  1. That is a pretty hilarious response. He continues to dig himself into quite a hole
  2. That's a total cost of almost 5 million. That's poor value for a 3rd rounder IMO. Also think the GM might have been a bit busy to try and pull that off....
  3. I agree. I don't think a 3rd is good value for a 4 mill cap hit next year and a really problematic player.
  4. Cheap add. Probably a player they like. Book on him is physicality which I know is a skillset Conroy values. I thikn this is more about that than an upside play .
  5. Depth dman. Big, physical. Build out some depth for sure and gives them some more toughness.
  6. If that is what you are looking for.. oh boy. Sign up for ALOT of pain then.
  7. Their D already isn't that mobile. 1 -2 years from now? I'm not sure the bottom will drop out, but I woudln't write down a 20s pick in pen.
  8. I have no idea what the Sharks are doing. This is a steal IMO for Vegas. Long term cap pain mind you as I think Hertl has a bad contract but that isn' tmuch to give up for a really good player for the next few years.
  9. Vegas cap next year really isn't a problem. Around 16 mill in space (assuming about an 88 mill cap) and that includes Lehner whose career is done so it's actually more like 20 mill in space. They had the room. Be curious to see what this means for Hanifin though. Maybe he is a rental.
  10. This could be by LA never seemed to be linked to Markstrom.
  11. So there it is. Flames will get an unprotected pick in 2026 now
  12. Best news of the day for Flames fan might not come via their own trade haha
  13. MAF himself thought he might be gone https://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/marc-andre-fleury-waived-no-trade-go-calgary/
  14. Could be fun to track this. This could be Buchnevich. Is he worth the 2025 first? As a reminder if Vegas trades that pick, Flames will get an unprotected 2026
  15. Yes he did. on 2 different occasions actually. he tried to get him at the 2016 draft but as I heard, Pittsburgh wasn't doing it for less than a first round pick. Flames took Tkachukk that year. He tried again the deadline but Pittsbrugh worked out a deal with Vegas to ensure that MAF was going to be their selection in the expansion draft. They didn't want to lose their young dman at the time, Doumalin in particular.
  16. I do wonder if the Flames had too high of a price here. I don't think they were dealing markstrom to the Devils without Mercer plus being the deal. Fair to question if that's too high of a price and they cost themselves a decent deal/player (Holtz for example). But in all the reading i've done, and including my own spin, I really don't think Conroy/Flames are the reason this fell apart. End of the day I just don't think the valuations were there.
  17. Man i'm not sure there is a GM out there that looks as silly as Tom Fitzgerald right now. What a mess of a season. if you wanted to shelter your young guys, why not get Ranntta off waivers and hold onto the pick? Just so curious all around
  18. 50% of Allen's contract retained doesn't mean the Devils would still be in a position to acquire Markstrom in the summer if they want to. would need to do something with either him or Vanecek but this goesn't mean they can't do it. Does it change their desire? time will tell.
  19. Probably not but I really don't think it was ownership driven.
  20. I really hope the Flames didn't overplay their hand here... That's a really curious move for the Devils though. Allen isn't great and is signed for next year too. Really odd what the Devils have done here
  21. I actually think Mercer is more of a winger personally. And NMC is a pretty big factor for many of those team. I have no problem moving off of NJ and Mercer if you are going to get more but IMO you won't. I don't even think your going to get Mercer for him because if you could, Markstrom would likely be a Devil by now
