  1. True. It was a pretty good reach at a 7th, putting it into perspective. Good Swiss league vet eventually. Good on him. Beautiful country. It's a big deal for these individuals just to say they were drafted by the NHL. I have friends that played in leagues overseas and loved it. Even the Italian League. You're 21-23yo, not an NHLer, it's pretty attractive for 5 years to see the world, all expenses paid, some cash in your pocket, and locals babying you.lol Great life experiences for them. Hockey's a great path. There is life outside of making the NHL. Not making the NHL is hardly failure.

  3. In fairness, it takes more than 1 game. I'm sure he was more than a little nervous worrying about missing an assignment. He did well being back to help the D as a C needs to. Let's not forget that he's playing the most important position. A few more games he'd settle in a little better, but he likely won't get the chance. He did nothing to lose the game, to be sure. I'd give him a couple more games, but I'm not seeing him at practice either. He's likely a good prospect for 3C in a yr or 2, or he'll have a good career overseas, nothing wrong with that either. I'd love to get paid to see the world.lol Loved the pick as he was a Sting player at the time. He can be great offensively, can stickhandle in a phone booth and has a wicked shot, but his fight is consistency. He'll have games where he looks entirely disengaged. I believe it's because he gets too worried about his D zone. He'll play almost like a 3rd dman and his O play will disappear entirely. Sutter's a great coach and Ruzicka needs one to find his balance. He's stuck as a tweener right now, I think he's done all that he can at the A level. If anyone can show him the next steps, it's Sutter. Would be great to see. Get him an NHL goal and he'd likely settle in better.
  4. I thought his compete level wasn't looking like taking advantage of getting a shot. Fumbled the puck a lot and fared less than average at winning puck battles. Likely playing nervous, trying not to be a problem rather than making a difference. He's always been good on faceoffs. Got a shift with JG-Chuk after Lindy worked the PK. Woulda been nice to see something happen but he was bumbling the puck still. Ice looked pretty crap, lotsa bouncing pucks.
  5. It looked like DeBoer came in with a good plan. We use our D a lot in the o-zone 5-on-5, but the Knights negated that most of the night.
  6. Tanev enjoyed his Saturday night on the strip?
  7. Time to ratchet up the intensity on the Vegan Golden Blights. It's game day my fellow carnivores. Let's pound these tofurkeys to dust with the flaming red anvil of bad intentions.
  8. Still going hot butter. 22 games; 13-23-36pts. Tied for 6th in the O for pts. Tied for 3rd in assists. Not bad for a 19yo 2020 6th rder. https://www.nhl.com/player/rory-kerins-8482209
  9. Pyro, where are you? He's tech savvy. Or mod jj to give him full access to share his thoughts with peeps. Or am I computerese illiterate?lol
  10. I'm in agreement across the board. I'm glad that you touched on adversity and we haven't really had any. I think we have a good roster to deal with any. Good pieces that can move around the roster. The 1st line has been great. They play simple. JG and Tkachuk have been great tossing the puck to each other across ice. Doesn't have to be tape-to-tape when both are great at fishing the puck. Lindholm is stalwart defensively and a dangerous trailer. The 1st line is working great. Backlund has been nails imo. He's playing aggressive defensively and in the neutral zone and I'm loving the edge he's playing with. Even if he's taking penalties I'm okay with that because they are typically aggression penalties. Salary vs pts with him doesn't matter much to me. Mangia's driving tons of offence due to Backlund's play imho. Always respected Backlund's 200' game but also thought he rarely plays with an edge. Now I think he's the captain, personifying what this team wants to be - hard to play against. I believe Sutter is handling Monahan masterfully. He hasn't been 100% in quite some time and Sutter's building his game back with great patience. I think Mony's getting a bit better game by game. When he's fully back up to speed, I think he'll be the difference-maker that we used to know. I'll go out on a limb and say he'll end up pumping 25 this year. What's impressing me has been his passing and puck pursuit in the o-zone, creating turnovers. Most importantly for me, is at long last the Flames have stopped laying a giant egg when the backup gets the start.
  11. Kylington can be a Satoshi Nakamototy dman when he wants to be. WTF was that half-assed crap? Take your effing guy, don't watch him.
  12. Mony's coming around, I'm telling you guys. He'll get going and be a great piece to have back. "Trade him" Blockchainers. You're wrong.
  13. I didn't even give up a goal in practice. It got boring.lol
  14. I played net. I uttered it from puck drop.lol
