There is a reason nobody offered Potter a 1 way contract and multiple teams offered Engellend a raise from last years salary. Potter is not an NHL defensemen at this point.

Last night is a perfect example of why the Ducks let Hiller go and why I think the Flames should go with Ramo. But Hiller for whatever reason is Harleys favorite. With Ortio injured its highly unlikely Ramo is traded without another goalie coming back. Seems to just be too many moving parts then to happen at the deadline.

I personally still think Ramo would be the better and safer goalie to keep between him and Hiller. However unless a team offers something ridiculous for Hiller I dont see Ramo here next season.

And why would Thornton and Marleau waive to go to the Leafs when they are on a playoff team now? Two aging vets are not going to help the Leafs. They need to completely blow up their team and start over.
-
Not thrilled with the Hiller signing. They better give Ramo a fair shot, which he didnt get last year until after the Olympics.

Flames will be a bubble lottery team, not a bubble playoff team. And I mean that in a way that the Flames will be one of the favorites to draft 1st overall. A lot of players had career years last year, Gio being one of the big ones. I dont see that happening again for the Flames to advance. Players like Monahan will most likely take a step back next year instead of taking a step forward as well.

Makes sense. And if that happens I have they sign someone like Mac for 1 more year to backup Ramo and let Ortio play the majority of the starts for the Heat. Ortio needs to play and not ride the bench.

Yes and the numbers game is that the Flames only have 2 call ups left for this year and cannot afford to spend one on a goalie that will likely only see 2 or 3 starts at best. If there was not a call up limit the Flames would have reassigned him to the Heat per his emergency call up and then immediately waived Mac and recalled Ortio.

Ramo has been great since he settled back into the NHL. Sucks that Ortio got caught up in a numbers game now with callups but its probably better for him to get lots of starts with the Heat for the rest of the season then split time up here with Ramo.

Hartley said Ramo's condition would be updated on Monday last night. He also said he thinks its minor.

Sven was left off the team because he hasnt shown much this season, that is almost all on coaching. If Hartley wasnt going to play him he should have been sent down months ago. Not surprised Berra made the Swiss team, congrats to him.

The Flames will not be close to competing for at least 3 or 4 years. Ramo has shown so far that hes capable of holding down the fort. Hes not going to steal many games for the Flames and the Flames dont need that.

Ramo has been excellent this month. Have no problems going with him for the next few years. He still has some parts to his game that need work but hes been getting better and giving the team very stable goaltending. Gillies is another 3 years away, hes not going to be in the NHL anytime soon if hes developed properly. Ortio needs this year and maybe next year in the AHL before I think he will be ready for the NHL. He needs to play, no point in having him on the bench.

Ramo better start next game or I will be mad. There is no reason to go back to Berra right now.

Berra was bad last night. He seemed to be flopping around a lot because he was out of position, especially in the 3rd. Dont see how you can go with him next game especially after last nights meltdown.

Maybe on waivers, but he still has zero trade value. Ramo, Mac and Berra all have zero trade value at this point. There is simply too many options available via trade that are better.

Its fact. Sorry but deal with it. Agreed. The knock I have against Hartley is his favoritism, and its pretty huge.

Berra had zero trade value and still has zero trade value, most people didnt even know he was still a Blues prospect before the trade. The only reason Berra is getting a shot in the NHL is because Hartley was a coach in the Swiss league and told Feaster to give him a chance.

Ortio will not be battling for the Flames starting position next year and frankly him being the backup would be bad for this development. I hope barring series injuries to Ramo and Berra hes kept on the Heat all year to play as much as possible.

Ramo hasnt been given a fair shot to run with anything. Its a forgone conclusion to what will happen. Sometime in the near future he will be given a game against a top team, the Flames will play bad and Hartley will go back to Berra.

Not surprised by this. I was sure we were going to see a Ramo/Berra tandem by Christmas, just happened a little sooner.
