  1. That's neat how you guys figure out the odds. It depends too on how many games those teams have against each other, as for poinrs distribution. I might be too lazy to work it out. Thanks for that travel, and robrob. I like Sutter's numbers, "We gotta win em all, whether it's 18,19,20 or whatever." Another point I like; Markstrom plays the best game of the year. That one glove save should be save of the week. That was the best game of the season. No playoffs? That game is as much satisfaction as any playoff game minus a Cup winner.
  2. AAAAAAARGH! Who can argue. We all saw the same stuff. It was frustration in motion... 'never quit' is a habit that you use in all situations. If you use it here and not there, it is no longer a good habit but rather merely something you use when you feel like it. All the good pro athletes have that ingrained in them, no reminders required, like a dog and a bus. It's easy to feel the weight of a long shot but better to have tenacious drive even into a looming defeat. I hope the team has that kind of discipline because there is no defeat even in loss.
  3. travel_dude, that doesn't sound like you. I never quit playing hard even if we were down by a more than insurmountable amount of goals. I kept pressing for the next goal. That's how I played, 'right through the buzzer'. Holding naive thoughts is not what it's about. Anything can happen, and it does๐Ÿ‘Š ๐Ÿ™‚
  4. 1 point from Minny is better than nothing. Markstrom played excellent. I hope he gets that overtime monkey off of his back sooner than later. I nearly threw the towel in too but that's how I feel for awhile after losing. I Hate Losing, always have.
  5. @travel_dude Agree. Give a flush of fresh blood. The plays are getting old. Nobody remembers how to score. Coleman had the only move on a goalie I can remember in a long time. That passing to the boards instead of shooting from the slot is getting old too. We want to see something different.
  6. 4th line with Walker is good. It's a complex job. Try some of them.
  7. This year though, still has 20 games left. Would be cool if they got hot into POs. I like that vision of yours. The UFAs could make room for the young guys.
  8. We only saw one guy with a move on the goalie tonight, Coleman, the guy who scored. Markstrom was not to blame tonight! That was frustrating to see Yarnkrok whistle in and force that puck in. He should have been laying on his backside. I'm not going to get frustrated cuz I am trying not to. Next game. SATURDAY AT 8
  9. That's true. Get a headstart on the spring camping. Maybe head north a bit; the coiler's fans will be busy in the playoffs. That is a defeatist attitude isn't it. ALL THE TEAM HAS TO DO IS REMEMBER HOW TO SCORE. It's not over till it's over.
  10. It's dealing with what you have that gets real results.
  11. Does shooting practice still sound stupid? Does practicing a move on the goalie sound stupid? Hopefully the players aren't hanging each other out to dry like the fans are knocking the team off at the knees? This looks like a case of the bad news bears. Turn it around gentlemen. It's as simple as that. No other choice.
  12. Ya. 1. They have forgotten how to score. The Post Kings. The one goal loss champs. It's hard to expand on all that. I have before but didn't generate much response. 2. There is a goaltending problem. Markstrom may be a good goalie but he isn't having success in Calgary. Markstrom's frustration is poisoning Vladar's attitude. Vladar had a pissy fit in practice apparently. What the fxxk? Play Vladar now. If he doesn't perform bring in Wolf or... You play well you get to play, just like everybody else.
  13. Sounds good. Can't wait. Maybe Markstrom wants to live and/or play elsewhere with his new wife. Nothing wrong with that. Flames hockey isn't working out for him these days. Why flog a dead horse?
  14. Major and minor stats are apples and oranges as we all know. Shut outs come and go, as we see with Markstrom this year to last. I agree it will be good to have a look at the young minders but that won't happen this year unless there are injuries. Looking forward to the game tomorrow night. Here's for the beginning of a winning spirit that equates to getting used to win after win. Free flowing effective familiarity.
  15. No, every tender in the league will have a number of testy games. The idea with me is Markstrom has lost his edge to win. Wins are so critical now, Vladar should be given the starts for a month or something. I agree that a bunch of those losses back there could have been wins if a goalie could have stepped up. Flames have for most games outshot the opponent 2, 3, and 4 to 1.
  16. Something must be happening in his life. I wonder if his wife has other plans or something, like what happened to Luongo. Why? A floundering goalie means a next year team, playoffs or not. Management is giving him every opportunity to get back on track.
  17. That's right. One game at a time but remember that team feeling when you become familiar with winning, and they just stack up in the win column. That will come. Lets hope they have broken out of the 'post' thing. Nice goals last game.
  18. No kidding. It's all about gambling now. Gretzky is probably into it above his ears. Remember Gretzky's wife and Rick Tocket were into some betting thing before it was all legalized. Legal betting leaves lots of room for illegitimate activities.
  19. Didn't see the beard. That would make him a Norman, as in the area in France, Normandy. They controlled England for a time; French was the official language for that time. What a great passer he is. Somebody has to play with him who really gets his style. Markstrom played fairly well last night. He was slow getting back up for that NY winning goal. Trouba needs a whacking. He seems to like to whack the smaller guys. Lucic should have tried to rush the net. 2 points would have been way better than one.
  20. Right on, good for you! I skated into a roundhouse punch one time. I had that guy's number ready for the next game against them. That team suspended him. I never had to follow through with pile driving his head. My plan was definitely pre-meditated but was defused; lucky for him, lucky for me too. I always played hard, nevermissedashift. I still love to play but have a torn rotator cuff. I've moved to the 40+ group by 26 years. Don't feel like pushing the fight much anymore ๐Ÿฅด I need the energy to skate. moral: don't lead with your head.
  21. I managed a team once. A player on another team was very skilled but he wouldn't pass the puck. He had that team discontented and bitxxing alot. When securing players for the next season I thought about aquiring him because I knew they didn't want him. He said he wouldn't leave them in a lurch because he was loyal. I didn't have the heart to tell him that they didn't want him anymore. Some time later he let me know he was available. He became a good player on our team because we worked the concept of pass pass pass. The moral of the story? Sometimes it's better to work with what you have.
  22. That is for sure. You often come up with ideas that I consider to contain logical forsight. We are fortunate to have 2 or 3 goalies with good potential. I will stop my whining, and appreciate the top side.
  23. I think this is a very credible observation summary... the truth with the details...
