  1. Yeah he's not making this team. Nothing more than a shiny name. Cut him loose.
  2. Likely ditch the PTOs and that's our F group. Outside of replacing 2 stars, not much change. The D depth is much better though. I believe Poirier-Tanev is a pairing for today.
  3. I think the 2nd line is Mang-Kadri-Dube today.
  4. Totally with you. Valimaki likely has zero trade value. I thought investing in him with the contract would pay dividends. It just isn’t the case. Milano has been a firm no from me from the outset. There’s a reason botom-feeder ANA didn’t renew him. He’s just not good enough to crack our roster. We tried.
  5. Watch Huberdeau go on a tangent and frighten the Oilers faithful.lol He’s pretty intense. It would surprise me little if he told Sutter he wants in on Oilers hate. I kinda hope Dube gets RW shifts with him.
  6. Valimaki has really regressed. It’s a shame, he showed a lot of promise in his rookie season. I’m a Meloche fan, with the disclaimer that I love dmen that play D effectively and quietly. He plays a very safe game, plays angles right, is physical and gets the puck out safely. I think we can carry 8 dmen effectively. Weegar, Anderson, Hanifin, Tanev, Kylington, Zadorov, Stone and Meloche. That’s a solid D corps. We’re going places. Even the A roster looks really good. This year is going to be superfun to watch. And Detroit looks pretty solid too.😬 I’m jacked for this season.
  7. Looks like the Oilers are sending nothing for tonight.
  8. Puljijarvi is a very middling player. I’m not sure what you’re watching. Those wonderful “underlying stats” only show he’s not driving offence. So what, 3rd line RW? Why? I prefer Dube.
  9. Why? Our D is solid. Another 3RW to elevate to top 6? What difference does it make?
  10. I used to do preseason games and camps quite a bit. I know what you mean. I also feel the first 15 games of the season are meh, the NHL hockey still hasn’t fully kicked in and a few really average players might throw up 8 goals and finish the entire season with 12. On the Dube front, I’m just a hockey fan. He’s highly skilled in my eyes, he’s a good player. Yet it feels like he gets treated like expectations aren’t realistic so he’s a throwaway in every trade proposal. I think that’s a huge mistake. He’s gonna be 26-27 one day, and no one will be drawing Ryan/Byron comparisons. My opinion. “He doesn’t fit” is another argument. Fit what? He can play RW, everyone wants one. He’s one. He wasn’t Rantanen at 23. Poor playoffs…compared to who? Who did much? New season, give the young guy a chance. Stop trading a young player with 25/30 55 pt potential.
  11. This is why I always finish ahead of you in the pool these days.lol We lose that trade. Thankfully, it ain’t happening.
  12. Nothing good starts by someone saying, “Look”. And here we are. All the patience in the world for Mangiapane, zero for Dube, who just turned 24. It makes zero sense to trade him when all he lacks is growing by experiencing. Sutter sees potential. I do too.
  13. Thanks tmac, good post. It’s probably time for some to stop trading Dube, and to start considering Rozie and Phillips and what we can get from ARI/BUF. Giving up on Dube is a fool’s game imho. He came up too early because: A: the big team was pretty vacuous at F. B: He’s too good for the A. He’s being judged by his 22-23yo seasons.and compared to bread at an older age. IMO, Dube is only weak in center of gravity and decision-making. Near everyone does at the NHL level. Add in the tumultuous coaching change to a real coach. Dube was only 22, the big ? mark. Sutter said, “some guys brought up too early”. You know he’s talking about Dube…my feeling is Sutter has taken him under his wing. Every fwd position to benching for a few games. Sutter and his “teachable” moments. Dube’s going to be a really good NHLer. Blockchain people, be patient. He was 23 and 24 topping our fitness training. He’ll break out. Learning curve stuff.
  14. No kidding. I believe we got a lot better. The C and D has been addressed. JH is better than JG overall, his intensity is iinsane and contagious. I’d give him the C personally. I really like FLA’s game and roster. Their fans are pretty optimistic. I think they’re in for a rude awakening. They’ve lost their 2nd line, weakened their PP and removed a dman that was great for Ekblad. Adding Schwindt and a 1st is an unreal fleecing. This is how you get Kadri to say, “oh yeah, I seriously want to talk to Calgary”. Can’t thank JG and Tkachuk enough really.
  15. Yup. He could go for higher with a solid season, which I think is in the cards.
  16. Assumed Dube would come ripped and ready. I expect a really good year for him. Stop trading him.lol
  17. Just to nip silly speculations in the bud. Rumours can take on a life of their own.
  18. https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/why-mackenzie-weegar-could-be-a-steal-and-no-1-defenceman-for-calgary/
  19. Treliving has become a pro in negotiations. Complete silence. Kadri was rumoured and then bang, done deal. He’s as tight as Yzerman at not running a leaky ship. it’s how GMs have to operate in this league if they want respect from their peers.
  20. I’m hoping Rozie makes it happen this year, 6’4”/200lbs is a good look and he’s got a good shot. Problem being I NEVER remember him playing any wing. Always center.
  21. Kylington has upside. Really just broke out a bit last year. He’s earned it for this year. Now tell me what I’m supposed to see in the Oilers selecting a 3rd liner at best as a Top 5 pick. Sounds great. And why would we want him. He had McDavid and Draisaitl. He’s not good enough, that’s why his path has been rough. For Kylington? Not on your life.
  22. I’ve always felt a massive no to Puljijarvi. Don’t give me underlying stats, watch him. He’s a bottom 6 guy at best. For Kylington? yeahno.
