Look at the trade thread and the Blow it up one. Fans are tired of losing. The goals against in game threads are blamed on the goalie. It's more than one thing leading up to the goals, but the last line of defense plays a part. And if that part looks like a leaky glove or too many goals on too few shots, fans are going to focus on it. That just brings back painful memeories of the Oilers series. I could care less what Francis says about it. The only two goals against were on the first 3 shots. perfect shots or not.
Yesterday was a good step in showing that the game isn't in his head. After the first two goals he didn't face much for two periods but wasn't rattled when the shots started coming. Markstrom down and out is 100% compete and better to watch than deep in the net leaving massive holes. Vladar is less likely to show that, since he is technical and moves with the angles. Better or worse, who knows. He has holes the book hasn't shown.
Anyway, the point is to get the W's. Who is likely to give you the best chance based on the game at hand. Recency bias has to creep into that decision making process. Given the problems we see with the team, which one can backstop them the best. The Flames did something they hadn't done since the CHI game. Get in a hole then lock it down and make a comeback. Is the hole concerning or the play afterwards more indicative of just a bad start that needs support from the goal scorers.
