You are saying the way to grow the game is to call all penalties, right? I'm suggesting that injury fear is not keeping the game from growing. The cost makes it harder for some skilled kids to ever get a chance. Not just true here, but other factors in the USA play a part. I would suggest that injury concern by parents is low on that list.

The only thing stopping more parents from putting their kids in hockey (up to age of majority) is the high cost of fees and equipment. What does it take to play soccer? Pair of shorts, some shin pads and a cup. Maybe cleats. Less than $100. Call the penalties, but unless you make the rules like IIHF ones, boy will hit. They are there to win and will do everything it takes.

At times he has looked good, but then again so has our 2 and 3 goalies. We are going to pay long term $4 for that? Saving a bit less than $3M is not really a saving grace. Ask EDM. I will say this. If they have scouted Korpi and feel that he has the tools to be a top goalie for the next 5 years, then okay. Live with it, if it turns out to be a big mistake. I doubt we have scouted him that hard.

I think the idea is you try out the new tandem of goalie and see where you are. The current situation will not allow that to happen. Seeing as the current version of the Flames was not really any better with or without Markstrom in nets, I don't think trading him would be a rebuild. He is not a long term answer so if you get only a year out of Wold/Vladar before you need to upgrade, it's really not that much different.

It's great pick as part of the overall return no doubt. And in goalie trade terms it's probably fair to really good. What lets this down is getting stuck with a goalie that has not been very good. If Vladar is crap, what is Korpi?

You mean the 11 games he played with the Kings or the seasons he was a backup and played 30+ games only? His best year was behind Seth Jones. Also this was the last time he won more than he lost.

They don't really have any goalie to include. They have a pending UFA and one year of Allen. Taking Allen (why would they even do that) just means we have to trade him this year.

We have 3 goalies that can play this season and we are taking back one as part of the trade? He is nowhere what we need in a goalie coming with a $4M price tag. Only if we turn around and deal Korpisalo to NJ (or similar team). And even that doesn't excite me because it would be a crap trade for us.

Some speculation that Mercer was the ask, while others suggested that 1st + Holtz was not enough if salary retained. I think an unhappy goalie is a lot different than an unhappy Bennett. Top position on the team and if he has soured, then you have to act. Whatever the situation was at TDL, they boobed up by not closing the deal. We are moving you and want to move you, but we didn't quite get there. Maybe later. We said we would only ask you if we were close, and we got close to being close.

We had 3 at bats in 2013, two strikeouts and one hit. The 2nd in 1st round is a nice to have, but paying a ton of assets for a 2nd top 10 seems like a surefire way of being ripped off and not getting better. Perhaps the best we should do is try to upgrade the 1st by a few spots, if we see a player we really crave. 28 to 18, or somethinglike that.

It's EDM, so it's what it is. The worst part for me is the gross colors. I hated when the Ducks used Orange. Hunter is for those that have animal fetishes. Remember the Orange Crush? They wanted to be tough.

I haven't paid as much attention to him recently, so he may have gotten better. I can do without him, but the choices are small. Ball was good and called it pretty even. I can cheer for Bennett and Ekblad and Sasha. Hold my nose while egging on Tkachuk (douche when he's not on your team). I can't cheer for McD or Draibaby. Or DoucheBomb. Or Nurse. Or (especially) Kane. In general, the runner up from last year's SCF wins the following year. Sometimes it's a Cinder-freakin-rella story, but usually just teams that should have won by now. The Oilers are neither. When you have an easy path to the finals, you get creamed. I don't believe that the Oilers are Canada's team. One player belongs on Team Canada, but the rest are not considered or belong to another country.

But you are wasting 3 assets on one pick; that's crazy. I could see #28 + Markstrom for 10 OA and Holtz, but that's a bit much. Probably draft floor value, but I don't like it. Maybe more reasonable is Marky + #28 for #10, Bahl and Holtz. It's all relative, because if you don't have any fallers that you really really want, why bother. It's likely that the Flames have two or three guys in mind. If any of those are available, they will run up. They won't say I want them all. Too much risk.
