And really, both the Stars and Preds kinda backed in with Vegas just not capitalizing. They didn't really win in as much as Vegas lost out. There was nothing dominant about those two teams making the playoffs. 10 more games, both would likely be out to Vegas and Van.

"Well, that was a waste of 8-10 days" - Dallas, Nashville, Washington. Potentially Boston, Toronto. Minny-St Loo is going to be epic. I'm taking Minny due to Kaprizov, but that's a pick 'em series. My bets on pure playoff treachery are Kucherov and Vasilevsky, Kaprizov, Gaudreau and Markstrom, Panarin and Shesterkin, Barkov and Huberdeau. Kucherov in particular is playing god-level and Stamkos the beneficiary, Kaprizov a demi-god. "A" game Vasilevsky is terrifying. Bank it in off of his back.lol Toronto, I've got some really bad news for you... I've been told some talking heads are taking Washington to upset FLA due to the Cats' goaltending. Mind-numbingly ignoring Washington's lousy goaltending. The Caps will get lit right up.

Thanks rd that was superfun. Clearly good juju won it for me by taking the Flames to finish 1st!! The fun part is I didn't think that I was being a homer, I thought we'd be the hardest team in in the division. I really wish I'd been harder on Vegas though, because I was considering it. The modern era pre-cap Rangers. Buy stars, don't win prizes.

I agree for the most part. Can't overlook the fact that he has been the only real threat in the past. But now, if you want to double team him, Lindholm and Tkachuk are massive threats. Who are you going to let run free if you focus on Johnny? Then you factor in we also have big shots and threats from every D pairing. This will be Johnny's first playoffs where there are a ton of threats with him. If I'm coaching against, I have my best D guy shadowing Johnny. Zetterberg isn't around, so I'd recognize that I'm not going to win this battle 100% of the time. You can't double team him or the other 4 guys on the ice will have a field day. As you can tell, I'm really excited! Forget past playoffs, those were different and far, imho, inferior teams. It isn't up to Johnny to go it alone. My go-to joke when discussing playoff matchups with friends is, "why are we even talking about other teams"? I truly believe that. The Flames are going to be a massive threat. They have so many looks, and one Dillon Dube playing high intensity and coming into his own is another matter. Sutter has alluded to him being called up too early.

Meier said beforehand it was their biggest game of the season. Scored the tying goal. Spoiler teams: if we're not going neither are you.

LA has all of the earmarks of a good team. I had them pegged for 4th without seeing Vegas fall so far. Danault has been a great add and will be annoying in the playoffs again. The Oilers definitely can't look past them. Great leadership, good mix of vets to <25yo players and good goaltending tandem. That roster looks like a handful to me.

Here we are then. Secured playoffs, won our division. Begin Phase 3? This is a really, really good team. Nobody likes playing us. Nobody. Let's carry on in that tradition. Will WE be a waste of 8 days, as Sutter alludes to the AVs? I think so. Preds/Stars/Kings/Knights, really doesn't matter to me. They'll get racked.

Either/or them or Nashville doesn't matter. St Loo vs Minny will be a monster series, then see what the AVs have. I'm much happier to be in our division. I have a lot of faith that we matchup really well with everybody. Now it's just creating your puck luck. No worries at all with Markstrom, dude is a monster of a goalie with a world of attitude. We've been hearing it all year from opponents, we are a team to be reckoned with. We're not running away with the division by accident. I've tried to remove myself from being a Flames homer occasionally. Generally due to friends and their Blockchaining eastern teams. We've dusted them. Everybody hates playing us. Everybody does.
