  1. I was cheering for the Florida Lomberg's, but now he's hurt. The problem with the Leafs in is you hear very little about any other series. Then if the Leafs win it's because they're great, lose because they're awful. The competition has very little to do with it. It's altogether painful commentary. Question, is Holl a horrible dman or have the fans effectively run him out of town? They won't re-sign him, no doubt in my mind. He's ALWAYS the go-to scapegoat. What a toxic fanbase.
  2. Oh no, but what if I want some of them traded?
  3. My shot at Dmen: 1. David Reinbacher R 6'2"/189 2. Axel Sandin-Pellika R 5'11"/181 3. Dmitri Simashev L 6'4"/201 4. Tom Willander R 6'1"/179 5. Maxim Strbak R 6'2"/198 6, Mikhail Gulyayev L 5'10"/170 7. Caden Price L 6'1"/181 8. Oliver Bonk R 6'1"/176 9. Theo Lindstein L 6'/181 10. Luca Cagnoni L 5'10"/172 11. Cam Allen R 5'11"/190 12. Lukas Dragicevic R 6'2"/181 19. Hunter Brzustewicz R 6'/187 20. Gavin McCarthy R 6'1"/181 21. Quinton Burns L 6'1"/179 22. Andrew Fortescue L 6'3" My guess is 1-7 potential rd 1; 8-15 rd 2 16-22 rd 3 but a few sneaking into rd 2. I'll attempt a rd 2 as well, I'm about half done. Just so everyone can see how badly I suck.lol
  4. That concern is non-existent. Scouts run drafts, GMs are just figureheads. There are examples of existing GMs getting scouts to focus on particular players for a season (Yzerman-Seider) but a new GM isn't changing how you've scouted this draft class for the last couple of years. Even Burke coming in as PoHO wasn't touching that. Owners and new GMs aren't strong-arming your scouts unless you want an exodus. How many GMs have we heard say, "I leave it to our scouts". Even BT saying, "If I didn't take Mangiapane, Doran would have punched me". So I have to call this inventing a scenario.lol Another one is crediting/discrediting a GM for drafting. That is all on your scouting dept. A GM foots the blame when they have a lousy scouting dept, that's about it. We have a great scouting dept, no one's over-riding them. They'll just go work for someone else. Good scouts are in high demand.
  5. Dube plays a stronger game on the right. I've been pleading for Huberdeau-Lindholm-Dube since the signing and have yet to see it. Sutter was busy gifting Toffoli every prime seat he could think up. If I were Toffoli, I'd be really happy with Sutter too.
  6. Fixed thanks! He'll likely be the 1st D gone by the looks of the chatter. It will be difficult for us to make a bad pick at 16. I could argue for about 6-8 players that are likely available. Likely comes down to interviews and which type of skill weakness/consistency that you think can be overcome. In the same vein of Danielson, Yager, I'd also look at wingers Ritchie and Musty. Have to consider Yager is likely a winger in the NHL and Danielson a Top 9C that you hope will be Top 6. I think the other 3 are top 6 for wing. Ritchie maybe slightly behind Yager and Musty, but a more complete toolbox. It's always fun to go back and read past scouting reports to get a sense of the mushy middle of potential vs reality. https://smahtscouting.com/2020/09/22/scouting-report-connor-zary/
  7. Woah. I only suggested irony.lol
  8. It's definitely a really cool piece of work. Buddy's done a great job of laying rankings across the season.
  9. I almost have a D only list I'll post. I'll do 20 I think, that would prolly cover 3 rds. Reallty wish we could recoup a 3rd or 2. There are some dark horses there for sure. This guy built a neat little trending tool worth checking out: https://piyer97.shinyapps.io/NHLDraft2023/
  10. Kylington's return announcement coincides with Sutter's departure. Ironic?
  11. Might be a good time to add in that he's done that with plenty of help from the AHL's version of Vasilevsky. Not to take away from him, but that's an important factor. Is the team top of the league without Wolf?
  12. Let's be greedy. How about a rd 2 Josi as well?
  13. Lardis' Peterborough to Hamilton trade raises suspicions. Not great on a good team to lights out on a terrible team. He got the usage that he couldn't earn on the Petes perhaps.
  14. I kind of look at it as sets of 5 players, then 11-21, 22-35, 36-50. As in, I think anyone in each set can go anywhere in that range. I'm sure scouting teams will be having pretty heated discussions. It really has to come down to that vain attempt at speculating what the progression looks like.
  15. Pretty much on the same page. I'm running out of caring. That was a lot of people's SCF flushed down the toilet yesterday. Betting sites just cleaned house as usual.lol
  16. So, so, there! Aches contract and starve your supple joints! That there should be small love amongst these sweet knaves, And all this courtesy! The strain of man's bred out Into baboon and monkey -Holland reciting Shakespeare probably
  17. For fun...imagine the conversations... MP: Dude, what do I have to do to impress your old man? Brett: I have no idea.
