I don't know that number of shots will be a key stat tonight. We get to face DeSmith, which is better than facing Jarry. Wonder how many times they show the hedgehog with his tie undone? Hard to believe Saturday will mark only our 2nd home game. Max 2 days off before the 5 game roadie. 1 day off before the home game. Critical stretch coming up. 1 game in PITTS. 5 game home stand. 7 game roadie with a B2B to start (MTL/TOR) and another to finish (NYI/BOS).

Like the new avatar you have. Flaming Bread. I really don't know what to say about Mangiapane's line. Dube is getting chances and helping keep the puck moving in the right direction. It still seems like Ritchie is a waste of real estate. He does good things, but I think he would be more useful in a 4th line role. Monahan is starting to look more himself, but he can't float Lucic and Lewis. That's a tall order. Whatever. The team is gelling. Have played some weak sisters, but we have looked good in every game regardless. Defensive pairs are relatively even for skill/skating. No real 3rd pair that struggles (no Ceci/Keith). Most of the top 6 performing at a top level. 3rd line is getting better and can create havoc. Goalies both keeping the team in it during lulls of play.

I will give them a pass for last night. Long trip and two games in a row. They came out strong in both cases. We may not always get effort from start to finish, but my it's nice to have a lead in the beginning and learn how to defend to a win. And that we don't fold with a goal scored against us. Vladar lost it when his mask came loose and he wasn't able to get the play stopped. He has to learn the Mike Smith greasy hair shake to get it off. That loss of focus resulted in another goal. What's also nice is that we have people on the same page. Not sure if Tkachuk is PO'd about minutes, but if so he is the only one. Everyone else is sucking it up. For offense, I would like to see it spread out a bit better. Not happy that we have Ritchie play in the top 6, and Tkachuk is yet to really bear down and contribute. One EN goal and a PP goal, plus one assist. Mangiapane and Lindholm are scoring almost all of the goals. And it seems like only Gaudreau and Dube are creating this offense. Early yet, but that has to change.

Finally, we get a team and a coach on the same page.

I'm not sure how abusers in hockey should be treated any different than any other place of employment. That's the very least of it. For that matter, coaches in organized sports should be held to a higher standard due to influence they can hold over athletes. Ask gymnasts about it. I'm sick and tired of hearing about these predators. They have ruined lives. They got away with it, especially in this case. Quit or we investigate? Hey, you still get to get your bonus and your ring.

Most NHL teams have close to a dozen or more. Only a select few have that little.

Not sure how the NHL determines it's schedules, but it sure seems like they gift one team over another. It looks like CGY plays 14 sets of B2B games, while the Oilers have 7 sets. How is that reasonable. I know every year the Oilers gets a gift of the least B2B games, but this isn't even close.
