  1. He had a good start to camp, then kinda disappeared. He's not even signed to a NHL contract yet as a Flames prospect. Not that it's a big deal, just a bit odd. Maybe it's a contract limit number game, but it seems like there is only 46/50 right now. I heard the connection to Zary, but really the Heat have enough players available.
  2. Although it's important for them to evaluate Francis, I would prefer he is playing a higher level role on a team, not a 3rd line or lower. He's had 2 shots in 4 games, so it might be time to pull the ripcord soon.
  3. Kylington had one of those shifts where he skated the length of the ice, went behind the net, and passed to nobody. Figured he would get popcorn'd after that. Last game he played more 5v5 than Hainifin, and pretty close to Tanev and Ras. Considering that Kylington is not making Tanev worse, I don't know how Sutter can get Zadorov back in a game. Likely, Valimaki sits against Jersey, just because of the B2B. Assuming of course Kylington doesn't crap the bed. I get that Coleman is a good defensive player, but shouldn't he get some PP time over Lucic? Personally, I would rather see Coleman in the top 6 than just a defensive player. Either that or It would be nice if we had another C to use in the top 6 at the very least. I don't know, maybe Monahan? Seems silly that we are using him 14 minutes a game with Lucic and hoping for a positive result.
  4. I think it's 2 from Mangiapane and Dube, where Mangiapane gets the goal on the PP and assists Dubes 5v5.
  5. Unless you feel like adding them, I suspect we have such a small readership these days that you might as well save the effort. I used to read them when I had more time, but not so much these days.
  6. Thanks RD. You can just copy and paste from last game and insert Markstrom there. Question about your poll: If I was going to guess 2, which 2 would I use? Hehe.
  7. Mangiapane managed a goal in game 3 and a PP goal in game 4. Other than that and Coleman's goal in game 2, all of the scoring from line 1. Balanced? Not really, unless you classify Ritchie as balancing anything. Or the need to take an offensive player and slow him down even more.
  8. He's a bit more mobile than Hanifin, so I wonder if you are right. Given that much space, he could fly. I would like to see him actually shoot more in games. The negative thing about Ras or Hanifin is that they get beat in a lot of foot races. Brodie used to be that defensive conscience in OT. Never got too far in the zone unless it was a 3 on 1; he was the trailer there too.
  9. I think it stems back to the Olympics. Soccer shootouts. Olympic hockey final. WJC final. Blech. Funny, last year we were better at SO than 3v3 OT. Before that we could only seem to win 3v3. Both are gimmicks and create some fan buzz, but I can really only stand the 3v3.
  10. So far, no changes to any lines or pairings except for the goalie. Marky gets the start today. Darth Vladar gets NJ tomorrow. Two wins in a row is nice, but I really wonder about Monahan with Lucic and Ritchie with Mange/Dube. Neither of those were good the last two games, except for maybe some moments for Mange/Dube.
  11. Not sure I agree with the tie part. The problem with the tie of old was that teams shut it down to get that 1 point. You make 0 for a loss in OT, and teams wouldn't want to take a shot, for fear of losing possession. Take the chance on the shootout. My hatred is the shootout, so if you made the OT longer, it would be better.
  12. Perhaps we just pound the Shesterkin out of the goalie. And Mangiapane can eat Panarin alive. Hard to believe ol' Reaves is playing in NY. Lucic and him can have a little meet and greet.
  13. It's shaping up to be one of those weird seasons. Cracking down on X-checking, but they supposedly cracked down on slashes. I mean they are calling a lot of hooks to the hands, but slashing and X-checking is much more likely to cause an injury. Maybe that's because nobody slashed McBaby. He certainly cross checks players himself.
  14. We loves us some 6th rounders or later: Mangiapane Phillips - too bad he can't get a gig in the NHL Wolf (7th) Kerins Beck Sergeev (7th) - good start in the USHL
  15. I think that would help separate the ones with loser points from the winners. MTL got a playoff spot due to them.
  16. Hey, all I was meaning was it's not a good idea to suject a player is not subject to injuries. I am superstitious. It's not like wearing a face shield protects you. 😉.
  17. I think the 9m works, it's just the 50% value in the last year. If you are doing 8 years, then 9 x 4, 8 x-2, 7 x 2 = 8.25m. They should offer Tkachuk and Gaudreau the same deals. Will be the last deal Tkachuk signs in CGY. Also, he gets no NTC at all. Gaudreau should get it in the final 4 years. Just my thoughts, as he has earned it over Tkachuk. And give him the choice to finish out his career if he so desires. I'm not really sure how durable he would be, but he's been in the leagie for a long time and appears to be immune. Bad choice of words, but he doesn't take the abuse other players do.
  18. A bit too much of a drop. He shouldn't sign for that
  19. What? Actually, I am impressed that we beat the Caps. When ws the last time that happened? 2017 by the looks of it. No Backstrom, which may have helped.
  20. I doubt he would wait to see what's out there. He seems pretty happy where he is. Give him a bit more firepower to win, and he would be happier. What is he worth? Highest scoring forward on the team and close to a point per game player? A bit more productive than Landeahog with less weapons to use. The rising cap will help mitigate the contract. More worried about Tkachuk wanting too much.
  21. Always a treat to beat the Oilers team. Pelletier is doing what I hoped he would do; raise his game to the competition. Wolf is good, great actually, so far. Werner is no slug wither, so it's interesting that we have two that can play in the AHL.
  22. Watched the 3 goals again, and it is what it is. Shorty was a poor bump back by Ras, left JH little time and space to make a decent play. Sneaky 5 hole shot by Kuz. 2nd goal was lazy play by Looch that opened up a ton of room for the rookie to shoot. Stick side, just above his pads far side. 3rd goal was Ovi, Ras gave him the space for a clean shot. Stick side. The 2nd was terrible. Stopped skating. Got like 4 shots for the period.
  23. We have way too many forwards on the Heat right now. ATO's up the ying yang. As it is we assigned a bunch to the ECHL. The coach needs to see the player play, so right now he's below guys that look good together. We shall see if he gets minutes. If not, just send him on his way.
  24. He was scored on by snipers.... But, they are stoppable, so he has to get used to skilled shots like that.
