who is that guy though?? I really don't think Bobro wants to play out west.. Too much travel.. etc.. My feeling is that .. We have Rittich.. He seems comfortable here.. let's bring in someone that can play.. 30 plus games under 2.5 gag and .900 plus save % and run with this

you can structure a contract almost anyway the goalie and his agent agree to.. problem is.. Goalie may only play 40 games but agent wants to be payed for 365 days a year.. Dollars per game would be astronomically high.. As far as I can see.. Only thing you re not allowed to negotiate is the right to play in international tournaments such as the Olympics or everyone would have a participation clause in their contract

there simply has to be more than 30 qualified number one goalies of NHL calibre in the entire hockey world.. Where are our scouts???

i'm more of a fan of turning the net around backwards and having the other team bank the puck in off the board for a goal than ever seeing Smith in net here again.. I have to disagree with you about Talbutt having the worst glove hand.. Smith is so slow on his glove side.. he couldn't catch time even if it stopped

i'm okay with Smith resigning... only if he's allowed to use a fishing net instead of a trapper.. His glove hand is so slow , he's have a heard time catching a bowling ball

ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm you're defense is still porous as hell ....nobody to clear the front of the net.. Valamaki needs a vet steady d man to cover and mentor him.. I'd take Jarry and park him in the AHL as insurance but would sign someone like Reimer as well as backup.. That's like a brand new team up front.. If you're gonna dream.. Dream big!! lol I don't see a lot of movement on forwards too early in the season
  8. I started a joke.. which started the whole world crying.. but I didn't see.. that the joke was on me
  9. from experience.. I don't think the culture shock these days would be near what it was when the first wave of Europeans came here in the late seventies.. I left my home in the maritimes in 1976 and moved 3000 miles west to Calgary.. Not knowing a soul.. no relatives.. and yes.. definitely a very very different culture. and basically a new language.. I did just fine
  10. I agree with all of this cept I'd like to hold onto Mangiapane.. There are a few minor leaguers I'd swap ahead of him.. Lazar.. And Ruzicka.. Lazar I think will continue to be a bust here and Yea Ruzicka had a decent year after he was traded but the personality issues that comes packaged with him might be too much to ever make the big step on a permanent basis

even in Smith's wins this year.. we almost always get scored on in the first 10 minutes of a game and end up playing catch up.. sometimes it seems to get us into the game but I'd probably lean to starting Rittich for the first 10 minutes of every game and playing it by feel the rest of the game

Smith playing the puck is helping nobody.. The Flames simply don't score when Smith is in net

As I've said before.. Smith has the worst glove hand in the league.. His reaction time has slowed considerably and unless he starts to cheat alot to his glove hand.. he's not the goalie to bring success in the playoffs... Rest Rittich as we'll be needing him to play damn near every playoff game unless we go up 3-0 or 3-1 in series and thus allowing rittich a rest day... BTW.. are the Seattle draft rules the same as Vagas in that we have to expose a veteran goalie?? if so.. I can see us holding on to Smith for next season as Seattle will need some overpriced players to make the cap floor. Otherwise I just don't see Smith as a valid option here next year

well this is certainly a sad read.. here i am enjoying the leafs getting their butts wiped by Chicago. and then this.. Well Larry.. you will be missed.. and to Larry's family.. I hope you have a way to access this site and see how larry has made his way into lives of people you don't know.. larry was a friend.. to all.. I had a brain aneurysm about seven years ago and miraculously survived and came away with a new life motto.... Every day above ground.. is a good day.. Larry will be looking down from the heavens every day of our lives.. R.I.P.. AFA.. Parktonboy

