Some media dude (Greg Burke) I have never heard of has said: 1) Isles signing JH to 11.5 x 7M 2) CGY finalizing Kadri at 6x8.5M So many fake tweets these days. Nobody else is mentioning this, so I tend to think he's blowing smoke.

This thread is questioning whether we should blow it up. It was a great idea when we thought there was a chance, but now we are at a point where it won't happen. If there is a signal (one ping, one ping only), then you know it's gonna happen. This is more of one player wanting out.

Yeah, I know. Value wise, I think Tkachuk is worth mopre than Kyrou. But I don't know if Tank + Kyrou is too steep. The other thing is that Tank is a pending UFA. Another crappy situation to be in unless you lock him up right away. Or you are ready to trade him 100% at the TDL. No more pending UFA's being kept until the off-season.

It's going to be a long summer. Won't know what the lineup will look like until September. Won't have RFA signed until August at latest. Not likely in on any big name out there, except perhaps Kadri. Without 13, it's hard to construct a meaningful lineup. Kadri represents a need for a #2C. Would use Mange and Toffoli maybe. Backlund plays with who, other than Coleman. Lots of 4th line players and a couple of kids that could come in. But if we landed Kadri, then Backlund makes less sense. We have some guys that could play 3 or 4C. Still need to replace Gaudreau in some way. Some undervalued playmaker? Top RW to move Tkachuk to LW?

With STL signing Thomas, but Kyrou remains not extended, does STL dangle him for Tkachuk? We would need to take another contract from them to make it work.

Guys like that are okay on teams like ANA. They get the minutes and improve over time. What surprises me is that we couldn't make a trade with him being sought after? What else is TDL for? Remember Derrek Grant? Scored 15 goals in ANA last year.

We won't be anywhere near Klingberg. We don't pay that much for D. If anything, we are all in on Kadri, miss our on some actually good players and then lose Kardi to someone else. To put it in perspective, we had a playoff team and lost the following: Gaudreau Yarnkrok (not gone yet) Guddy Zaddy Carpenter (blech) Ritchie Stone We face the possibility of Tkachuk walking us to FA. He is the top player on the team now and could easily sign for top money. Or he could be PO'd with the team and want to go. I would hope that he has already had the difficult conversations with Tkachuk and laid out the framework of a deal. Overall, we haven't fallen that far except for losing Gaudreau. I hate the idea of jumping on the top players, but the best players to replace the ones gone will go first.

I don't see him in the same value as Chiarot. I liked him in the playoffs, but a couple of blown plays ended our run. We will miss the size though. But not at 4.75M

Neither Guddy nor Zaddy are worth that to us. They had their strengths, but neither are that great an idea to have in 2nd pairing (money or position). If Chiarot is worth 4.75, Zaddy is worth no more than 3

Was there a specific need to sign Rooney this soon? The D is no big deal since you can always waive him. What type of team does Rooney make? Ruzie is better at putting the puck in the net.

This doesn't sound like the start of a rebuild. No kidding. It's the all-grit roster a coming. There are lots of players that didn't get qualified that are better than Rooney. I guess about the only thing we can expect if signing Kadri to 7 years.
