  1. As much as our development team gets beaten down, I think we have an excellent team that is very good at letting prospects know "how" to work on areas that need improvement. His skating isn't terrible, just needs to improve. He'll learn to despise skating with a parachute and endless crossover drills.lol And of course the gym and dryland footwork drills with ankle weights on. Mindset is so important for prospects. Once you're drafted the really hard work starts. I think he's likely to join after this season and begin his journey in the A. He doesn't lack much, Toffoli isn't a great skater but he's having a nice career.
  2. Holy, the Sens are unleashed this offseason.
  3. Dude, honestly? Wright's fall was, imho, "oh, he's not going to be the next McDavid". He'll be the next Toews but apparently no one understands how key that is. That has zero to do with the player. You don't have much say when the adults are hypeing you through the roof and then turn on you for a new flavour, mainly to be "alternative". This will be fun to watch, Montreal.
  4. I'm a big fan of that location myself. I find the Stampede area really dumpy and half sketchy. Along the river along Bow Trail west of downtown would be a prime area to turn into something. Has anything happened with that Greyhound Stn? I haven't been in, like, 6 years. Calgary needs a bunch of infrastructure upgrades. They pushed a lot of it outwards as the city expanded, but the downtown core has disintegrated into not nice, at all, regarding public transportation imo.
  5. Logos I understand... I like the Blasty concept, I get it, but I hate the design. A dragon horse is fine, but damn that's not what I would do. That's a horse that ate a ghost pepper.lol
  6. I'm sure they all agreed that they saw something. He was easily the most complete player in the draft. Everyone else has weaknesses that they'll have to work on to be NHL-ready. Wright is a lot closer.
  7. Yay or Nay? Do people like this jersey? I need to know.lol
  8. As much as I want to see more of Sweden, I would LOVE to see a Canada-US final. And wish it was a best of 3. My hat goes off to Germany for about 4-5 years now. Their hockey is REALLY coming along. Just keeps improving. More scouts in Germany, it's burgeoning. Their kids now have NHL heroes. I wouldn't sleep on having a heavy scouting presence there. Hockey has become a big deal there. Draisaitl, Stutzle, Seider...the list will grow.
  9. I will always remember that as the, "Shane Wright Fiasco". He was the best player in the draft, Hands down imho. This consensus crap takes on a life of it's own. What a win for Seattle. They must have been pinching themselves. Wright and Beniers down the middle. Now they seriously have 2 great young Cs to build around. I believe in building from the net out. Solid Cs are the cherry on top. Now they can focus on the net out without worrying about the cherry.
  10. I've always had a problem with this. The whole crowd makes things unanimous and everyone just seems to fall in line. I've said this before, if I'm a mgr and you're my head jr scout, if I catch any of your people mingling in the scout crowd, you're out of a job. You're there for me and this team, not to make friends. If I can't trust you with that, go work for someone else. I know a couple of scouts. It's pretty much useless to try to have a visit with them at a hockey game. It's an old boys club. They all sit in the same section, rub elbows and tell each other how smart they are. It is painful. I would lose my excrement if that's what I was paying you to do. This is where I love Yzerman. Detroit makes their picks and the talking heads scramble for their notes. Consensus is bs. Why would I even pay for scouting?
  11. No kidding. That team is stealth. No Beniers, no problem. Quite the puck-moving D they've got. On a side note, I'd never think Edvinsson is 6'6" the way he moves. Excited to see what he can do this year.
  12. That line is Cooley-Bordeleaux-Coronato. But it's not unusual for that much talent to drift wherever it takes. I think the RW for the US is: Samoskevich Coronato Mazur Lucius But not necessarily in that order. Coranato's line has been pretty dominant. Really good team and really good defensively.
  13. I agree. Needs a skating coach for sure. He reads the ice pretty well and of course the great shot. He's an 'A' prospect for sure, but needs to get that leg strength. It'll come.
  14. It really is. I was '94-2012 in Calgary, then a frequent visitor. It's a bummer that so little is invested towards any kind of top-shelf entertainment experiences.
  15. So much for, "build it and they will come". ARI and Ottawa will end up with arenas before Calgary, who should have been between Detroit and NYI. Amazing that they can't make it work. The 'ol dome isn't exactly a nice experience.
  16. No reason to hate to say it. He made Gudbranson acceptable, Zadorov better and Kylington play to his strengths. If Valimaki is an NHL dman, he's got the coach to help with that.
  17. Hopefully he can get it back. I agree he was looking good.
  18. I have to revert to BT. But it's definitely worth being patient. I know there are still a few things to do, I'm sure he's got a card or 2 up his sleeve. We can always expect the unexpected.lol Hate to rush to graduate guys, but I hope that can happen.
  19. $14-$15mil in cap space next year without Weegar. If we were to move Lucic or Mony now and utilize the cap savings, we're getting into cap gymnastics for next year already.
  20. It would take a 3rd team to broker the deal without question, so they'd get a 2nd from us for brokering, but we'd still likely retain at least $1mil.
  21. Wow we're really dreaming up Lucic having any trade value here aren't we...