  18. Just another list... Pretty much locked in but the bottom 10is subject to change due to players 33 to 40.lol I've viewed most of what was possible by streaming, interviews and shift-by-shift highlights as opposed to just highlights. The joy of foreign languages is that you have to watch.lol 1. Connor Bedard - R C 2. Leo Carlsson - L W/C 3. Adam Fantilli - L C 4. Will Smith - R C 5. Matvei Michkov R W 6. Colby Barlow L W 7. Daniil But R W 32. Maxim Strbak R D *edit Just to qualify, I think I still have Michkov too high. He's only in the K because Sochi is terrible. I can't really buy the hype. Not saying he isn't a great prospect, but I was expecting something closer to Bedard rather than Perron. I'm not applying teams, so I'm not saying the Flames should draft Smash, but he should go first rd. He's knocked for O production, which means almost zero to me with Dmen. I think that I'm overrating Michkov, Sale and Pellikka currently. Perron is tiny, and like Gaudreau without being like Gaudreau's game, he's an original that just sees the game differently. So fun to watch. It'll be interesting to see how he does at UND. Carlsson and Fantilli are pretty much a tie for me. Edge to Carlsson for rolling into the SHL with a real presence and ripping through J20 like he's wasting his time at 16-17. The next Malkin is not a stretch at all.
  19. I just don't see it. My own opinion is Kadri was blowing off steam and talking angry faster than thinking in reflection. It happens. Reporters love a rant. Have a good summer, let it go, come back ready.
  20. At 56:45 in this clip. Vancouver blog show akin to Boomer & Warrener. https://www.sekeresandprice.com/april-26-2023-darren-dreger-jim-mullin/ I am in complete agreement re THW, total hacks. I was more hoping to shoot down the source. I had tracked this before tmac brought it up. Instantly thought of Kadri whether or not that is fair. But yeah. And it's equally important to hold the wonderful hockey reporters accountable for the Satoshi Nakamoto they spout off. I do love the, "thought there was going to be change" line.lol Yeah, last offseason was astronomical change. I'm all for turning all of this negative crap around. The owner sucks, Sutter sucks, the new guys suck, everybody sucks. I get it. But nothing sucks like being mired in negativity. Nothing is ever as bad as it appears, we just pretend it is.
  21. Oh I agree. Somebody ran their mouth off about it to the annoying media that loves to pile on the negativity. That's what I meant in my initial comment of empty threat. It's a stupid thing to say, be a professional. Unfortunately I'm stuck on whether to believe it due to one player specifically. Unfortunately, I can see that being said. I agree with you. The story didn't imply a trade request but a refusal to play under contract. Again, it's idiotic and I'm hardly defending it or thinking that it's a remote possibility.
  22. This is disingenuous. Nobody here is making it up. Dreger did. We're just discussing it. Whether or not we like Dreger is fairly irrelevant vs he's considered at least halfway decent. We're not driving that take, just discussing it. The toxic atmosphere is likely several factors. But what Dreger is pinpointing is players vs Coach. Really, it comes down to, is anyone taking responsibility to grab this Satoshi Nakamotoshow by the horns? Or do we just keep running with this swell of complaining not being addressed?
  23. U18 semi's folks. Slovakia vs USA now, Canada vs Sweden 11am MST. Can't stress enough that the US team plays together all year so have a very distinct advantage over everyone. They should win. And if they don't....well...
  24. Well Satoshi Nakamoto. Out-goalied and Kyrou needs to remember that he's a dman and not a winger.. Game 1 goes to London, 4-1. Sarnia took the 1-0 lead by finishing a rebound, then they started trying to be pretty with rebounds. London's fast, Sarnia's D(Kyrou particularly) giving up inexcusable 2-on-1s. OHL reffing is horrendous, though not blaming it. Pastujov took a hard crosscheck behind the net and got a penalty for it. I think because London already took 2 penalties and the refs needed to start evening up. London plays Hunter hockey, penalties everywhere if the game is called correctly. Sarnia took 2 more penalties for dmen knocking down London players being overly-aggressive on smothered pucks. Not crosschecks or infractions at all. So, and believe it or not I don't believe this is bias...London plays a pretty dirty game while the refs try to keep the calls even. We may not have a chance if we can't just have a game reffed by the rulebook. But OHL reffing is generally horrendous on a good day. Quick reviews are 5 mins. Half of them leave even the commentators baffled, even if it favours their team. Watch any OHL game and you'll agree. It's bizarro-world when it comes to officiating. Reviews are littered with contradictions to the point that you'll have zero idea what you're certain about. You stop guessing. Just give it the, "here we go" and wait 10 minutes for some bizarre result without explanation half the time. It definitely takes my edge off of NHL reffing. OHL reffing is easily the worst you'll see anywhere.
  25. Maybe it was a line thing and Kadri's so miserable because he misses the drunk Russian escorts? Okay, that's out of line...
