  1. I’ve never understood the “Brzustewicz wouldn’t sign in VAN” CHL players have very little leverage. He would have had to re-enter the draft and in most cases players that re-enter get picked later or not at all. I’ve always viewed it as justification for VAN dealing him. He was probably their #3 prospect.
  2. I've seen Eiserman compared to Wahlstrom. Both played for the NTDP, pure goal scorers and offer little else. Interesting comp, probably a bit of a concern.
  3. Michael Hage https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/597678/michael-hage
  4. Quite a bit of time for Strome to pick his spot there. It’s a tough one. If he stops it, probably an incredible glove save
  5. The Flames have done a decent job in College FA. Your rarely going to get star players, but you can find bottom six players. For free. Hathaway, Lomberg, Duehr. Bottom six guys with some edge.
  6. I'm not ever gonna be one to boo players, that's just not me. But I get why Tkachuk and Gaudreau will get booed. It's pretty simple it's because them leaving hurt the fanbase. Hanifin is a good player, but it's weird for a player like him to get booed.
  7. Big picture, games like these are really important for Wolf. Proof that he can play really well at this level. I would like a top ten pick, but if they're gonna play Wolf games like tonight are 1000% more beneficial than draft position. The Flames have what other rebuilding teams like MTL do not. A legit top prospect goalie.
  8. I agree. I would be very surprised if a 1st is on the table this summer. I’m thinking 2nd+
  9. I need to watch more of Buium, it’s not all thay easy to watch college games in Canada though. Cant argue with the counting stats, they are excellent. But worth noting that Denver is a stacked team. Right now they have 12 drafted NHL players, not including Buium. Not questioning his skill because from the little I’ve seen, he’s got tons of it, but the production is probably inflated. Example being, Massimo Rizzo, Flyer property has a pt/g of 1.57. Plenty of help for Buium.
  10. I agree they don’t. Minnesota and STL are playing real well. It’s no guarantee they make it
  11. Only if they play EDM. I think they should be real concerned though. They may not even make the playoffs. Math favours them to a degree, but it’s a team that’s not played well for three weeks
  12. Been able to watch him quite a bit since the trade. He's really good. Was probably VAN's #3 prospect. His defensive game is better than he gets credit for. Probably needs a year with the Wranglers, which isn't a bad thing. Him and Honzek should make the jump to pro next year.
  13. Pronman with the Athletic released his rankings 2-5 all D. Silayev, Dickinson, Yakemchuk, Levshunov Eiserman at 13th and Iginla at 16th. Lower on those two than most. Personally, I think Tij goes in the 9-13 range. Son of a hall of famer, 46 goals right now as a draft eligible. Also has Parekh at 9, which I think is fair.
  14. Blues helping the Flames tonight. Puts them four up on the Flames. Anyway, Berkly Catton notched his 50th of the year last night, shorthanded. WHL Highlight of the Night – March 12, 2024 - Western Hockey League (chl.ca)
  15. I think we could see a really disengaged flames team down the stretch. Their best players are veterans, if they mail it in, I wouldn’t be surprised. Bedard alone, makes the Chicago game more difficult. Anaheim has young skill, I wouldn’t look past that. SJ is bad, but as others have said, they smacked the Flames last month.
  16. Yes, I think there is benefit in that. it happens in the NFL. New Orleans made a trade with Philly. Traded their first the next year to get a 1st in that years draft. Trade ended up working quite well for Philly, they ended up getting a better pick, just had to wait a year. NHL GM’s are real conservative though, not sure we will see that happen
  17. It’s gonna be a death march to the end of the year. They’ve played three of the best teams in the past three games, but the way they’ve gotten clobbered. I think we may see some guys check out sooner than later. I can’t say I’m surprised, they don’t have an NHL caliber blueline and they don’t have elite talent up front.
  18. I feel For Vladar. He’s been absolutely hung out to dry the last two games
  19. I only consider Dickinson safe because he’s a guy you can pencil into your top 4 for ten seasons and feel good about it. I would be really surprised if he doesn’t have a long career. Not sure that he’s going to put up eye popping stats as an NHLer but you’re going to be getting a well-rounded defender. The way the game has shifted, it’s hard to find defenceman at the top of drafts that can actually defend. I like Yakemchuk. Not the biggest fan of his skating, but you can’t argue with the production. He also plays with an edge too. There’s value in that, he can play on any pair. Offensive touch with a little snarl. I think I would have him right there with Buium, just outside the top ten.Of course as you said, RD might elevate his stock.
  20. Makes sense. Here's my take on the real bad teams. CHI/SJ- I think both would prefer a forward. Especially, Chicago. ANA- RHD, as you said. Set in the middle with Carlsson/McTavish and for now, Zegras. CBJ- I think a centre. I could see them taking a homerun swing on a Cayden Lindstrom. MTL/BUF/OTT- give me a ton of troubles trying to project. Buffalo's entire forward group is almost exclusively 1st rounders, RHD , makes sense like you said. MTL I would go with the highest skill guy available. There's a negative connotation with a "safe pick" but that's what I think Dickinson is and I mean it in the best way possible. I think the floor is a Hanifin type where you can roll him out there 20 mins a night. A reliable, top 4 guy at minimum. A guy like Parekh is either going to be an excellent player, or he won't stick in the league. There's so much variance with him.
  21. Gaudreau-Lindholm-Tkachuk was a lot of fun to watch. For all three to score 40 was incredible. The second line wasn’t as formidable but still had Mangiapane and his 35 goals. 06-07 comes to mind as well. Iginla, Tanguay, Huselius and Langkow all with 70+
  22. I think it would be tough to pass on Catton. Really high end skill. Gonna score 50 goals and 100pts on a team that’s not very talented. I really like the defence at the top of this class though. Sam Dickinson is real high on my wish list
  23. I’m fine with the Flames not taking that Avs offer. The difference between picks 25-60 is often times, minimal.
  24. Consecutive beatdowns drop the Flames from 14th to 12th. 3 points separate 8th-13th. NJ and Buffalo are young teams, they feel like they'll finish ahead of Calgary. Pittsburgh is horrible right now.
