  1. This organization is going to get a coach that has minimal or ZERO NHL experience, and the hire will be 75% influenced by salary. I can see them going with Love but still would tread with caution. Love did a great job and won coach of the year for 2 years, so was it his coaching or the system and style of play and good goaltending that created his success? We already know the players with the Flames can not or do not want to play the same style and systems that Love won awards with, So IMHO he is already at a disadvantage. The Wranglers got timely goals and good goaltending in the games I watched. The systems were the same as we watched with the Flames. If they had a breakdown Wolf bailed them out. In the playoffs, they lost based on their best players being invisible, too small and Wolf got exposed to his weaknesses because of his size. I do not know who they will hire but do hope that it's not Muller or any of the current coaches. Go fresh and try something new. I am fine with Love getting a shot but unless he gets the same timely goals and saves and players buy in it will be a very long season.
  2. Chucky should have been given the C when Gio left extended a larger contract than he was provided and we wouldn't be having this conversation. Chucky was your our franchise guy that we lost simply by management issues. Bennett isn't the proclaimed franchise guy we drafted by is a very good role player for FLA. Lomberg is what he is a bull terrier on a bone, lol. I am hopeful they win, good for them. It goes to show you how good Chucky really is.
  3. IMHO as a GM if they will not sign now then you trade them end of the story. There are some you're going to ride the season out with possible trade deadline moves and some that are instant answers. Hanifin to me is gone, I trade him now. The most important asset we have right now is Lindy, if he is unwilling to sign an extension then he needs to be moved to the highest bidder. If Lindy fails to sign I see Backs wanting out which now puts this club into instant retooling mode. You may as well trade off all your current UFAs to hopefully get some 1st and prospects as its going to be lean for 2-3 years moving forward. This should make Kadri and Hubie happy lol
  4. Regardless of what happens someone has to be moved out to make any form a roster this year. Conroy has no option but to promote younger guys with minimal league contracts onto the roster. This isn't some master genius plan it's an absolute as this is the mess he inherited from the previous GM. For me, Hanifin is gone, should bring you something back in a first + but he is the odd man out IMHO. The next issue is Backlnd and Lindholm. Now both will want to know who is running the ship. Right now this organization is held hostage by the inmates, as they await who the new Warden is. If Backs has a goal of winning a cup, you trade him because that isn't happening here in his hockey life expectancy. You need to retain one of Lindholm or Backs to even remain somewhat competitive, This team with Kadri in a 1st line center roll is a joke. Stack on the great reminder we have ABSOLUTELY no one in the minors to fill Hanifin, Lindholm, or Backs spot if they are moved. At this time Lindholm being moved presents a huge hole for the organization for years. If and it's a big if, CLB trades their 3rd to CGY you are drafting Carleson and or Smith and you HOPE they turn out to fill the role in 2+ years.
  5. We will find out what this group is when the new guy gets here. As it been stated they got their wish and they get a new coach, the pressure is now on them to prove it was coaching and not the players. IMHO Muller, Huska, and Love are not options at all. Just remember Love won coach of the year twice using and implementing Sutter systems, our so-called core was absolutely crap with this system, so all three just based on affiliation should be out on that merit. Gallant is just a watered-down version of Sutter, so that isn't going to work, Boudreau absolutely not too soft. The front runner for me is Brunnette or Quinville. Quinville is looking to get back in the league and has the pedigree and both have success with some keys guys we signed. For me I would prefer Quinville over Brunette, just based on pedigree however can everyone get passed the past with Quinville? So the fact that Conroy wants a coach that wants to make it fun to come to work is something that Quinville may not have. Winning is fun but also extremely difficult and requires hard work dedication, discipline and sacrifice, which I have not seen in this group outside of Tanev. If you want to win bring in a coach that has that ability in Quinville with the veterans we have a newer coach is never going to get the respect.
