travel_dude
Realities are Gio has a NMC and a NTC until 2015 so sorry. However we do have one D that a lot of people around here seem to want to get rid of who is playing a lot better lately. Butler for any of your skilled #1 picks.. Your choice. Butler has played a lot of top 2 D minutes around here the past couple years........ Butler is like a poor-man's Smid. Blocks a ton of shots. Participates in line dancing brawls. Scores the occasional GWG. Still has potential yet to be "tapped". He has the type of skills that get you out of your seat. You will scream at the TV, he is so good. Value contract. stubblejumper1
Tim Ramholdt is a poor man's Smid. Smid is a poor man's Butler, only at a premium price.
Kulstad
Smid is a poor man's Butler, only at a premium price. Ok, I'll feed the troll here... How, and in what universe, is this even remotely true?
SheriforPM
I think changes are on the way. Burke likes to do things last minute and it makes sense. That is when teams are usually most desperate. As far as goals for, don't worry so much. I knew at the beginning of this season it was a wash. I love how the guys play, and watching games became fun again. Sure we lose, but we lose with heart! Heh heh
stubblejumper1
Ok, I'll feed the troll here... How, and in what universe, is this even remotely true? After your challenge I took a look at some stats, and even I was surprised (see below.) Butler has more goals, assists, twice as many points, same +/-, way less PIMS (with the same amount of fights, so he's not putting the team on the PK as often,) twice as many shots, and more blocked shots than Smid. The only stats Smid has Butler beat in are hits and salary. The teams record is identical with or without Smid in the lineup. Next, I had a look at where Smid fits in with the leagues other top hitters. He has played more games (he is durable,) has only 1/4 as many points, a worse +/-, more PIMS, less fights, and more salary than average. Finally I had a look at defensemen who have played at least 40 games and have < 4 points this year. Smid has more goals, less points, a worse +/-, twice as many PIMs, and a higher salary than average. So...in the statistical universe, Butler >> Smid. I will leave it up to you to determine in which universe Smid is even comparable to Butler.
