  1. Not seeing a lot of good stuff tonight. Holy crap people, shoot. Stop passing off
  2. The PK has been sucking for weeks. If we are close, a PK will let in a goal. And yes we are always close
  3. I ignore the politics of owners. I had only heard about the Ghila Arena cancelling the contract, not that he wasn't paying them. One would think that Tempe would not approve a new one if he was a bad tenant.
  4. The shadows should help tell a player when someone is coming. Hubey wasn't looking and was stripped from behind.
  5. I hope they stay there and then win the Bedard sweeps. He will be great for them when they build the new arena. EDIT - I mean in the desert, not at the little arena
  6. We shoud call the team Calgary Doinks. Hitting the post sounds like we are doing well, but the outside of the post is basically a miss. Zero chance of going in off the goalie.
  7. Sutter is rolling 4 almost equally. Every line has 4-5 minutes. Either he's a genius for saving players for tomoroow, or he's an idiot.
  8. Duehr is the only one that can play with Lucic and Lewis it seems. Maybe sit Lucic and play an actual NHL player?Oh, Lucic is a goal scorer. My bad. Feed him 15 minutes
  9. Thanks for the GDT Deeds. Actually we have a win streak against them. Won in December with Vladar in nets.
  10. Don't get me wrong. I have a tech background, going back to the day of mainframe... I just don't care enough about instant information to bother using my phone to read and post to the forum. Besides, I tend to have open at least 4 windows when I do surf. And I have fat fingers. LOL
  11. Teams are loading up on first rounders. Some already have more than one. I doubt even 3x1st round picks gets you 1st overall. In fact, I can't think of a single team that would trade that pick away.
  12. Teams with playoff aspirations or just any NHL team? And to be fair to Calgary, we are playing him not that he cracked the lineup. If I was Seattle, I would want to protect Beniers. Or NJ to protect Hughes and such. And those are just teams that might like to have him in the lineup at some point.
  13. Well, I was being generous. He's certainly not about to give a hometown discount. Nor do I blame him.
  14. Pat Steinberg @Fan960Steinberg ยท 40m #Flames projected tonight vs. Arizona, per the team: Dube-Lindholm-Toffoli Pelletier-Kadri-Huberdeau Mangiapane-Backlund-Coleman Lucic-Lewis-Duehr Hanifin-Andersson Weegar-Tanev Zadorov-Gilbert Vladar So, it comes down to "must be Ruzicka" when figuring out the loss vs wins. The choice to start Vladar is likely to try to secire a win against a lotto team, while the scheduled loss gets Markstrom as the starter. Not a bad strategy I guess. Markstrom played better against NY than against Philly. But who knopws. Vladar normally gets the B2B 2nd game or the tougher game and we lose.
  15. Lineup not set yet, but it appears that Duehr in and Ruzicka out. Mackey skating, so they may go with 11F and 7D. The only way I can imagine that is if they double shift a top 9 player and sit Lucic or Lewis.
  16. Thought this might show some of the struggles we have. The conclusion is obvious, but the playoff teams are going to be a much bigger fight when the playoffs are looming. Think of the PREDS game last year just before the end of the season. Derek Wills @Fan960Wills #Flames are 15-9-5 (.604) vs. teams currently in a playoff spot and 11-11-6 (.500) vs. teams currently out of a playoff position. 12 of final 25 games are against non-playoff teams. Flames have to pick up two points in the majority of those games, starting tonight vs. #Yotes.
  17. Just to point out, we do see it differently. I appreciate your passion about this. I view last year's results as an outlier for the way the game was played. We had comebacks, closing out games when leading after 2, awesome goaltending, career years from players in their final contract year. Tkachuk and Gaudreau were amazing at creating something out of nothing, when they gained the O-zone. We had 3 skating puck moving D-men and 3 stay at homes ones. Lucic still had enough in the tank to do more than be on for a goal against. The coaching got credit for it, but was as much individual stars as anything. You can argue that we have less talent, so any shortfalls are the result of that. Or you can choose to look at the style being played and come to the conclusion that it was not sustainable, even with those same players. We struggle and have struggled playing some teams that move the puck quickly. We seem to only look for the perfect shot on the PP, so the shot volume is deceiving. I don't know what the solution is. Scoring greasy goals is one thing, but if that's the only type the coach is calling for then we won't be scoring much. With goaltending being more exposed and the D making bad decisions (which they always have done) we need more than greasy goals. EDM barely scores a single 5v5 goal per game. That game isn't sustainable, but they get enough to win some nights.
  18. Call me old, but I don't like using my phone for surfing. JTec is obviously good at posting from twitter things he sees. I use Chrome on a Chromebook to save me from extra steps needed to get into the site. The only issues I have had is the one we all had plus the security setting that changes about a year ago. We lost a lot of good men then.
  19. And I would say the last smart coaching change we made was hiring Bob Hartley. At the time, he was the right coach for a year. The choices from then onward have seemed rushed. Gully - was a poor choice, never really got the sense he had a clue. BP - very rushed, on the market for a day. Wardo - interim and hired since we just wanted stability? Sutter - suggested that he was the only option for BT if BT wanted to replace Wardo. I don't think a coach change is always the right thing to do. Hartley going was the right choice, but the replacements have not been thought out. Gully may have been an okay A/coach, but he was never ready to be the head coach. Peters was the opposite of Gully style, Hard arse that beat on the team to get results. No great results in CAR, so not sure why it was a good choice at the time. Seemed rushed. Wardo should not have just got the job without an exhaustive search. Going to Sutter had it's merits. I don't know that the summer suggested a change was due? Tkachuk and Gaudreau leaving may have been a clue to the team's feeling about the coach or their performance under him. The collapse against EDM was both players and coaching.
  20. Easy to look at another team and suggest that everyone is singing Cumbaya. BOS is and has been a contender for a long time. They love beating TOR every year. Besides McAvoy signed for 9.5M and Pasta is set to get paid at least Tkachuk money if not Hubey money. Are they worth it? Of course. Bergeron signed a short deal at age 37. Not exactly the all for the team view. I just think that we don't have the team that can preach all for the team. You don't have the winning pedigree that makes players agree to discounts. It's in the North and the tax structure is prohibitive. If you want to build a team like you suggest, then there won't be any UFA's coming. We would need to draft the team and make trades for nobodies.
  21. How about fans.fans.fans.community.Flames.fans.com
  22. "I'd go" is the operative words here. You see problems and would like to fix them or at the very least try something that might work. I think the D you are suggesting is what I would do as well. Keep Weegar on the LD. Gilbert has shown he can play RD. I think you could safely swap Huberdeau with Dube and not see any issues. Actually there are a number of option, other than doing diddly-f-all. There's not enough right to stay the way we are.
