Several of the chances were from uncalled playes that turned over to the Kinks. I'm not liking the offensive play so far, though. Too many entries from the boards. Too easy to get squished. And dump and chase with zero speed is useless.

Most of the time was special teams Toffee a double minor during a 4 on 4. But anyway, dump and chase isn't a winning strategy. Lucic looked gassed on the shift the Kinks scored. Not sure who he was looking to take, but he chose nobody. The Lucic giveth and taketh.

The excuse that Lucic has been in on two goals in 2 games is a joke. He's not effective. He's luck that he faced a crappy goalie and that he passed it to a sniper. Against a crappy goalie. Expect him next impact to the game to be being slow getting back and out there for a goal against. We don't need him on the 4th line and the 2nd line would be okay with just the other 2 players.

Given that there is a B2B tonight/tomorrow, there's a good chance Phillips slots in. Of the two games, LA is the bigger risk since they are a playoff team. Ritchie is likely to get the hook soon. Hasn't been good. Not that Lucic has played his way into the top 6, but he and Lewis has been impacting the game. In a good way. It's a HUGE mistake to play Lucic in the top 6,especially for extended minutes. Sutter giving him some rope I guess.

I am always skeptical of posts that have links on it. I refuse to click on them. If you think it's a risky one, I will hide it. We don't want to have any hacks on this site. Not that the person is a hacker, just need to be careful.

A team that won the cup at some point went through a rebuild. Therefore, a rebuild means you win a cup. Was WAS in a rebuild or did they suck for a long time. Was Kucherov and Point a rebuild result or a good drafting. Binnington? Which was a rebuild MacKinnon or Rantanen or Landeskog or Byram?

I don't think there is anyone saying put him in a trade as a throwaway. You trade him for the value that he is, which is high value. He would do well on a lot of teams that are set up to make him soar. I'm not convinced we have that team. He has looked good so far with a couple of other players. Do we have the other players that allow him to shine?

I think the reality is we can't afford 6D all making $3M+ per season. Shutdown player like Backlund and Coleman 4.9 or over 5. Our top C paid less than everyone except Toffoli and Dube. We really couldn't afford Huberdeau's contract but couldn't afford to not sign him. We just have too many player making close to $5M without ELC's replacing them. The unfortunate thing is we aren't even seeing where they are in development now. I don't care that a player is a pro rookie or hasn't played in the NHL. They could be better than what we have in the bottom half or be an injury option. Did I see enough from Phillips to make a real judgement? Not even close. Do I know what every other player on the main roster is? Yup. Not to harp on Lucic, because I do like some of his games... But, what is the point of basing lineups on one game. He can change a game with a shift, but that works both ways. We don't need the bruiser/grinding lines every game.

What is Looch doing now? Comes out of the box, on for a bad Stone pinch 2 on 1 that almost kills us, then passes to an open Kadri. Any other D that would be picked off. Great play but very risky. Next stop top unit PP

We get it set up and the pass goes (again) in the slot but into the players feet. 2nd unit looks better.

2nd unit starts the PP and gets a chance very quickly. Top unit goes out after about 20 seconds and passes it around so much they don't even get a shot.

When the team was struggling to score, the press kept asking about the players. And Phillips. And goaltending. And the D. And lines and player status. Syiiter started getting bothered about this and got a little ignorant about it. All valid questions even if the dick was asking some of it. All guys like Francis do is regurgitate what the analysts say. Sutter either doesn't see it or hates being reminded of it. Play the hot hand sure, but stop waiting for a guy to go cold to put him in. Then you have two cold ones. That's only good at the bar. Or on a couch.

As good as Weegar is on LD, he's at a disadvantage trying to clear on the boards on the vackhand. He's been making that mistake too frequently