  6. I like Craig, says the right things and provides the political advocacy that most do in these situations, great lip service. For me talk is cheap, show me what your going to do and than we can form judgement on what you said
  7. Wish him well and I will reserve judgment with him til after we see what he does. Love as the next head coach is a mistake IMHO. You pushed all your chips in one corner with Huberdeau, Weegar, and Kadri and provided every avenue of power to the inmates to run the asylum. Your only option is to put in place the only people two of them had success with is Brunnette or Quinville. Now just based on public image and less controversy Brunnette would be the safe bet and Love would be the easiest choice. Now all the BTCers and moaners that hated Sutter's systems just remember those systems were run by Love and won him coach of the year twice. Success will only bring forth repetitiveness and we know the players will just push back. If he hires Love or Muller to run this team he will already will show he has no balls to make hard decisions. Hiring Brunnette is the safest and simplest move for him that provides some form of familiarity to the players you were forced to bet the future on. The other outlier is that you now have to implement a system that 21 others don't know how to play, but everyone will be happy as the losses pile up and the prospects play and frolic in obscurity. I truly hope I am wrong but I see next season as a huge mess.
  8. I can say that I watched a lot of the Wranglers even the post-season stuff. In the playoffs, you need your best players to be your best players. One thing I can safely say is that Philips, Zary, and Pelts were invisible and ineffective 98% of most games. All three of them took a pounding, especially Phillips. When 5'7 165 meets 6'2 210 you lose every battle. It would not surprise me if we hear that all 3 were hurt. Look Phillips is a feel-good story and love the kid he is talented and can be effective in open-ice situations, but when it gets real, Zary, Pelts or Phillips are going to be game-changers. The other thing that needs to be addressed is Wolf. The kid is a gamer but has won multiple awards but trend with caution. In the last game against the Firebirds, he got beat multiple times from the dot over-the-shoulder glove side. When he goes down there is a ton of room there. The guys who scored were younger players with NHL experience. Wolf will be a very good goalie if you have a very very good structured d that blocks a lot of shots and close off lanes. If you don't play that type of system he will not be long for this league. Wranglers lost because they played slow and had a ton of turnovers and I mean a ton, similar to the Flames they don't play well against high-pressure teams. The only player that appears to have some upside was Porier, he looked fine in these games, as did Klapka and Bishop. The other note is I have no idea what the F they seen in Rooney, he is good on the PK but outside of that, he is ineffective as a player.
  9. I love Conroy but will have to humbly disagree. Do I think he could do the job sure, but IMHO this organization should be cleansed from top to bottom. Change has to begin with change not rinse and repeat. AS Conroy has been a staple he also has been part of the problem this organization has created, all you are doing is now placing the same puppet in place that left. Many here praise Tre for what he did, but for me this club is in the situation it's in because of his decision. Blame the coach all you want, but this club and culture are 100% that of what Trevling designed and left us with. You have underachieving overpaid self-indulging players that now have free reign of the organization and don't have anything or any form of accountability. If Conroy isn't hired I expect him to leave and have no issues with that. I am sorry but we need a fresh start. It hasn't worked and the new person coming in has inherited a fricking mess. For me, the best hire would be Hunter, hands down.
  10. Young, creative, and inventive for a coach isn't that what Maloney stated? That takes out Gallant and any other coach that have multiple years in the league. Plus Gallant and many others we have been linked to are too much Sutter-like for this group. As I have mentioned I would like to see Love be given a shot but think that you new fresh blood and lean towards a Brunette. My thoughts also have me casting the GM job outside the organization. Everyone BTCes and moans this organization is dysfunctional than clean house for the love of god. Why bring in the same individuals, the rot runs deep in this organization take it to the bone. This being said I like the individuals we have right now but if you're wanting to change directions then do the right thing and change the personal as well. As this club is in Cap hell from the last over lord, maybe Pridham, if you need someone for scouting or analytics Tulisky, the one that has my vote would be Hunter's an extreme long shot but again I think is to hard nose for this group as well but has great history
  11. Seeing Coilers lose out and TO was like an early Xmas gift. These two teams I just can't stand at all, it's more the announcers and bloody annoying fans that drive me nuts. Anyway, I can't lie was a glorious week seeing them fall flat.
