I have no doubt that is exactly the case...

They also wanted Brossoit... They are already promoting that part of the trade on their main page... http://oilers.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=691220&navid=DL|EDM|home

Same here... If it had been up to me, I would have let Ramo have the start tonight...

Then there was that clause that was reported to be in Ramo's contract where he could return to the KHL if he did not remain with the Flames and was going to be sent down to Abby...

JMac also has some really bad habits when it comes to positioning and awareness... Here are two examples that resulted in goals from the recent game against the Yotes... This is not the same play if you look at the numbers of the Yote with the puck, just the same mistake by JMac on two different plays... Sure he has made some good saves, but he also gives up far too many rebounds and it is just not that hard to find examples of poor positioning like this... That said, I also appreciate his positive contributions, and like having him as a backup right now... But at 33 years old, the bad habits can be hard to break, and either way I just don't see that he has all that much time left on the clock...

It is not possible to judge a goaltender after only 3 games... It's that simple... The Flames have to, and will, give Ramo more games to see how he does... Starting with Ramo, and then over time the Flames will also need to give different goalies enough games to see what they have and if any of them are going to pan out... If only one does or perhaps even if none do, then they need to make changes... At 33 years old J Mac is not going to be the starter of the future... So they need to find one... Win or lose, the Flames would be setting themselves up for future disaster by playing J Mac too much instead of seeing what else they have for options in order to secure the goaltender position for when the younger players are more developed and the rest of the team becomes more balanced, including the D...

That, and the fact that until play in the D zone improves drastically, no goalie is going to be good enough...

For those that may have missed this... I am glad to hear this... Ramo needs a few games to try and find his groove, and the Flames need to see what he is capable of... I just wish this would have happened before the road trip against some of the better teams in the league...

Good to hear that Ramo will get the start... He needs to play more often to be able to show what he can bring... Jackman will add more size on the line and that should be beneficial for playing the Sharks... and I doubt that he will take a brain fart penalty again for a while now... Have to wonder just how badly and how often Butler needs to screw up before he rides the pine though...

I thought so too... It was already past time to give Ramo a shot... Definition of shenanigans: Playing a goaltender that you acquired on waivers that has a one year contract with a cap hit of $925 K while the goalie whose virtues were often touted by Feaster that has a two year contract with a cap hit of $2.75 mil sits for seemingly no good reason... I second your call of shenanigans...

Big Mac hasn't shown that he is better than Ramo up to this point either... Ramo would have been my choice as the starter tonight... If anything, he had motivation to play well against the Habs for letting him go when they had his NHL rights...

In an ideal world If it were possible to mesh some of both Ramo's and Berra's skill sets, we could have one heck of a #1 goalie... At this point in time I would still give Ramo the edge for becoming the starter though...

I agree... At this point I see it as more of an opportunity for fans that have been patiently waiting to finally get seasons tickets... Maybe the Dome will lose some of the so called fans that spend half the game either yapping on their cellphones or texting, and instead replace them with hockey fans that care more about what is happening on the ice and make a little more noise to breathe some life back into the building...

Looks like Ramo will get the start for the game against the Rangers and MacDonald will be the backup... Also sounds like Berra will start against the Coyotes...

It looks like Irving is off to Finland... I wish him well and hope he finds a place to play there... Only time will tell if he makes it back to the NHL...

Don't get me wrong... I did not mean that it changed the picture in a bad way... I would have to guess that even for the Flames organization it is unknown if Kipper will return at this time... I don't see him leaving it much past mid June hopefully at the latest until he makes his decision known... I just can't see him hanging the team out to dry by announcing his retirement in late summer if he does decide too retire... I am also hoping that they sign Kipper to a one year extension for a decent enough dollar so it makes it more enticing for him to continue... I do not think Joey Mac would be a good choice for a number one, but is the best option for a backup that we have at the moment and I am glad that he is signed on a contract that makes sense... Mac can make some great saves, but it seems to me that sometimes he also gets over confident and does things like unnecessarily coming out too far to challenge a shooter, and he got burned for a couple of goals doing just that recently... By changing the picture I meant more that it's good to see that they are not going to rely on one or more of our "unknown factors" for the role that have already been signed at this point... If Kipper retires, unless one of our "unknown factor" goaltenders can really step up and steal the show (and I wouldn't bet the farm on it at this point), the Flames could really be in trouble unless they can pull of a trade for a proven tender somehow without sacrificing too much, and I don't see that as being likely either...

This changes the picture for next season... Joey MacDonald has been signed to a one-year one-way contract for $925,000... http://flames.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=666778&navid=DL|CGY|home
