Should have traded him in the offseason prior to this season maybe? I dunno if the offers then were any better than this, but you'd think it would have been?
No that agent and his i
want to go to TB BS screwed this

This is not a good return

Maybe Flames will announce Markstrom to CAR before we get the details on the Hanifin trade.
🤣🤣🤣
but wrt Hanifin, I think it’s a 2025 first, can’t see them sending their 2024 first when they are hosting the draft

Like I've said ..be prepared to be underwhelmed ...but...it does sound like Connie is busting his hump to make this a solid return .with one of the smartest in the business across the table
I have heard rumblings on social
media (yes poor sources) but the rumblings seem to say Ednstrom is definitely going to Cgy…again reliable sources no but they are talking like it’s definitely happening…id
like to see a formal announcement that endstrom and a first…everything after that is gravy
-
Ok now if they can confirm Endsrtom with the 1st and Miro…that’s a fair return, currently it’s a bit light…common confirm Endstrom already!

Zary will be back from IR and Pospisil will return from suspension before they finish the deal.

Pretty bad that we have people still posting the trade with players but not even mentioning the one player that is suppsosedly in the deal. I doubt that the Russian D is the piece that gets them enough cap space or contract numbers to finalize it. Would need someone like Hague to make the cap better for them, if they want to make more deals. That player alone shouldn't be the main piece either.
You would think this…but hard to say…phi got a 1st+ cap dump
in Johnson…one would think Hanifin should fetch mor
than a 26 year old
Russian D

So, the trade was sent to the nhl and they told LVK they need to find a 3rd party to take salary? Maybe they thought Cgy retention was enough with using LTIR but it fell
short So now They are scrambling to
find a 3rds party willing to take salary but maybe it’s a heft price since they need it, maybe LVK is shopping around 3rd party brokers for the best deal?
the thing that doesn’t make
sense here is why then is Hanifin to LVK confirmed but not the final return? Something is not
adding up
-
Well this is the only detail of the trade and no mention in this of more to it…I hope this is not the final:

Or Pat Brisson doing Pat Brisson things?
The agent? He’s kinda been an issue as of late complicating trade for Cgy anyway

I hope so. Since you cannot put trade conditions on re-signing a player. Maybe the hold up is VGK is negotiating an extension with Hanifin for a few hours. Then we get the final trade call.
But why? If it’s a rental trade Hanifin and LVK work it out. If it’s a sign and trade they would have had this kinda figured out already and the returns would be pretty much in place…at least there would be an idea of the return outside of the AHL D player we know as part of the return, and why would the roster spot matter so much? Still thinking it’s much more than the extension and retention..

The Fan thinks Maybe they are negotiating an extension on Hanifin's contract. And it's taking a bit to work it out a bit... Some salary negotiations take awhile...
if true is this effecting the return? And if so why not wait on getting that sorted out first? Not making much sense…the extension unless it’s a sign and trade which effects the return, otherwise it’s a rental
trade and Hanifin and LVK work it out…
My guess is blockbuster 3 team move with LVK, NJD and Cgy with Markstrom going to NJD, Hanifin to
LVK and Cgy??

Hill has been better than Markstrom, just hasn’t been healthy. Vegas just signed Hill to a big extension, they have no need or reason to trade for Markstrom.Like I said unlikely but you never know…haven’t seen this kinda delay in trades before…something is odd, definitely more to this than meets the eye….
It’s gonna be either a horrible trade for Cgy or it’s gonna be great…hopefully the later.
this 3rd party team has me also wondering, maybe it’s NJD, maybe Tofolli to LVK too he’s a
RW like they are looking for…Marky to NJD and who knows what Cgy gets? This could explain the need to clear roster room for the deal?

Essentially I think Calgary trades Hanifin to the third team while retaining 50% and then the third team trades him to Vegas and retains 50% of the rest of the contract...
maybe they're working out what that third team gets in the deal?
This seems very likely

They don’t need Markstrom.Don’t mean they may want him anyway…hill hasn’t been as good as Marky…unlikely but you never know with LVK…
Just now, Thebrewcrew said:Maybe Mangiapane would be someone they have interest in, but that would require retention.
If Manji was a RW I could see it…maybe they want Coleman he’s a RW, on a good contract and term…also having a crazy good year..
-
Mmm i wonder if LVK is trying to get Markstrom too? This could end up being a blockbuster which would Explain the lack of info
-

Gives them flexibility. Apparently they want to add a winger still, without being right at the 50 contract max.
Even still, they were only adding Hanifin…so there are more pieces in play…either by 3rd party or between LVK and Cgy otherwise they could have moved nearly anyone for a late pick to
clear roster space
-

Vegas is at 49/50 contracts.
They are still looking to add by all indications.
Could explain Miromanov’s inclusion as well
What like they are just trying to shed him now to clear extra
roster spot? If so that’s a nice throw in add or is there more going to LVK from Cgy or 3rd party?

We're only allowed to retain so much (either $$$ or # of players), I think
I think it’s 3 players per year and up
to 50% I think?

Just now, robrob74 said:
Oh! A third party team! To retain.
Ha that too could be the hold up
-
This is odd, I really get the feeling the deal is happening but it’s pending on if Hanifin extends…
the 2024 first seems odd, LVK is the draft host any chance it’s the 2025 first?

they know they need a goalie. I don't think he is off the table for them yet...Maybe in the summer but have the feeling not this TDL

Maybe they get additional assets to make another stab at a Markstrom deal
Or and more probable, that’s not happening now

They need to do the leg work on the trade, like salary retention.
For some reason it gets reported before the agreed return is finalized.
No this is odd, seems like something else holding it up…if it’s a sign and trade they are working out with retention I could see
