  1. And Hawaii loves their Spam. Shipping costs and availability of fresh meat I guess. Regarding his value, I think there are teams that could use him, but the market is drying up. If retaining 50% gets us a better return, then so be it. $2.75M is just that. But I also think we have to be a bit more brutal and sell Hanifin for futures or a cheaper forward. Tanev should be a TDL decision. There are arguments either way about re-signing him short term vs trading him. If you are not going to trade him, then re-sign him before the TDL. Zaddy checks some boxes for me, so not ready to get rid of him. Kylington depends on his return to NHL.
  2. Yeah, it's always an issue with translation. Valimaki's was in Finnish, Backlund's in Swedish. Unfortunate that they talk to the media in their home country. It gets spun any number of ways. But, the bottom line is we probably are looking at a trade regardless.
  3. Backlund said some odd things, some are more telling than others. Won't sign an extention. May decide to come next season to sign as a UFA with CGY. Depending on how they did this season. Anyway, trade him for the first part. It doesn't matter if the 2nd part is true. The 2nd part is pure risk. With Lindholm, I think it's more like he requests a trade if we trade Markstrom than Backlund. So, trade Backlund. Still some teams out there looking for a 2C or at worst a 3C. Many 3C's don't come close to his level.
  4. Spam Spam Spam Spam Spam Spam Spam Spam Spam Spam Spam Spam Spam Spam Spam Spam Spam Spam Eggs and Spam Spam Spam Spam Bacon and Spam Do you have anything without spam? Well, the Spam and Eggs has just a little Spam .
  5. Duehr got married this weekend. Thing is, that some players that had less than great seasons had things going on. Lindholm and Markstrom were both becoming new dads. It's tough to separate home from work during that time and the months leading up and after can be nervewracking. Something tells me that this year will see both players at the top of their games.
  6. The bots seem to be cycling in every couple of hours. I must call one of those support or booking number with a credit card. They seem very well designed to help people. Duh
  7. Bump bump baby. China Syndrome averted.
  8. Bunch of bots or hackers. Got out the ban hammer as best I could.
  9. Well, I had no idea of his leanings and the type of person he was. The only thing I ever heard about was his berating the NY goalie, so obviously that's not the only issue with him. One team buys him out. 2nd team gives him a contract. 3rd team signs him then buys him out. Costly dirbag signings, though Philly is not surprising.
  10. I thought he has an issue with the goalie in NY? If his problem is race, then he's gonna have issues.
  11. You mean like the Taylor Hall and Riley Smith trades? Vegas can't afford RS. Hall was a cap dump. Toffoli was a trade because we can't afford him next season, not for what he would ask for.
  12. Not definitive, but in CAR he was +30 with 10g and 41A. In Philly he was -27 with 11g and 31a. Neither of those were complete seasons.
  13. DeAngelo bought out by Philly. RHS with comp numbers to Ras Andersson. I think he must make most of his money from buyouts. Could be a cheap add for some team.
  14. That sounds really bad. We get 2 pending UFA's. And a RFA goalie same size as Wolf that is not exactly lighting it up. For that we give up a top C, a top D and a 3rd. I would do Backlund for Debrusk and promptly trade him at TDL.
  15. I think he just left it out by accident, since I think he has a high opinion of Weegs.
  16. This year is turning into the year of little returns. You could say you got a haul for Debrincat. If you are trying to sell that to the fans. It seems very par for the course. Nylander won't get what the TO fans think he is worth. Hanifin is not worth what others have got for similar players. This year. Really, the only way we are getting par value for Hanifin is to trade for a similar status player. One with little term or one that is a high cost. If we are offering Hanifin + Backlund (at 50%) for Willie Nee, Toronto should start the car. If we offered Philly Hanifin for Konecny, they should start the car. Nothing is worth anything this year.
  17. Well, if we aren't playing Ruzie, he's gone on waivers.
  18. Who did you get back in trading Tanev? Why is Zary in over Ruzicka? Hasn't pla6yed a NHL game yet.
  19. It would be interesting to see if he is used in a consistent role. He deserved some criticism for tailing off after his great start, mind you he was dropped from top line to 4th line.
  20. Rules these days...udder nonsense. I remember my first Rogers cellphone. Wasn't the Gordon Gecko brick phone, but it would have been useful if I wanted to take a subway in TO. That sucker would leave a mark.
  21. Look at all those old camera phones. These days you get basically a TV studio on your camera, er, I mean phone.
  22. TDL is an extreme worst case scenario. I think it's a given that both Hanifin and Backlund are getting dealt. Holding off trading them just puts the team in limbo. Can't get reads on some players due to depth chart, can't improve, can't make changes due to cap, can't get anything for them if injured. We started by trading Toffoli, a top scoring F, for a lesser scoring player and a draft pick we originally gave away. If we managed to trade Hanifin for a top 6 F and Backlund for a depth D + pick, then that shows we are committed to the top end. When we had Chucky and Johnny, we never did anything to improve the top end, other than a last ditch effort to bring in Toffoli. Only after we were losing JH and Chucky did we attempt to bring in a top 6 C and a top 6 winger. If the rumors are true that it's Hanifin for Nylander (or some other top 6'er) make it happen and finish the roster. Sign or deal Lindholm but pick a direction. There's useful players available as UFA's, but only if you know what you need and the players know what the direction is.
  23. I think it's safe to say that the older players on the team are wondering what we are doing. Signing long term has a cost to it. You may still be able to get traded down the road, but maybe not where you want to go. You also want to know that you are part of an organization that wants to win the cup, not just re-tool every year. BT's leaving sent a message to the players that the team was going in a slightly different direction, and nobody is sure what that is. Hiring the A/coach to replace Sutter also sends a message; some thing will not change. Lindholm is looking at dominos. If Hanifin and Backlund are traded for picks, then it's known that we are re-tooling to some end. If they are traded for young-ish players on the rise or already there, then we know the direction a bit better. I believe that Hanifin and Backlund are the lynchpin to moving forward with Lindholm.
