  1. Marky has has some bad outings this season, but he looks to be improving steadily to where he was last year. GA is a function of team play as we know, the team has not always been there in front of him every game this season. I feel confident in either goalie right now, what more can we ask. I think we are looking real good in net right now.
  2. Thanks for bring forth the article. I certainly would have missed it. First bolded. As you mentioned, it is pure speculation. However, if TO did want him then that would mean he is one of the best out there, and I would concur with that. Second bolded. Treliving has autonomy (since Burke left), and he alone extended DS, why would he not after the season DS brought us last year. Third bolded. Never once have I heard DS and BT having issues. The owner has said “win now” so that is what the two are conspiring to do, that is why DS is here. BT is a communicator, I would suspect he and DS talk and plan for hours every day. Forth bolded. Pretty certain DS has no ambitions of being a GM again, that is 15 years behind him already, he has always said he is here for one reason only and that is to win now, as a head coach. If ownership ever gave BT the mandate for a total re-build, resulting in a decade of losing and poor gate receipts, there is no other GM I would want to lead us down such a painful path than BT. BT has always been a humble and modest guy, he puts everything Flames related first, he knows he comes last when talking extensions. I think he and his family loves CGY, his work speaks for itself, he will be here a long time so long as the ownership continues to appreciate him and compensates him fairly.
  3. That was painful to watch. Not sure how to sum this up other than maybe Johnny inviting the boys over last night and softened them up one way or another for the task at hand this evening. The PP was anemic and has been all season. When we gain the ozone on the PP we struggle just to control the puck on the outside perimeter, no creativity, no set plays, few quality shots generated on net, low probability at best, except for Stoner who at least will blast one from the point, and maybe score. Huberdeau wouldn’t take a shot on net if his life depended on it. Like the return on the MT trade but the Huberdeau extension is already looking like the Skinner extension and it hasn’t even kicked in yet. The fourth-line is not the issue here, dress whoever, just keep the puck out of your net, the problems right now is line 1 and the PP. I’m not putting this on goaltending, 2 breakaways, your 50% at best. Toss the last 3 minutes out the window, that's desperation hockey for teams who did things right for the first 57 min.
  4. This is not the same Lucic that was 2-3 years into a 6-year deal, this is a Lucic that is visiting barns around the league for the last time. I don’t think BT and DS make decisions based on player feeling, see Markstrom. If they think another player(s) gives them a better chance to win, I believe they will play that player instead.
  5. Tough night for ARI and particularly Valimaki last night, he looks to have driven straight over a spike belt, with 4 flat tires. No sense pumping these ones up. "BAY 6/7, 4 NEW TIRES ALL AROUND! And let’s have fun doing it".
  6. 17 consecutive years of not qualifying for the playoffs and we are finally getting to the point of watching fun hockey. With NJ displacing someone this year good chance it goes to 19 consecutive years. There is no one way to build a team but these two teams chose a direction and are sticking to it.
  7. I wish Valimaki all the best too. ARI dressed 7 dmen last night, Valimaki got the fewest minutes with no SH or PP time, looks like he is still a work in progress and fighting for ice time on one of the weaker teams in the league. I think the knock on him is that we doesn’t evade the big hit and he’s not the fastest, he might have a decent career if he can avoid sick bay.
  8. Valimaki was coddled here for 4 years and was unable to crack the top 7. If your tire continues to leak air after 4 years, its best to replace it. How long did it take good young dmen like Makar or Fox to grab the reins of opportunity? Maybe somebody here has the time to look back at all the Suter teams and tally/ list the countless young players that succeeded under his wing.
  9. That was awesome watching Sean Monahan come back to the Dome. Was hoping he would've scored a hatty, and he had chances to do it. The fans gave him the appreciation that was well deserved. Can't help but think MTL was a benefactor of our demise, he looked like a natural in a Habs jersey. We give a 1st rd pick to MTL to take our captain for one year minimum..... he was never officially given our captaincy, but he was our captain. I get the reason why BT did the trade or lack thereof, but.... At worst or best, MTL keeps SM long term at a cap friendly salary to be a 1st or 2nd line center, maybe they flip him for another 1st come TDL, but what a terrific hockey move by MTL. All the best to SM, can't wait to watch him raise a Cup somewhere down the road.