  12. FWIW, If your UFA's for next season are not signed then you have no option but to trade them. With the mess of Sutter and Tre a new GM has inherited a complete mess. Out of all of them, Lindholm is the only one that I would be the most concerned with. If he isn't committed by June 1 he's out of here, the same goes with Backs. Fact that this team doesn't like to rebuild you may not have a Fing option. The last thing this organization needs to hear is let me think about it from a UFA. Riding next season out and just taking a chance of limping into the playoffs is utterly foolish. Drink all the Kool-aid you want this club is miles away from being a contender. The other thing that's concerning is how much stock individuals on here are putting into Kylington. The guy is not a game-changer in any sense, what was his issue last year, and has he completely recovered? The largest question is what are Lindholm, Hanifin, Toffoli, Tanev, Backs, Zadorov, Vldar, kylington, Dube, Ruzika worth. Who can they be traded to and what is the return? We have nothing in the pipeline to replace the two centers or the 3 Dman we could lose. When you look at this club in the state its in the largest mess has been created by the GM
  13. What has Dubas done in TO. They have not won Satoshi Nakamoto, it's a market that's easy to sell to players and has boatloads of cash. Other than being in the spotlight 24/7 he has been no more effective than the last guy we had. I think it was Warrner who mentioned all the GMs like Bowman that had good teams, picking the draft selections where they were at in draft position, really did they do anything great? When you're picking 1-3 in multiple drafts it's hard to F that up. Show me a GM/AGM that took a team that had no top draft choices and turned them into a contender, someone different that who I want. Christ look at the Coliers 5 first-rounders and multiple top 5 picks and it's still a mess.
  14. The more I ponder on the new GM the more I lean for an outside guy. This has nothing to do with Conroy or what he is or can do. What I don't like in these conversations is "Well he knows the organization and how things work" IMHO your just recycling the same problem. The same goes for the coaches, I think Love is a good candidate but I still lean towards an outside-of-the-organization person. You now have a great opportunity to clean house, for me its to get rid of everyone that had any dealings or connections with Tre and Sutter, remove them all, and start fresh.
  15. Yeah, I don't get it either have not looked into it, it's weird.
  16. Well, the Wranglers have advanced with a 3-2 win in regulation. KlapCoachella ka with the game-winner to advance them. Was a close game there was typical playoff hockey. They now take on Coachella in the next round.

    Goaltending

I am with u man. I watch the Wranglers Wolf has a ton of positives but I would just like to see expectations tempered a bit with him. This organization has a great record for ruining prospects he could be a great goaltender for us.

    Goaltending

Wanted to comment on this a while back. With Wolfe, he has been great at every level, and he is one of the better prospects we have. However, we should proceed with caution here. The kid is good been lighting the AHL up but he may struggle at the NHL level. He has holes and that will get exposed very quickly with NHL players. Let him slowly adapt and adjust before tossing him 3 miles out in the ocean hoping he can swim to shore.
  19. Maybe we're in the same province as that is the common theme here, lol. Fix or repaired it 5 times because you didn't want to do spend the money the first time to do it right. The number of items in the city where I reside that were done, designed, and repaired incorrectly based on trying to save a dollar is mind-blowing.
  20. Really how can one not look at the players as well? The word is some but not all had issues, Toffoli was one for sure. So is he traded now because he was a supporter? There will be a disconnect in the room, shots have been fired already with the hope they can handle the next coach's comments, The ones who played till the end will most likely be voted off the island IMHO, now you are stuck with the same whiny culture as before. Hash this crap out behind closed doors like men, not like a child, and run to your agent or the media. Sutter got himself fired, however, where my issue is you can't fire the players for their poor performances and lack of effort. This process now provides you with cultural and organizational issues as not everyone is held to the same standards. Allowing someone a voice is great but with that, there needs to be standards and accountability, there is none. Look in the mirror and point because 99% of the issues stem from the individual your looking at.
