  1. 61 of his 115 points were with Barkov on the ice in 2022 even though his most common linemates were Duclair and Bennett that year. They were also each others most common linemates for many years prior.
  2. Instead of playing him down the lineup, we need to bench Huberdeau every time he makes a no look l pass. By the time next season starts, he will hopefully have it out of his game. He is not lacking effort, just kills the play everytime trying to make cute passes. He is spoiled from playing with Barkov who could retrieve it and stickhandle it around the d.
  3. We have signed Backlund to a team friendly 2 year contract and named him Captain. This is great news. We needed a captain and we have the best we could have hoped for without sacrificing our future.
  4. My thoughts and heart are with the snow family. Chris is the best part of our front office. His story and determination gave me a reminder that life is more than sports but also a outlet to discover people's character and take lessons from the hard work of other. Thank you Chris for your fight.
  5. I am against rebuilds. Not that they are dirty words but that I never want my team to throw years away. Put a team that doesn't have a shot at playoffs on the ice. Well coached teams don't need to be last in the league and more often than not, teams struggle to get out of the basement as prime years of some assets get wasted waiting for others to ascend. We just need to be able to manage rosters/ contracts choices better than we have been ( Coleman, Mang, Kad). Be willing to make deals at trade deadline to trade for youth for our experience and not think that it will ruin our chemistry. Get the best draft team. Take chances on players that slip in rounds (anderson, kylington). Be willing to walk away from players. ( Backlund...keep him for this year and make him our captain. Let him leave if he wants at season end or tdl if he wants to much).
  6. Sad to have not taken Barlow or Perreault
  7. I had Brad on my list of GM's during our last search and for better or worse he has now exited the Flames. With names floating around, there is only one so far that i would be excited to have as our GM. I dont know if he would consider it but Mark Hunter would be great. I think that his resume makes him more than qualified and can carry himself in a room with other gm's. Paired with an experienced coach would allow us to compete for years to come. We invested a lot in the current team and our puck possession, shooting numbers have been a great precursor to future success. Some player acquisition to bring in some accurate shooting and injection of youth could do wonders alongside a GM like Hunter and an experienced coach (hoping gallant).
  8. Trade pieces - 2022, 2023, 2024 1st round picks, A 2022 second round pick Any number of later picks Dylan Dube, Matthew Phillips One of Monahan (ntc), Backlund (ntc), Lindholm Use the above pieces to get us a centre and rw. Eichel (C - injured), Kopitar ( C -out of prime), Kuznetsov (C - streaky with PR issues), Tarasenko (RW - oft injured), Rielly Smith ( RW - bad year, one year left). Pay a premium for the team to hold half the salary. Sign Bobby Ryan for 1M. Make him our captain. Pick up Michael Del Col and sign to a 2way contract for 3 years. We would be... Gaudreau - Eichel* - Rielly* Tkachuk - Lindholm* - Coleman Mangiapane - Backlund* - Ryan Lucic - Lewis - Pitlick Ritchie Del Col Hanafin - Tanev Valimaki - Anderson Kylington - Zadarov Mackey I dont mind giving up picks for 3 years as long as we dont trade any other players from the farm. This would allow us to compete for 3 years. Hopefully players would want to play here and stay here and would be able to keep them longer for similar money or trade them out for good palyers.

RIP FF52. I havent been on in a while and am sad to hear that part of our hockey circle has passed. He was always active in these boards through the good and bad. Always posted his counter arguements with thought and humour. His discourse will be greatly missed in the game day threads and flames discussion threads.

The whole cold argument for lack is garbage. He played against the blues in relief of Smith for two periods and then started the next game. If that is cold, then he should not be a backup in the league. This is even more reason to cut him.
  12. I have a feeling Bart is already scheduled to be move out of the bottom pairing. BT is just waiting for the 10th game cuts to occur so he can pick up waived players for D and 4th line. Bart and Freddie will be sent down.

I had Parsons leap frogging Gillies the day we got him. He has been flashing elite skills the whole time. We are spoiled with the development goalies we got. Unfortunately or Fortunately, I believe Rittich looks to be a little better than Gillies as well but don't know how to balance with Gillies having the higher ceiling. Keeping this group together another year could mean us moving one to backup next year then having 2 the year after. Would be great.
  14. It's July 1st and not a single NHL GM can get a wink of sleep...well except for Brad Treliving. He's sleeping like a lamb.
  15. We just signed Spencer Foo. Can add him to our developmental plans. Good horse for the stables but no clue how he will develop. Like that he was a hobey Baker finalist
