, the Oilers have spent every last cent without even signing Foegele and Yamamoto. Sure they can use LTIR and bury Turris, but do you really want to be on LTIR life support all season long.
  12. The loss of Ryan is a bit of a shame, especially to EDM. Perhaps it's just me, but it seemed like he lost a step from two years ago, when he lost the 3C spot to Bennett (injury at the time). He's still good on the dot, but his size was a bit of a liability some nights.
  13. That's a relief. Not sure which lne, but he should be effective here. On another note, scratch the other 3rd rounder for a Czech goalie from the Bruins - Vladar. Seems to have decent AHL numbers, and he is HUGE. Signed for a few years at $750k AAV.
  14. Did you expect Ritchie to play 82 games? Pitlick is moveable up and down. I almost expect Ruzicka to be the 3rd member this year. A lot depends on the rest of the summer.
  15. That's an odd one. Don't mind it at that price, but is that an alternate to Ritchie?
  16. Saw it on twitter. I was thinking Hyman, but Yamamoto is even more of a mismatch. Oleksiak in Seattle. Things got tough on the little guy. He's not like Gaudreau that can mostly avoid hits. Also, Oilers have nobody to step up to protect their stars. Khaira gone and Kassian afraid to hit now.
  17. I think that many teams would have easily paid what we got for him. The term may not have been where teams were willing to go. This has less risk than the Hyman deal. I'm sure that suits EDM, since they want to win now. That said, they did say they would take incremental steps. Instead they went full on win now. Bear for Ceci. Barrie for Larsson. Keith for Klefbom and Jones.
  18. Danault signed for 5.5 x 6 in LA. Reimer and Jones both signed for $2m or more. The exchange of players this year has been insane.
  19. Grubauer goes to Seattle. Yikes. Rittich goes to Nashville; good for him.
  20. Baertsci signed by VGK. Khaira signed by CHI ($975k). Ferland will not play again.
  21. The business side is important to the owner. The GM made a stupid pick based on an assessment of the player, nothing about the team, other players, families, etc. He was not getting drafted by anyone else. The owner would have told the GM to fly a kite if he asked first.
  22. EDM's backend Nurse-Barrie Keith-Ceci Russell-Bouchard Klefbom/Lagersson Yikes
  23. Blew their spending dollars. They have like $2m + LTIR for some of the season (Klefbom). Holland said they need to be complaint on day one, so I think they basically are done. They gave up the ability to buy anyone else out when they didn't qualify the RFA's. Maybe Foegele goes for arbitration. Still need to re-sign Yamamoto and Foegele. What a mess.
  24. Molson released a statement basically saying they were sorry about making the pick. He won't be invited this year to camp and has to earn his way into the good books. Molson has a lot of damage control to get out of trouble. They are at least doing something about it.
