I wonder how much it would take to get John Gibson out of Anaheim? They have a glut of good goalies, they basically have 4 goalies that are better than anything Calgary currently has. I usually would like to see goalies groomed quite a while in the AHL, but Gibson is a superstar and will be ready sooner rather than later. It would be take a significant package to get him but this kid is the real deal and I think he is the type of goalie you build around. It is highly doubtful that Anaheim is willing to part with him, but hey it's worth a shot. LA has a goalie that might be ready to take the next step in Martin Jones, so maybe Ben Scrivens could be had. Scrivens isn't going to be a great starter but he could be a good bridge or a stop gap.

Gotta feel for Ramo this game, hasnt played in almost two weeks and gets put in against the best team in the league right now. Hard to blame him on any of the goals so far, his defense is letting him down and Calgary is just taking too many penalties. I would hate to see him getting judged unfairly based on this game.

But you were all on board with calling Danny Taylor a prospect and he's almost a full year older than Berra. Most goalies aren't ready for full time NHL duty till they are 26 or 27. Look at what Anaheim did last year with Viktor Fasth, he played a few games in the AHL last year then came up and player very well and he's 30.

I wonder if Calgary is sitting on the retirement announcement to keep his contract on the books for cap flexibility. If they trade a couple of big cap hits like Cammalleri and Giordano for example and Kipper's contract is off the books then they fall under the cap floor. But if you keep his contract on the books like the Islanders did with Thomas last year, then you can move guys like Cammalleri and not have to worry about the contract coming back.
