  1. I really expected a 2:1 ratio for assists. I think if Ruzie plays more in the AHL, then his assists should go up. It's no slouch, just curious.
  2. I don't think we did bad overall this year in trades. Got Toffoli, who will be here for a few years. Got Jarnkrok who we can re-sign if the cost is right. I don't expect him to get any big raise, and that's assuming he fits. The big thing for me is we didn't go after Giroux, which is not a bad thing. Steep cost. Not much time to affect the team. I would have like Namestnikov, but whatevs. He's a UFA as well. Domi turned out to be a weird deal. As much as he could be an impact player, there's parts of his game I hate. The available D were all seeming to go for 2nd rounders. I wasn't hoping to get Braun, so that's good. Get the team signed this summer. Fix any problems with cap. Position us for next season. This season is all on the players and coach to make some noise.
  3. He either replaces Lewis or Dube, depending on what Sutter wants. BT seems to feel he plays the way the Flames play, so there may have been some discussion with Sutter. At the very least, we have another option to use in the PK.
  4. Fair, but do you really think Sutter takes Monahan out after playing 62 games? I almost think that he slots on the 4th line as a RW and take strong side draws for Monahan. Monahan and Lindholm are equal at 52.9% this season. I would leave Dube where he is right now, since he has looked good there? Gaudreau-Lindholm-Toffoli Tkachuk-Backlund-Dube Mangiapane-Jarmkrok-Coleman Lucic-Monahan-Carpenter Lewis, Ritchie
  5. Pelletier 2nd in rookie scoring. Just behind Maccelli, who was called up to the NHL by ARI (has 5 points in 9 NHL games).
  6. The other thing I will mention about the game is that this was one the Nucks needed to look good in. A win or OTL would have gone a long way in helping the GM decide if they were sellers or go for it. The only thing the Flames needed to do was get off the schnide and show that the SO loss to Buffalo was a one-off. It's good to beat the Nucks, but we have other teams to worry about this week. SJS and ARI/EDM B2B. A light schedule over the next two full weeks. Only 6 games and all at home. Lots of time for practice. The SJS game is a bit of a concern, though it's after TDL, so SJ might have less tools. EDM at the end of the week, but we are at home. Crush their spirit. They are a bit healthier, but only win if they outscore their problems.
  7. There really wasn't an opportunity to cheat or cover the puck. When we managed to touch the puck, it was given right back. The icing didn't help. I saw a lot of Lucic trying desperately to do stuff but he's slow on a good day. The only good thing was that it wasn't the entire 4th line and 3rd pairing out there. Even after the 3+ minutes on the ice, Guddy managed to lay the body setting up Toffoli for a perfect pass to Lindholm. Weather the storm and kill the spirit. There were several shifts where we owned the Nucks. Got changes and dominated. The lineup changes were to freshen things up, since Sutter thought the top guys were looking a bit stale. Not that it should stick, but it put people in places they have been in before, for the most part. Toffoli used to being on top PP unit, so there is chemistry there. Dube, Tkachuk and Backlund have played together and especially the latter two. Mange and Coleman. 4th line. The important thing was for the team to avenge the loss and to get back to scoring. Demko was the perfect test, since scoring on him wasn't just an easy shot. No garbage goals, but we didn't need to go there.
  8. Back to being 10 up on Soilers. They had their time in the sun with the win over T-bag and a tired WAS team. Now the real schedule kicks in for them. B2B against COL and DAL, then a lot of Pacific teams.
  9. We are the only team even close to having 4 with 30 goals or more. Some have more players with over 15, but we are crushing with 4 players
  10. I like the idea of trying out a few combos. It's like training camp to see what we have on the roster. What works, what doesn't.
  11. Singh couldnt resist talking about shutouts. EDIT - a real hockey guy doesn't ever say the word.
  12. No idea why they sat and watched Gaudreau take the shot. Most accurate shot on the team. He sees a hole, it's in that hole. Getting closer to 4 players with 30 or more. That is insane at this point in the season.
  13. One pass too many, but Gaudreau gets the last laugh. Goal number 28
  14. Well, the thing is that we were executing, just not finishing. If we had not gotten chances, then I would be more worried. Sutter actually enjoyed the game, and a 3v3 win is nothing you see in playoffs.
  15. It doesn;t mean that this should be the final lines, but I like the outcome so far.
  16. AHL update..... Heat clinch a playoff spot with a convincing win against COL farm team/ 10-3 Zarry, Phillips and Pelletier all have 2 goal nights. Ruzie played 😑 and got 2 assists.
  17. I like the way the team gives 110% with Vladar in nets. They take away all the stuff in close and let him focus on the shooter.
  18. It was weird, both Johnny and Toffee going in on their wrong wings. That's not a play Tkachuk has enough speed for. It's normally Johnny-Lindholm.
  19. And some of the plays that came closest to goals weren't even counted as shots. Coleman. Lindholm. Tkachuk. Two or three of those are tape in goals.
