  1. Yeah, but, who is going to pay for it? Who should pay for it? Love.
  2. For what it's worth, I think Tyler Parsons is the future of the Flames in goal. I've been thinking that since they drafted him. Love.
  3. Definitely not true, my friend. Presumably, you're referring to the Airbus A380 - which the new runway was built to accommodate. It is larger and heavier than any of the current Boeing hardware including the 747-8. This is, of itself, nothing special. Air France landed a crippled A380 yesterday at Goose Bay, NFLD. The issue there being that the terminal wasn't equipped with air stairs to actually deplane the passengers. Per this article: It'd be an excellent company for Calgary, though, and it'd do a lot to diversify the economy. That's a lot of jobs, and I sincerely hope that the bid is successful. Love.
  4. It's probably not that... I'm detecting a high level of arenis envy. Love.
  5. Nenshi is looking out for the city. Maybe the tax payers shouldn't bear the blunt exclusively, and costs should be spliff among would be developers, and potentially anyone that could be held responsible. Love.
  6. Just depends on when it fits with his Visine for the future. Love.
  7. Yeah, but they should have worked harder at it. It was doob or die. Love.
  8. I remember seeing that clip on TV! It's not really about Windsor losses, it's about being a pain in the neck without getting suspendered. Love.
  9. Surely it's knot their intention! Love.
  10. Totally. Remember how the previous provincial government was so eager to help in much more prosperous days? In case you forgot, I found the old thread. Here it is: One of the passionate posts from a previous regular/future GM says this: On a side note, something we can both be mad about. Most of us as Albertans know that we have by far the richest province and we have to pay billions of dollars in equalization payments to the other provinces each year. Our province decided not to help us fund new arenas. Fine but the Quebec is willing to give a large portion of the arena costs to the City of Quebec for a new arena. They are using the money we give them in equalization payments for a new arena. Now that p!sses me off. And this stranger says: This is Alberta,Canada. The economic engine of the new world.Calgary and Edmonton both deserve world class facilities for their teams.Actually, both these buildings should set a new standard for world class.Whatever it takes get it done. This nice guy stuff is getting old.We deserve the best.!! Additionally, I found this ten year chart of daily oil prices. It's not perfect, and I understand that, but it's pretty accurate to the ebbs and flows. Here you go: http://www.macrotrends.net/2516/wti-crude-oil-prices-10-year-daily-chart The thread that I cited above was started on August 14th, 2012. The price of oil was $95/barrel. The thread was killed on April 9th, and the price of oil was $93/barrel. I wonder what the hell that has to do with the NDP? When they came into power in April of 2015, the price of oil was less than $50/barrel, bottomed out less than a year later in February of 2016, and has slowly recovered back to where it was when they took office. I realize that things are really tough in Alberta right now, and I realize that a lot of people are rightfully pissed off. Furthermore, I didn't vote in the last provincial election in Alberta, and I wouldn't have voted NDP if I had, but politics aside, these comments are becoming difficult to read. You might as well blame it on the rain. Love.
  11. I'm not going to disagree with you, as such, but I wonder, what are the trades that they would have made at the time to accommodate your position? Love.
  12. I think we should go after Matt Murray. He'd be a really great fit for us. He's the right age, and the right caliber goaltender. If we can't get him for a third and a sixth next year, maybe we should look at Vasilevskiy. Love.
  13. I have nothing but contempt for any of you people! Love.
  14. Also, he's relatively handsome. So I have no problem with declaring him the next Lundqvist. Love.
  15. Joni'd to get him into a game Ortio before we really know what we have in this guy. Love.
  16. These jokes are getting Rittichulous. Love.
  17. A few years ago, it was pitched that we could move out all of our Sutters - five at the time, for all of the Stalls. I'm not sure what the market is for Burke, but I'm thinking we could get some MILFs, and maybe a conditional second. As tempting as that is, I figure we should hang onto him. Love.
  18. The trade for Dougie Hamilton, and then signing him to less than everyone believed possible... Signing Giordano to an extremely fair contract... Trading David Jones... It hasn't all been the best, but he's the first Flames GM that I've had any trust in since Fletcher. Personally, I'd say give the guy a chance to do his job. He'll get those deals done, and hopefully he can have a great off-season. Love.
  19. I mostly agree with what you're saying. All I'm saying is that new coach or not, there is some roster turnover that needs to happen before this team is a contender, and I suspect that most of that will happen at the end of next season. If they have a guy that they like, I definitely think that they should bring him in, but that we need to keep our expectations in check. Love.
  20. I really liked Bob, but I definitely understand why he was let go. What I don't understand, though, is how they'll do so much better next year without a lot of roster turnover - that I anticipate will not occur until the following season when a lot of contracts expire. The shortcomings of the player personnel have been discussed at length, but I still have a hard time understanding the timing of this decision. Love.
  21. It's true! JVR scraped his knee, and was deactivated. It was a joke in TO this year. Love.
  22. Yup, I think the only way that becomes a possibility is with expansion, and sadly, I think we need a goalie before that comes to fruition. I had sort of hoped that he'd get lit up by the Caps. Love.
  23. On TJ Brodie... Off-topic, but this is one of those points that applies to Jay Bouwmeester as well. I think he'd have made an excellent Flame if not for the system. And an aside: One day a few years ago I went to see the baby Flames play the Marlies. It was a terrible game, and our boys lost 5-0. Afterward, I was walking around in my Flames jersey, and as I was walking past some Flames fans coming in the other direction I casually mentioned, "Geez Louise! Future isn't looking so bright, is it?!" It was just an off hand comment that was supposed to be funny, and I thought that my tone was indicative of that. Anyway, it was TJ Brodie's mom. She wasn't shy about what she really thought about my remark. Then we had a few laughs. Really sweet people, and really proud as well. Love.
