  1. It depends on MTL. Most of us think they will go with a F because they have a ton of D prospects already. But if they decide to go with D, then we could see 4 straight D gone before the Flames turn at 9. Flames will be looking at Catton, Iginla, Eiserman, etc. or reach for Yakemchuk/Jiricek. If MTL takes a F, then I think there's reason to believe Parekh, Buium and Dickinson go before Silayev.
  2. How about Silayev? How to rank these 3? Buium, Dickinson, and Silayev.
  3. Ya different leagues. And then factor in Silayev. Already playing against men in the KHL and setting records as a 17 year old. How to compare to Juniors and US College? Silayev skates well for a big guy and willing to jump on the offense... Just doesn't convert as often in a tougher league and get cast off as "not as offensive Dman". But seems like Silayev is offensive when the opportunity is there. Parekh for sures gone by Utah or OTT pick. It will come down to Buium, Dickinson, and Silayev. It should be fun.
  4. Would you rather take Dickinson or Buium?
  5. Agreed. I know the Flames have traded for some D prospects and Brzy Looks good but we could use more RHS RD in the system. Henry Mews and Charlie Elick could be available with the Canuck's 1st.
  6. I feel it's either Dickinson or Silayev that remains at #9. Levshunov should go top 4. If not ANA, then CBJ. MTL already drafted D in the past few drafts. Probably goes for the best F available. I hope it's Tij. After that, OTT or ARZ will take Parekh because RHS. The other will take Buium because he's arguably as good as Levshunov all around. SEA wants D as well and has a choice between Dickinson and Silayev.
  7. Looking forward to EDM vs VAN. Should be fun.
  8. Silayev, 63 GP 3 G 8 A 11 PTS In comparison, Parekh scored, 66 GP 33 G 63 A 96 PTS Could Silayev have scored 30 G and like 70 PTS in the OHL? And as a result, eliminate all talk about his lack of offense? Are the KHL stats holding Silayev back?
  9. I noticed in the MENU, they usually have a winter ranking and then a Final ranking. This is only the Spring ranking so we can probably expect one more update before the draft?
  10. Silayev... I wonder how his numbers would've looked if he wasn't 17 playing in the KHL. What if he was in the WHL instead playing against his own age group?
  11. Keep in mind, these are just the player rankings. It doesn't take into consideration team needs... Like, I'm sure one of OTT or UTAH is going to pick Parekh. They want/need RHS RD. Levshunov, no way falls past those two teams. ANA probably takes Levshunov at #3 due to team needs. SEA and CGY should both take a D due to team needs as well.
  12. Ya pretty much. Flames have to see who falls. Maybe Dickinson, Catton, Buium, Silayev... One or more of these 4 has a chance to fall to the Flames at 9. Eiserman,... I think the Flames should not pick a winger. Tij is the only exception. I feel Buium has the best chance because he has the highest IQ. I also don't get the Levshunov rankings based on his highlight reels. He's supposedly too good already but Buium out scored him. But, that's based on the highlight reels alone. He probably has great game from shift to shift and just not very flashy.
  13. Is it Henry Mews? Can/should we draft him with our Canucks pick?
  14. I guess what disappoints me the most is that he said "Dallas" but Dallas didn't win a Cup. So are we mimicking models that bounce back into the playoffs quickly but don't necessarily win Cups? But ya, maybe DAL wins a Cup here this year. Still possible. We shall see.
  15. That snipe from Marchand though. Wows.
  16. Good news I guess, https://www.cbc.ca/amp/1.7184185
  17. That's fair. Conroy can't say the Flames are going to clean house and trade everybody because that just causes every player to feel disenfranchised and you lose trust with the players. Unfortunately, it's going to get ugly for a year or two before it gets better.
  18. I wonder if it's more likely that they can't afford it. Season ticket holders can forgive one year in the basement but you start to lose them after multiple years there. And ownership is just about making money and not about making legacy. Tanking for years is effective, if not just a natural cycle of a team. Just embrace the tank.
  19. That was the most disappointing comment I heard during the entire exit meetings. DAL drafted Heiskanen, Oettinger, and Robertson in one draft. That still required sinking to 3rd overall pick. They also had a star veteran group in Benn and Seguin to make a quick bounce back. You mentioned LA... Kopitar and Doughty are hall of famers. Both teams similar in that the core veterans are superstars to create that V-shaped recovery from the basement. Unless we think Huberdeau is a hall of fame superstar and Kadri/Weegar belong in the same conversation as those mentioned above, the Flames shouldn't expect a quick bounce back next season. It's a disappointing comments because it shows Conroy/ownership isn't committed to a patient rebuild and will rush things along as quickly as possible.
  20. "Good players go to where the puck is. Great players go to where the puck is going to be." - Great One There is no standard measure but you just have to watch the kids play. Making fakes and smart hesitations is all part of having vision... Because you see one second into the future, you want to fake a pass/shot and hang onto the puck one second longer for that play to develop. Buying time, etc. Vision without the puck as well. Understanding who is about to receive a pass or how a puck is about to bounce off the glass. Make adjustments to positioning in anticipation. I agree it's arguably the most important attribute to have but it's hard to measure properly. The obvious ones are ranked top 5 prospects. Some mid-rounders do have vision but maybe too skinny or too short at 17 to attract the eyes of scouts and coaches.
  21. Both. I enjoy the journey as much as the destination.
  22. Willing to invest in a 10 year rebuild is no longer considered a fan of a team?
  23. We only have enough talent to play Sutter defensive grindy style. So if it takes 10 years, then whatever it takes.
