I like that assessment a lot more than D & G. Forwards are a huge part of D. I get turnovers, but can’t let the other team’s forwards rip through the neutral zone untouched with time to think. They swung momentum like that almost at will.

Everyone needs to look at other rosters for comparison. If the only look at the Avs and Bolts, you aren’t using perspective. There are 29 other teams. Our roster stands up well. Those using the Oilers series to manifest our D and G isn’t good enough is unfair. 5 games is a very small window to negate the other 89 games played.

I’m envisioning Huberdeau seeing Stone’s shot and saying, “get open, I WILL find you”. He may be the most dynamic passer in the league. Florida down 5-1, win 7-6, the new us. Warning: he can have cold stretches, but when he’s on, he drives waves of offence with his vision and passing. This is going to be superfun to watch. He reminds me of Getzlaf. If I’m coaching against him, my first thing would be, “boys, DO NOT put a bee in this guys bonnet, he’ll get 3 times better”.

T. I’m guessing the number is currently around $6.5 longterm, how to format it is maybe the holdup? There’s risk for both sides in not getting it done. But I’d understand if Weegar wants to go to market after a year with Sutter. Sutter definitely trended his dmen upwards last year. A solid year and Weegar will be in high demand.

I’m going with similar to last year. Win the Pacific, 108ish points. Hard to play against. Huberdeau is one of the slickest players in the league. And he’s offended and is in an org saying, “no man, you’re right”. I have little doubt that he’s going to go hot butter, set career highs and everyone around him will too. He’s better than JG for my money. If someone told me we’d lose JG,Tkachuk and Gudbranson for Huberdeau, Kadri and Weegar I’d have laughed. I’d do that everyday. We’re much better now. My big prediction is Dube being a 25/25 50 point guy. As much as the Sutter doesn’t like him stuff went down, I think Sutter loves him and is coaching him. Huberdeau: 110pts Lindholm: 48 goals Kadri: 26 goals, half on the pp Mangiapane: 35 goals again Toffoli: still a reliable 20-25 goal scorer. On D, all of Weegar, Hanifin and Kylington are good for 10+ goals, 40+pts. Most of all, Huberdeau is going to terrorize the west. I’m sure the Eastern teams are relieved that he’s gone. Dude is slick as snot on a door knob. Slicker when he gets his panties in a bunch. Huge change from Gaudreau. Massive intensity.

As was indicated, he wants to stay in Calgary. With the AHL team in Calgary, maybe he’s okay with it? Play hockey for money where you live might be okay. Just don’t hit our prospects with that cannon. If he makes the big team, we still have work to do waiting for younger players.

I’ll be surprised if Pelletier doesn’t take a spot this year. I’m really hoping for a Pelletier-Backlund-Coleman line. Pelletier has the markings of a really good player. He does everything well. I’d say even outside of my Flames slant that he gets it. I don’t really agree the Sutter drift about young players. You either understand the pro game or you don’t. Need to work on this or that. I don’t see that with Pelletier.

All of this is irrelevant. He's a Canadiens. Why go on and on about this? Is it really that hard to understand that he played through Satoshi Nakamoto that he shouldn't have? That he didn't communicate it to team doctors and trainers has been well documented. Even JG saying he could barely walk but still played, nobody has ever accused athletes of being highly intelligent. Retrospect is painful. There's been a lot to reinvigorate us this year. Key core pieces out with likely better core pieces in. Why keep dredging up the rivers of negativity? What's the point? We might actually be okay. Can we get behind it, or....
