I don't think we see a Lucic buyout for another full season.  Having 4 vs 6 years of cap penalty is a big deal.

Than after next season, his modified NTC kicks in (list of 8 teams he can be traded to) and then the following season (list of 10 teams he can be traded to)...

Might have to retain a bit of salary, but it could be an option...

What i'm more wondering is a Michael Stone situation where maybe we buyout Lucic and then re-sign him to league minimum.

    Could also be an option...

again , we are assuming it was him who declined to go.. ,most likely other way around .. .likely looking for another facejab to get him suspended again

Khaira was stirring up Satoshi a number of times with different players...   and he did it right to Looch's face with no retribution...   Not sure if you are familiar with the instance I am referring to, but Khaira was the aggressor with Looch...   If Khaira was wearing a different jersey from any other team that didn't have a Coilers or Bruins crest on the front, we see a different outcome...   and 'that ' is the problem...   Ask any hardcore Oil fan, and they will tell you that he would always turn his attitude down a few notches and play a different style game whenever they played the Bruins...

  3. The bear did in fact get poked...   Khaira got in his face a couple of times, most noticeably in the 3rd when he gave Looch a couple of little shoves after the whistle when they were close to the net...   That is when he was challenged, and that is when he should have responded...

Even an 18yo already should have the foundation on the basics.

I don't think at that age you would expect to teach a guy lateral movement, angles, anticipation, vision, etc.

Athleticism is definitely an advantage, but if you don't have the fundamentals down, a lot of pucks are going to get past you that shouldn't...

I read this book when I was a kid, and then read read it a few times more...   It was re-released around '97...   While goaltending has come a long way since then, the basics will always remain the same...

According to the pic it didnt help Jacques much.

Plante had his share of stitches on his face as well. and he was the first goalie to ever wear a mask back in '59 ...    But the pic is Sawchuk...

He's 37, doing what 37 year olds do....never seen a goalie make such a bad decision on which team to sign with though.   Unless he had no choice.

    Oilers doing what they do...

I have to disagree...   I think Smith made a great decision signing with the Oil...

Over the last 10 games Smith has played, he has the worst SV% of any goalie in the league that has had at least 5 starts...

It couldn't be any better...   Unless he gets even worse...   :)

Winnipeg knew more about his value.  They just did.

For one team his value was low enough that it was worth risking losing him for nothing on waivers...   For the other 30 teams, his value is being a goalie that is widely considered as having mediocre talent, who could be picked up from waivers for just the cost of paying his league minimum salary...

    Look.

Don't speak ill of the dead, I get it.

But incase you didn't notice I was trying to steer us away from posting pictures of children in here.

So you tried to accomplish a 'good deed' by making a dead hockey legend a part of your joke...   Yeah...   ok...    sure...

I heard you were lobbying to bring in Terry Sawchuk as a rental.

    He's flawless these days.

Sawchuk was one of hockey's true heroes...   and a legend...

He passed away back in 1970...

  10. I am expecting the team to respond in positive way that is quite common after a coaching change...   What is more in question is how long it will last with Ward as head coach, hopefully it will last, and not just be a short term improvement in meeting expectations...

Odds are we will see an overall upgrade in performance, and hopefully that includes point production from the top 6 forwards...

Not trying to sound cliche, but there is no other way to put it, and after 25 games it was really starting to look like Peters had lost the room...   He's gone now, so it is up to every player on the team to show us that they are willing to show up and give their best effort each and every game...

That said, this is Wards big chance to show us what he's got, and I wish him well and hope that he capitalizes on the opportunity and helps the team to turn the corner back onto the right path...

Just missed the 1 year anniversary by 2 days.💔

Still miss reading Flyerfan52's posts...   Always will...   Pretty sure that goes for a lot of us...   :(

I'll be looking forward to getting together again to watch a game and clanking a couple of beers together to remember Larry when the opportunity presents itself, and I hope that 420 can make it again as well...

Our players always get Glove punched in the face after breathing on a goalie.

It's the NHL double standards rule...   and last week a few Flames got a blocker to the face from the goalie without doing anything like what has been happening to Rittich lately...   No surprise that the refs didn't seem to care...

Speaking of Rittich taking abuse, it's been happening more often...   No wonder Lucic snapped...   Not an ideal outcome, but least he will stand up for his teammates...

Watch the 3rd goal. Watch his reaction. Look familiar?

Sure did...   and Smith lasted 22 minutes and 36 seconds before he got the hook...    That looked familiar to...

If you cut the part out out about "and last season", yes it would.     Just like yours does the way I bolded it above ;)

You are the one that said Schneider was the best performer this season...   It is a direct quote...   Not a selection of random words like you mangled...

Sometimes you are just plain full of Satoshi Nakamoto jj...   and you just proved that beyond a shadow of doubt...

How about next time you just own up to your own words like a man, and not try and misquote someone like a jackass...   ;)

I'm saying their best performer over this season and last season (Nick Schneider) probably shouldn't have been shipped off to the ECHL

and I'm saying that your own post says Gillies has been the best performer so far this season...

Nothing against Schnieder, as I happen to think that he has some good potential...   Just pointing out that your current argument lacks credibility...

Well, and with the way they bury prospects I'm not expecting to get much more ;)

Schneider had the best numbers all last year too

After one game each, Schneider has a SV% of .938, and Gillies has .958...   So by your logic, Gillies should be in the net for the Flames?...

  17. 1 hour ago, jjgallow said:

You're right, I should have posted earlier with even less data  ;).

Gillies and Schneider have only played one game apiece...   You couldn't possibly have less data,...   ;)

Yeah, where I was going with that was that Talbot played home to WASH last year and had 1 GA on 32 shots.

He didn't fare as well in Washington 2 weeks later.

Inn fact, he's beaten WAS 2/3 times at home and lost 2/2 times on the road.

    Rittich has never faced Washington.

I was just making a comment about how the Flames goaltending should hopefully turn out this season...   I think that we should be in pretty good shape...
