Carty
The Buffalo Sabres have fired GM Darcy Regier and head coach Ron Rolston... Pat LaFontaine has been named the new President of Hockey Operations andTed Nolan was named their interim head coach... LaFontaine will work with assistant GM Kevin Devine while they look for a new GM... http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=691336&navid=nhl:topheads
Flyerfan52
I'm glad to see Nolan finally getting a nother chance. It felt like he was black-balled.
Carty
I'm glad to see Nolan finally getting a nother chance. It felt like he was black-balled. Me too... What has it been, 5 1/2 years since he was with the Islanders?...
403Loyalty
Definitely a good sign for buffalo fans to see Nolan back and hope for a repeat of success. But unfortunately strange news always follows Nolan around GM's etc. worth noting when Nolan was hired for the islanders it was speculated to be a strange desicion for the owner to hire the coach and not let the GM hire someone. Now in buffalo Nolan is hired before a GM again, could we see a repeat in history?
The_People1
Well, here's another organization hiring a former player as GM/Exec who has had no prior front office experience. Should be interesting to see if Lafontaine can get it done. Maybe Tyler Myers can be had for a "fair price" now with new management. black-balled. lol i vividly recall our message board's last Ted Nolan thread getting derailed by a "black-balled vs black-list" debate. DL44
Count me in as being extremely happy for Nolan.. and good on the Sabres for bringing him back to the organization he had awesome success with.
s4xon
This is exactly what the Oilers need. A real NHL GM just became available; 17 years at his post. Oilers can dump MacT and bring in Regier as a viable GM. Or bring him in as prez of hockey ops and strip that title away from Lowe, then dump Howson. Either way, the unholy trinity in Edmonton of Lowe, MacT, and Howson aren't getting it done. Regier would be a huge upgrade in any one of those positions.