  21. Wranglers lost tonight in regulation. Wolf didn't play well, actually, the whole team was slow and disengaged. Man, those who wish Phillips should be a full-time NHLer need to watch this game. The kid took a pounding, he gets back into the play I give him credit, but Phillips had ZERO effect in this game, he got crushed more than once. The wranglers just looked slow tonight disinterested and with no passion. Has to be Sutter's fault.
  22. Lol I may sound worked up but could actually be careless. It is just an opinion, that is all. I just don't like this snowflake mentality now. If you play like Satoshi Nakamoto and the coach states the same don't run to the media and your agent oh he hurt my feelings. You get paid very well to do a job that many would kill to have and all you can give is a 50% effort, get bent.
  23. What gets me agitated is its the same crap over and over, hire fire, not right for the team not the team for the coach. Trade this away cause its the player we need, oh said player doesn't fit the room, toss more draft picks and prospects willy-nilly into the wind and hope the Satoshi Nakamoto we get back sticks and doesn't leave a skid mark. The best part of this is some mentioned they should reinvestigate bringing Trevling back, FFS. This club is a mess and you even think it is ok to say hey we got rid of the big bad coach it's okay now, he's gone. The man left a worse negative impact on the club if not more the Sutter.
  24. Actually, could careless everyone seems to miss the point. This was not a one-sided issue, but one person took the whole blame. So you changed the sheet smells clean and feels great but it's still the same Satoshi Nakamototy bed. You have changed nothing right now just created more issues. The sad part is there is no accountability for the Satoshi Nakamototy efforts on the ice. I hold minimal optimism you see a Boston type turn around with this club
  25. So the players wanted the coach because he's an A-hole. I have and will state that some of the roster moves however DS has the ability to read a room as a coach and if you are not willing to play then he will roster who he thinks he can get the most out of the roster. So now the players are barking in the media well I didn't like the systems and it didn't benefit my skill sets. Guess what MF'ers you better step up and make a difference next year. Here is my issue right now because you have the inmates running the Asylum: 1) You have no plan with the players, systems, training, goals, or expectations for next season. 2) What is their role next season that still has yet to be decided, you have no one steering the ship. Hey, at least the players will be better for next year's golf season. 3) It will be a season of passes, well they needed to learn the system, the new coach, and the youth are just learning. Mistakes flaws and everything everyone complained and BTCed about all this season will be "Well it's all-new give it time, at least the people are getting a chance, IMHO losing or average will become acceptable. 4) Everyone seems to believe you just got better, I don't see it with this roster. Trevling left this club in a mess. 5) Does this mean the UFA's sign now, everyone is happy the witch is dead but seems to forget what he was brought in for. A hard demanding coach expects a lot. We need a more modern, younger progressive coach. We are a revolving door for coaches that NO ONE ever seems to get right and the players never seem to match. 6) The pressure for those who wanted the change the pressure just got worse. You better step up and prove you were right. 7) The fact that players, and agents, now use the leverage of power and can manipulate players, and organizations on players to clubs is the same abuse of authority if not more than what we just witnessed. 8 this just solidified there is a culture problem and its in that room. IMHO what needs to happen next is a cleansing as you need to get rid of the cancer inside that locker room. This isn't solely on the coach, there are some major problems in that room as well, Hey, I am fine with everyone's stance and opinion and appreciate the respect that respond. From what I got out of this Sutter got fired because he was an A-hole and the players felt they know more than their coach. Frankly, it never works, but as a fan, I will stay moderately optimistic. Lastly, the sad part of this is the players have power but no accountability, that is the issue.
