Tkachuk and Mange say hello. Mange got shated 1st RFA year. Next one got a bump and short term to take him to FA.

Burakovsky would be interesting, but do we need him to replace Gaudreau or Mangiapane's game. Is he able to pass? Mange is a shooter and doesn't help Lindy or Matty score.

His parents loved him being a Flame. Guy was a big fan of Sutter. The only thing that bothered them was that COVID prevented them coming here for close to two years. If anything, Johnny is concerned that he might get marooned again in Canada. We are creeping towards future travel bans. He likely is able to continue to travel across the border for hockey, but may not be able to have visitors from south of the border.

Lindholm is our best or 2nd best player. I get that we lost a cornerstone, but a rebuild is never going to happen.

I don't get the reason why it unfolded the way it did. It wasn't like OMG, such a difficult decision. You don't decide in the 11th hour. I could see if it was i'm only staying if it's this much. But getting that offer and then deciding? No way. What if the best offer is in Seattle and it's only $9.5M. Unless of course he already knew the offers. Yeah, I'm turning down $11M because TSN has me a #1 on trade bait. Anyway, moving on. NJ can have both Gaudreau and Tkachuk, and all we want is Hischier. Fair trade. They get a top line duo to play with Hughes. Or we replace JH with one of the many guys not qualified. If we can get really good offers for Tkachuk, we do it. Moved on from two that have had less than stellar playoffs. Or we trade him to Ottawa for Stutzle. Nothing less.

We were a playoff team and eliminated. Because the team didn't score when we needed to. We barely scored against DAL, and blew Marky's best performances against them. Should have been done in 4, then we wouln't have 4 players injured. My point being, in two series that we could easily have beaten both, we didn't get it done. Maybe with one or two different guys we do that. When Backlund is your best player in a round, something is wrong. So, we needed to fix the team anyway, but had no cap. Now we cleared up a bucnh of potential spent cap. We need a dynamic C. We need a playmaking winger. We need another top D. None of that has really changed. Maybe Tkachuk gets us two of those pieces. Or Mangiapane gets us a C.

I'm not that familiar with him, so I was just going of stats. TBH, I don't remember him exactly killing us this year. He played two of three games and score 1g and 1a in one game. I do think that Tkachuk has more name recognition than we give credit for. Does that mean we can get anything for him? I would hope so. Maybe we cab trade Tkachuk to Philly for Konecny and Provorov. Then they might have a line that could score?

We saw the regression in the playoffs. So, what we need to do is have a roster that can win in the playoffs. Tkachuk started out in the wrong way, and ended up being nothing. The logical thing is to use our best tradable asset and get some good players. Sign FA's that complement and can score in the playoffs.

We want another smaller winger? Can he pass? Would need to replace Gaudreau. Doesn't make us better. Would take something like Mangiapane + Kylington. Or Tkachuk. If we were doing Tkachuk, I would want Chychrun + Keller.

You would almost think Philly had had a convo with him, seeing as they made some moves and have had discussions about JVR. All it would need be is a phone call to Hayes to grease the monkey.

I get that now, but it makes no sense that you put the agent in that position. What was the point of it? He got offers he won't get anywhere. They don't have to beat the Flames, just themselves. Or just be in the right zipcode.

The only possible positive is that he didn't say he wanted to test the market but would absolutely sign with CGY if they had a strong offer. Instead we get the "love to be here if it works". Then, somehow it's a last minute family decision? BS, he knew it all along.

That's quite the disconnect. Agent just got screwed out of extra money by his client not being honest. And he waited to the last minute to make that decision? BS. He knew exactly what was going to be offered.

Sign with Philly and Torts. Maybe the tough love is the only way he can play. But I don't expect him to win any scoring titles or be part of best line in hockey. He can drag around Hayes.
