I tend to agree. His actual paid salary after the signing bonus is $1m. Pay the SB and ask him to waive to go to Seattle for one year. Or see if he wants to retire. There isn't any justification for him to be used here in a 3rd/4th line role and I think we gave him everything he asked for from a team. Put him in the best possible position. He's being used more and more as a fighter for Cage Matches. I think he would like to gracefully sunset and go raise his young family. A long playoff run will be his swan song. Lucic alone would solve 90% of our cap issues. Can't have everyone from this year perhaps, but we would be close.

There was a couple of WTF moments by the D. A couple of passes directly to the other team (Zaddy had one or two). The problem with the 4th line was they had real trouble in our zone. Extended time trying to get out. Not really expecting much from them in the other zone other than a hard forecheck. First game, 4th line was visible for a good reason; made the most of O-zone time. Second game, 4th line visible for the wrong reasons. Lewis is a gamer and can play with anyone. If your choice is Richardson or Ritchie, use Richardson. Against MTL, I think you need Dube's speed and Ruzie's effectiveness. Rewarding guys is one thing. By that standard, Stone should play. Icing the best lineup is tough on depth players like Stone, Ritchie and Richardson. But be honest about which players are needed to win games. Give them a tune up game now and then.

Cheers, did you see anything in his play that would suggest that he had anything at all lingering from the hit? If anything, I saw a player even nastier than previous games. He was in the middle of scrums, stripped players of the puck when defending a rush, knocked a player or two over near the crease. I was worried about the player after the hit, but he left the decision to play with the doctors. Wasn't sure he was playing until they cleared him.

March 1st is the start of being able to ink undrafted players to NHL contracts. I see a few teams that did that. Ol' JJ will be pushing for some obscure goalie or C soon, once the Flames start losing game. LOL. Not sure if March 1st is really a deadline. We inked Zary on December 31st or something like that.
