  1. From the replays I thought for sure it was his left leg. Man I hope he gets better quick. Just going to miss seeing him every game. Edit: Could it be BT playing possum before the trade deadline? We don't play again until Tuesday. Or.. am I reading way too much into an injury? Oh and thanks Kehatch!
  2. Looking for a thread on Gio and his injury. Anyone have any information? At this point, the playoffs are secondary to getting him back healthy for me.
  3. Barring injuries on the back end, I can't see anyone passing us in the best tandem category. Brodano are on fire and no signs of slowing down. As far as the powerhouses passing us? Anything is possible but at this stage, I'm starting to doubt that we are an aberration on the season. We played over .500 hockey the last few months of last year and this year seems just like a continuation of the latter part of last season.
  4. When we picked up Hiller, no one expected this to happen, for our tenders to push each other like this. I didn't either, I like Ramo but thought he would be in the backup role. Having a 1A 1B tandem is awesome! Keep it up guys!
  5. A little off topic but Calgary making the playoffs should be a shoe in for Hartley and the Jack Adams. Gio should easily get the Norris. I won't hold my breath for the Hart, too sexy for Calgary as far as the Eastern pundits are concerned. Would love to see Johnny get the Calder. IMO getting the Byng is like getting the Miss Congeniality award. Meh Brodano... Love that S4xon! Is that your's? Can I use it?
  6. Loving our D this year! Every time Gio and TJ are on the ice it looks to me like they have been playing as a pair since they were timbits! Man that chemistry!
  7. Ramo with the shutout last night! Love the way this guy plays!
  8. Ramo with his first shutout and played brilliantly! Man he reminds me of Kipper in his interviews lol
  9. Who is starting tonight? Are they going with Ortio again? I hope so!
  10. And I was just thinking "Hey! We are only 13 points out of a wildcard spot!" Stranger things have happened you know.
  11. I agree with Kehatch. He looked solid with good positioning in his first 2 games. Actually I think he deserved a shut out last night. If he falters, give him a game to make it up, if not then send him down again. I'm actually pretty stoked about our future between the pipes.
  12. I'm excited to watch Ortio again. The first game he didn't look out of place. With that under his belt, tonight will be a better showcase of what he might be capable of. Should be a great game!
  13. You guys hammering on the goalies are forgetting we had a completely crap defence in front of them for most of the beginning of the season. Gio was hurt, we didn't have Laddy and Butler was playing like.. well Butler. Since December, our defence have picked it up and so have our tenders. As far as our position in 26th in the league, was there ever any doubt? Calgary has played in 35 one goal games this year. That is one goal difference between winning and losing. We weren't that good with Kipper, Iggy and Jbow. Still missed the playoffs remember? Any team that gives up 3 of it's core including it's franchise tender, franchise forward and arguably it's best dman are going to suck. However, we are playing better than anyone has the right to expect, including our 2 tenders who by all accounts at the beginning of the season were going to be pylons incapable of stopping a beach ball. Give them some credit. They earned it.
  14. Congrats Yogi on your first regulation win with the Flames! Looking for many more!
  15. I thought Berra played pretty good but that third goal, that was brutal. In years past, that would have sunk our chances for a W. I'm wondering which Sharks team will show up tonight. I hope Ramo is on top of his game.
  16. Come on Saxon! They won a game! Scrivens is the next Fuhr! Haven't you heard?
  17. After watching that game last night.. I wonder. Not putting the loss on Berra by any means but after Gio scored in the third you could feel the whole game change, the building was kind of electrified, then Berra lets in, IMHO, a softy and the let down was obvious to even those like me, watching the game on TV. It just took the wind right out of their sails. Kind of liking Byron though, he looks so little but plays so much bigger than he is!
  18. Imagine! I have reached my quota of positive votes for the day! How rude! Sorry Phoenix, but I give you 2 thumbs up for that post!
  19. Okay, I will admit that my post was more in response to a certain members seemingly intolerance of Berra and Ramo's abilities than Gillies at the WJC. He was IMHO average. Understandable given the scope of this tourney and his relative inexperience. I am one of those who will not get excited about someone until I see them play at this stage. As in NHL. I have put my hopes on too many draft picks thinking they were the second coming of this or that star, only to see them slowly slide into obscurity. If Ortio and Gillies end up being the next Kipper, I will be their biggest fans, but I will wait to see that for myself. In the meantime I am happy with what we have. After a rocky start, they have proven to me that they belong here.
  20. He could have been Red Light Gillies and you would defend him lol I think it had less to do with European ice and more to do with the calibre of opponent he was facing. Oops
  21. Now you're just being goofy. Quick and Lundqvist? Senior citizens? Really? Sorry JJ but you are reaching so far to slam Berra and Ramo that you are digging a deep hole. You are hoping and praying that Ortio or Gillies will be the next saviors and for the teams sake I hope you are right but you can't fault what Berra and Ramo are doing. They finally have some sort of defence in front of them, no offense now though. Personally I think they are doing a terrific job and if they were on the Kings or Sharks, they would be lights out. On this team they are the stars. Period.
  22. Thanks Deeds. I see the same thing. Pheonix said it too that our defence is too thin to play the minutes required of them. I understand the excitement of Ortio or Gillies, both are lights out in their league but I'm thinking you really have to give props to Ramo and Berra, they have really stepped it up lately. IMO we have our tenders for the rebuild, now we need to work on defence. Gio is outstanding this year and Russell has shown that he can do the job. TJ is over his head but that's not his fault. Too many minutes. He has shown flashes of brilliance on the back end. We just need to add a stay at home kind of guy to eat some more minutes. Trading Jaybo left a bigger hole than I realized. Not sure if I'm alone on that one though.
  23. Getting tired of the tender bashing here in Calgary. Ramo sits with a .907 GAA. According to most of you he isn't an NHL starter. Some even want Joey Mac back with his .885 GAA facing less than half the shots as Ramo. There are so many big names below Ramo's on the NHL GAA list who are bonafide starters it's not even funny. We have a weak assed defence in front of these guys and you are all wanting a Kipper from his 05-06 Vezina year! I think Feaster nailed it on these two. I give him 2 thumbs up for signing them. If we had a couple of stud defencemen besides Gio in front of these guys this thread would have one page, not 42.
  24. Considering that Butler was the only reason Ramo didn't record a shutout last night... I think you are all kind of barking up the wrong tree. Give them a chance, see what they have. Ortio is playing lights out in junior.. yes junior hockey. A little early to anoint him the starters job in the big club isn't it?
  25. 2 of those 3 goals were either deflections of lucky bounces. I don't think Berra was the sole cause of last nights meltdown. If we are blaming anyone, Cammi had a brutal giveaway so should we sit him too?