  10. Johnny, Johnny, Johnny, Little Johnny. Look at what you left on the table, we WERE your family. Hope that cannon in Ohio treats you well and you can start new family. The burning ring of fire has moved on. Welcome HUBY!
  11. Hub's seems fascinated with the number 10 atm.... x it by 7 or 8 yrs and we could see him stick around for some time.
  12. NHL Scout’s Analysis: Why Cole Schwindt could be the wild card in Flames-Panthers trade (msn.com)
  13. I think MT is captain material, but does he want to be here? Same questions we had with JHG. I see MT in more of a supporting role (aka Ladeskog), we are missing the McKinnon, Rantanin, Makar types. MT may want a number bigger than JHG just got long term. Is he worth it? Are we going to invest those $$'s in poor skating MT hoping to beat the team up north?
  14. Tkachuk signs long term at a $ BT likes or he is gone this summer.
  15. LOL, are you judge and jury? Johnny had no intentions on re-signing, he used the Flames to the final minute in an attempt to find his market value then dodged to Timbuktu. If it was not about the $$ then why lead the Flames down the path, just say you are testing FA 7 weeks ago and let teams get on with their business, it probably would have ended much better for him. Instead he declares no contract talks during season, then screws the Flames for 7 weeks, only to decide on CBJ in 12 hrs? He played by said rules but it was not genuine to a team that gave him everything.
  16. I agree, it was going to be too much $$ for far to long...........and it's sad to see him go today, hurts either way. Flames still have JHG's $80M in their pocket ready to invest when the time is right. We missed our window (JHG, Monahan, Bennet), we were hopeful to win with these players but we failed. If the organization chooses a total tear down/ rebuild I'd be okay with that because I'm not seeing the replacement players presently in our org.
  17. Tick, tock, tick, tock….eerie silence. Just a normal day at school and the teacher asked little Johnny, what’s two plus two? Little Johnny opened his hand and counted 1,2,3,4 and said – 4 teacher?!. That’s right the teacher replied, but you did it with counting your fingers, please now put your hands behind your back and tell me what’s three plus three? Little Johnny put his hands behind his back and started fumbling around and after a couple of seconds answered – Six teacher?! That’s right Johnny, but you still counted your fingers behind your back, let’s try this again, but this time put your hands in your pockets and tell me what’s five plus five? Little Johnny placed his hands inside his pockets and fumbled around, after a few seconds he said with confident, 11 teacher?! LOL
  18. LOL, what, both MT and JHG in NJ??? Right now BT has both.....still.
  19. Little John is gone. The 8th year Flames can offer is way over blown. He’s getting $80M regardless where he plays, and when the number is that big he can leave a mil or two on the table, he just needs to decide if he wants to work 7 or 8 years, most here would take the 7-year option and choice of geography. The Flames are a class organization, they treat their players right, but stupid $$ will be tossed around in a few days and little John has been very patient to see it.
  20. Not sure how we got away from our 9 GF/game against these Coilers but tonight would be a good time to get back to it as we know we can. Smith is a pretender, lots of shots on this red neck hillbilly, dump the puck in behind him and make him play it cause we know he can't resist, then wait for the mistakes. Looking forward to seeing Koskinen at some point too. Big game from Lucic and a few others tonight. Lets put another nail in their coffin. GFG!
  21. Can't believe I've waited 31 yrs for this playoff rematch. Pretty sure there were no personal cell phones, computers, email, message boards or internet back then. There may have been computers but they were in there infancy and not capable of the things which they are used for today. The Calgary Sun Newspaper is where you went to read pages and pages of hockey write-ups the morning after each playoff game. Time does not heal all wounds, as I dislike that Coiler team just as much now as I did back then. Lets take game 1 and put the first nail in their coffin. GFG!
  22. Lets score first, score often, and put it in the win column! GFG!
