  1. Sure. The package would be fairly low for one extra year, no? Unless it's a good faith, "thanks for JG" deal, I don't really see what the value is for Philly.
  2. That's social media and not chatting, which implies vocally. Am I over-thinking it?
  3. Well, I slept with the babysitter. I'm not a hypocrite.lol
  4. But Chicago needs cap hits, big time. Do they even have enough to ice a team now?
  5. Or get Giroux for less term and $$$.
  6. If we were to sign Kane, then I hope Stevie slid in and took JG. Don't want Kane anywhere on teams that I cheer for.
  7. Zadorov said? Yeah, he can go regardless.
  8. Philly's actually quite nic. Like a smaller NY. Newark on the other hand...
  9. Bob Stauffer was saying ANA or LA....
  10. Whatever do you mean.lol😬
  11. I could see Buffalo hopping on that. There G is yikes.
  12. Sounds like the Caps are going full in on Kuemper after not qualifying Samsonov.
  13. There are a few interesting names that could fill the bottom of a roster. Mitchell Stephens wasn't qualified by Detroit and he's a fast, hardworking C but missed a chunk of last year to injury.
  14. The problem being, there wasn't really a good time to trade him. We won the division and most talking heads had our chances on par, or even exceeding, Toronto's chances. But it ain't over until it's over(how insightful). So we can hope for the best. But I won't be happy if this hits $10.5-11. So if he goes, and that's the number, I really can't blame BT. I'd balk at it myself, soooo....I can't blame him. In that scenario, it all comes down to how BT shifts his focus. I won't understand JG's stance at all though. "Closer to home, closer to family". That's overplayed and overrated. You make $10 per and have 3 months off. I think you can probably afford to put your friends and family up, all day, every day, wherever. Then the flip side. Great, I'm home. Good luck with the weight of expectations. If it doesn't go well, does he revert back to whiny Johnny that gets distracted way too easy? Forget the romanticism, there are 2 very distinct sides to this coin. I should get an 800 number and give advice.lol
  15. Not really, just the number. Over 10 I'll be skeptical.
  16. Add in an albeit Russian goalie killing it in his draft year and Kipper going away. I "get" we drafted goalies, but damn. Nothing in Vasilevsky's draft year screamed, "this guy isn't superlative". He went from exceptional at 17 to being exceptional in the NHL. Other team's missed, I get it. Yzerman didn't, and here we are.
  17. My fear is non-existent, for what it's worth. I get that this waiting game sucks, but there's a ton of talk all over that makes little sense. As thin as it wears patience, we need to understand media needs "scoops" to keep listeners. Whereas most aren't worth listening to. If someone wants to throw everything at JG, oh well. The best place for him is with us. If it's beyond a markey value of $10per, let him go. We have to stay fiscally responsible. Barkov is $10 and deserves it. Is JG Barkov? If we lose him, oh well. Let's do the same thing with Huberdeau next year. There are a lot of avenues.
  18. I honestly don't know why scouts don't go to their schools, talk to their teachers, talk to their peers. That's where you find out about their character. Not from within the hockey circles, the player and all of the contrived answers telling you what you want to hear. If you did that with Stamkos, Chycrun and maybe to a lesser extent, Kyrou, you would find out that these are solid humans. Not a chance in hell would you find that conclusion with DeAngelo. Not just to point him out alone, because Beaulieu as well. It shouldn't really be all about having hockey skills. Source: lots of friends with kids that went to Northern High School where all of the Sting players go. My own daughter with Chychrun. My son in Atom-PeeWee. Chychrun was at practice night every Tuesday, being amazing with the whole league of kids. I swear he knew them all by name. Another buddy of mine, his kid was Stamkos' math tutor. He hates hockey players. Stamkos was the first ever. The rest were jocks that made fun of the geeks. Stammer sat with them in the cafeteria, rather than his Hash Rate jock teammates.
  19. I believe Vas was ranked 24th. I saw him in Sarnia for the Russia vs OHL Series. He was lights out. His entire draft year he was lights out. Being Russian dropped him to 24th, because there was nothing else there that dropped him so low. He was a beast. Even Kucherov's wasted Cup interview last year, "Vasi's the best goalie, I've known that since he was like, 14". Vasilevsky didn't come out of nowhere. Maatta and Ceci ARE NHLers though, unlike Jankowski and Seiloff. But yes, it was a weak class.
  20. DeAngelo? Ouch. Former Sarnia Sting Anthony DeAngelo? Are you sure about that?
  21. I disagree. Grab what you can, when you can. He fits the age range of where they're at with their core. Would your 7th be DeBrincat in 2 years? Not much point hoping it's a 30-40 goal scorer when you can secure one now. I think that's a great move by OTT and they'll be able to extend him. They've added a core young piece so it's really easy to justify.
