It's a silly superstition. We're a different team this year. Let's be different ourselves and call shutouts. Won't always be right, as I've shown. But will be sometimes. Other teams fans will be, "holy crap, their fans say shutout during the game".lol Dare to be different. Our team is being a lot different than everyone pegged us. Let's have fun with it.

Probably a good time to mention. For all of their really good firepower, the Jets have 5 goals in their last 5 games. Let's hope we keep tormenting Paul Maurice. He can't be far away from getting fired. They have a lot of firepower in their top 6. Connor-Schefele-Ehlers Copp-Dubois-Wheeler However Maurice is doing it now. Their PK has scoring threats also.

I took my own hiatus after watching the team be incredibly frustrating. I knew I was just going to post negative negative negative so I just put it away. When I first came back, I was slanting really negative again. But thankfully I put that to bed as everyone was ragging about BT breaking up the core. What really annoyed me was our bottom 6 and our D. I kinda said to myself, "Self, he's trying to fix the things that you hated the most". So I ran with that. I really like the adds. The whole, "doesn't move the needle" talk I thought was bs. The core wasn't really the problem in my mind. The constant PTO signings annoyed the crap out of me. Just get NHLers. Done deal, it's been a big difference. I'm enjoying this ride and I'm glad to not be whining constantly. It gets exhausting.lol When I took the Flames to win the division, I wasn't being a homer. I truly believed we'd be a hard, physical team in a soft division. It's playing out even better than I thought so far. I thought it may take 20 games or so. Where you'd think keeping up that style of play would wear down our side, I think it actually gets easier as everyone knows their roles and expectations, it becomes good habits, rather than frustrating work. The big bonus is zero people grinding on, "this team has no identity". That was very true. Now it isn't. I don't think anyone cared, win or lose. We just wanted to see a consistent, hardworking team. That's what we have now. I love it. Sutter's 3 things to NHL success: 1. Goaltending 2. High end talent 3. Depth We don't have #2 in spades, but 1 & 3 are solid.

Home ice advantage is only that if the fans are jacked and loud. The players loved the NYR game atmosphere. Home needs to be home, and fans need to be jacked. Big difference in US and Canada crowds. US fans are having a fun night out. Canadian fans are too tensed up, self-conscious and act like they're only watching to give their critique. It's entertainment, go wild! Makes it way more fun. Gets the players jacked too.

The joys of success is that we get to let these guys ferment longer, which is never a bad thing. I really like that Duehr got some time with the big club. It can only help his game to see what the big club is doing and take it back to the guys in the A so they know what to expect.

It is all about checking. The team exceeds my expectations although I expected us to be a lot more competitive coming in. I've always been quick to praise the offseason moves. Not Gud at all, but my hat goes off to him. We have a competitive bottom 6 for the first time in forever. Real NHL players. Everyone plays the same. Checking and puck pursuit. Keep the play to the boards, keep checking and try to cut the ice down to the opponents 3rd of the ice. It is Sutter hockey to a tee. Needed players that know how to play it. Not Ryan's. Pitlick's and Lewis'. Z gets the nod over Vali because every player needs to be physical. Every puck is a hard battle. It's hard to sustain that play until the players see the results. I think that's why Lewis and Richardson were brought in. To tell everyone, "guys, this works, and it gets easier when it works". Boring Sutter 2-1, 3-2 games is a misconception. Play hard and the right way is really all that it is. Personal stats mean zero if everyone just plays the same way. This is how you have to play to win games. The team now understands that so hockey is actually fun again, not frustrating. We have something we've sorely lacked, an identity. Teams need to bring their best now because the Flames have now set their standard bar. It's hellafun to watch. Especially seeing Johnny frustration-free for the first time ever. That 4th line is scary on the forecheck.lol I have zero probs with Pitlick on the 3rd line. Everyone's play away from the puck has been stellar most nights. Backlund in particular is doing everything I want to see. Dube needs to get comfortable at LW still, is all that I can think of to improve..

That's big for a young goalie, especially one that had to adjust to a new life overseas from his native Russia as a teenager. Sergeyev has good size at 6-foot-3 and he just never gives up on a battle when the game is on the line. Overall, a nice project guy that could become a solid backup with 1B potential if everything goes well in the NCAA".

16-21yos. So he's in the middle of the age group. USHL is the Tier 1 US comparable to Canadian Jr. NAHL is the Tier 2, that's where Sergeev played as a 16-17yo during the covid mess. That would be like Ontario Jr B hockey. So the progression's pretty decent considering Covid.

Holy crikey. What the hell happened here, exactly? Basically a jr B (AJHL) goalie in Shreveport, beautiful Louisiana. Nothing positive prior to that. Decent numbers last year, but wow. Where did it all come together like this? Not understanding. Now he's the tall version of Wolf's jr numbers in a comparable league. Regardless of where it goes from here, this was a complete wild swing imho. Who's our jr scout in Louisiana?lol Already worth the price of admission!🍿🍺
