COL has big cap problems. I would love to snag Nich, but his last two years he showed as being a bit of a douchebad. I'm not sold that it's all on him but there are some signs. Wouldn't do Kadri for it though. Lose a top C for a winger.

This is an odd year for our picks. The only way we keep the pick away from MTL is if it's top 10 and FLA is not. We place in or just outside the playoffs, they get the better of our and FLA picks. We may be a basement team this year, but two in a row is not how we roll.

I wonder if the Lombo signing means that Rooney is on his way out. You could have Pospisil as 4C, since they believe he could play C. Then you have options on wing like Pelletier, Lombo, Klapka.

Kylington was not close in the offer from either side, so they may, as they say, circle back. Lombo is another of the heart guys like Coleman. Doesn't just play a shift. I don't want him out there fighting, but he will take on anything. I don't think he's taking away a deserving kid's spot. He will fire them up and maybe we lose a boring, less committed player. Sharky was already playing C and they wanted Zary at C. The opportunity was not really there until after season was toast. The coach suggested that it's very tough to be a rookie C in the league. Let's take a breath and see what lines and this roster looks by camp. It may not be close to done. And it's not really win now, just compete now.

I think it's rather funny that VAN took a huge swing at Lindholm and gave away a ton, and essentially did it to get Debrusk, while BOS sat in the weeds and only let Debrusk go, escaping a huge overpay.

Good signing for term, just can never figure out how they manage the cap. Holland was bad, but he always managed to stay within it. I'm not sure how Brown's bonus fits in, but it's not cheap. Add to that the dead cap for couple buyouts. Last year of the Neal anchor. They need to get creative.

It's insane if you take into account the wear and tear on him. It's insane that he would get a long term deal. What is not insane is the $5M AAV. Lots of lesser players get more and wingers do frequently. I wouldn't do it because we don't need a C that doesn't drive play.

Yes, the old "value" props. In some ways we got the best player when available, with some arguments from the expert scouts. I like what we did, just was hoping to get a top C. Maybe we have a real sleeper there that will blow the doors off, but generally we are not likely getting better than a Sharky at C. That's still high praise, but not the elusive #1, which of course is not available at any spot we looked.