If that was not Smith's last night in goal as a Flame.. We have a legitimate Management issue somewhere on this team!!! The behind the net was inexcusable but not at all unexpected... Smith's reaction time is nowhere near what is needed for a top caliber NHL goalie.. The high glove side shot is almost a guaranteed shot.. He has the worst glove hand i've ever seen.. The long shot between the legs which any Peewee player could have stopped was down right embarrassing..Smith's age and injuries have caught up to him.. Great guy?? yes.. No doubt!! Upper tier league goalie?? not even close!! As we did not pick up a legitimate 3rd goalie at the trade deadline.. we are who we are for the rest of the season.. Rittich clearly has the net for the rest of the season barring an injury
  16. everything built by Yankees here in Calgary seems to come from California.. They don't hire eastern bums and scums for jackSatoshi Nakamoto out this way
  17. I won't support an arena for Calgary drawn up by any American architect.. Have they no clue down there that it's winterish 8 months of the year up here?? All our malls across the country are being converted to outside walking malls and the parking lots have 20 miles of curbs.. They not understand the concept of freezing your assets or plowing snow??there is never an area to pull up temporarily in front of these malls to pick up a person so they don't have to shop with skates on to get to their vehicle afterwards

Trade deadline in mind.. Rittich fell apart last year when Smith was gone.. This year.. Smith is still around and plays a seemingly important role in Rittich's mental make-up.. Maybe what we should really be looking for rather than a back-up.. is a competent emergency number 3 guy as our farm team goalies are crappin the bed this year

true.. but.. last night after the first goal went in.. the entire bench had a look of aw fucccc!!! here we go again.. Sucked all the energy out of the team right at the start of the game and they looked lost or severely uninterested in continuing for the rest of the night

it seems to me that last year.. Rittich was going just fine until Smith went out and the pressure of being the top goalie really affected his mental state.. This year, once again, Rittich is doing just fine , but with Smith's status quite unclear.. I wouldn't take the same chance that Smith goes out again and leaves GSD without a backup.. Soooooooooooo.. I'd deal for a veteran/healthy back-up now as a xmas present for the team.. James Neal as shooter number three last game was probably his last chance here to get on board and it failed.. Neal is out of place here and I would trade Smith and Neal for a good healthy veteran back-up and move forward with the team

Something is definitely wrong with Smith.. Either his body is broken down or it;s his head cause he;s just not in the game.. If It's his body , then give him the time off to heal and bring in another goalie.. to spell of the kid.. If it's his head.. Put him on waivers.. he's just too old to have enough time to heal that.. Either way.. The kid proved last year that he's not ready for 60 games and we need an immediate fix with a different vet to baby sit the kid cause Sigalet can't play net or help him at this point in time
  22. I was initially so happy to once again have the Olympics as the 88 games were such a tremendous time here in Calgary.. it was almost spirituous how the entire city came together and the joy it brought for so many.. I'm afraid that at the current stated price of 5.3 Billion.. there is no way in hell i'll be able to support this bid.. We Calgarians Pay Federal/provincial and civic taxes.. Which are the three levels of government promising money for these games.. as well.. We also will be the only ones buying tickets to the events!! Where , in this sad economic times of this city and province are we to come up with this kind of luxury money?? The Ski jump that sits idle at C.O.P. won't even be used as this event will be held at Whistler.. Many other events will also be held outside the city.. Last olympics.. there were thousands upon thousands of corporate volunteers that really had an economic impact on keeping the costs under control.. These companies either have moved out of calgary or no longer exist... How can we manage a 5.3 billion dollar Olympics with all facilities already built and just in need of a face lift when the last games only cost 800 million which included the building from the ground up of all the facilities?? I won't vote no.. But I just can't vote yes.. I'll live with whatever results the plebiscite determines
  23. 8,5 as a bottom line for this Olympics versus 800 million last Olympics which included building all the facilities is so far out of reality it just doesn't make economic sense regardless of the economic impact.. I had such a blast inn 88 and was very enthutiastic about hosting this new one until I saw the dollars.. This dreamm of our Mayor Nemshi.. to turn Calgary into Little Dubai is a fantasy.
  24. The Flames simply hired the wrong King.. They were thinking.. Frank King of Calgary Olympic glory.. .. Now they might need Don King to run the negotiations.. but they'd probably be better off at this point with.. Martin Luther King
  25. I think he has a personal agenda to tern Calgary into little Dubai
