  1. That would be a decent tandem. Is our 2nd rounder too high in that trade? Or even for the Fleury deal? The 6th overall has got to be posturing. But at the same time I don't see the Pens giving Fleury up for little, regardless of what I think of Fleury, and want nothing a part of.
  2. I just don't see Reimer costing much due to it being the worst time to go UFA as a goalie. I agree though, I said in the previous post that that doesn't fix things, but it gives Ortio more games, which we all know he needs to perform... We also know Reimer has a history of being pretty good in short bursts as well. But that creates a goaltending two-headed monster.
  3. The thing is, all I hear on radio shows is how Calgary have options. I say no and take my chances with Reimer... If that's the price... If Schneider was worth 9th or 10th overall, who has more worth? He or Fleury?
  4. If Vasilevsky isn't a starter, it could be good for Ortio. They can get half games each, but I get that that is not a good plan going in. What about getting Vasilevsky and Reimer?
  5. The Flames also have the pick of any team looking to get rid of a goalie. There aren't many other teams looking for one right now and if Calgary trades the 6th, then Fire Treliving because that's just as bad as Feaster deals.
  6. The only thing I don't like about it is his NHL experience doesn't quite warrant it, and I know that was going to happen, but it doesn't mean I gotta like it.
  7. It sounds like 5.5M/ye. I really feel like that's so much for how little experience he has. Around 125 games isn't very many for that high pay.
  8. A lot of posters on here also point to Osgood, Crawford, Niemi as bad goalies who won the cup as well. Sure it is a good feat, but like Deeds said, 60+ games plus the playoffs is an entirely different beast. How many games did Anderson play? I don't think he played many and I was quite surprised!
  9. I think this is the year they test it out and maybe make a TDL move to address it.
  10. Will Demko be ready? I think Van is going to use Markstrom and get him more time, split with Miller this year, then maybe Markstrom takes over until Demko is ready. They're going to let Miller walk and then use Markstrom until Demko is ready to go.
  11. But that sounds like he is a player who understands his value. Honestly, it probably could be his last contract and with his injuries that's Guarenteed cash for two more years and almost a back-up salary.
  12. Yesterday, Ray Ferraro thought the flames give up a roster player/prospect and our 2nd for Fleury. He said a high pick but then meant that we use the 2nd. Would any of us give up the 2nds that are not ours? He was saying that those picks become high currency when they have 0 in the first two rounds.
  13. I am now open to anyone who makes us better. A Goalie makes the team comfortable, possible to make some mistakes without being afraid to. Then players tend to make less mistakes when they're not afraid to.
  14. Could we do Raymond or Colborne and a 2nd for Fleury? The pens don't have a pick in the first two rounds. One of those guys save the Pens around 3m in cap space and they get a 2nd. Do we need to throw in a Worherspoon? Colborne can play any position. He could be the next to play with Crosby as he has size and possibly gets how to play in the NHL now. Going to the net = goal.
  15. I think that's it, we will see if it translates. There was a lot talked about games that matter more and how much harder they are to win in the clutch of a playoff push. The pressures are different and in the last 15 games or so, we could've played better because the games weren't as intense, like the argument of players getting points when it doesn't matter. That could've put us a few more points higher and making it seem we were only 10points out of a spot. Ideally, it translates and we are in the thick of a push until the end next year. I hope we get a coach that pushes puck movement and possession. The way Pittsburgh won is how I want to see our teams for years to come. Get the puck out, push it up ice, attack and cycle. A Good offense is a better defense. That still doesn't mean giving up A1 chances.
  16. This is what I am saying... But I do agree we need better goaltending. I am not saying don't get a better goalie. I was in Ramo's camp until it became evident he wasn't going to fix cheating off the post. Ortio was very low on my list but has changed my mind a very little bit and if he is dialled in he can perform decently. Is that a goalie coaching thing keeping the goalie ready regardless of how many starts, or is that an on him thing? Mostly him of course... I think they have some tools... But I just don't know who is going to do well under our current team because we are prone to giving up high scoring chances. Once we fix that, the goaltending will get better too. BUT! Both need fixing.
  17. I think it is a team game and to suggest otherwise doesn't make sense. A team's D would effect a goalies' performance and vice versa. Goalies can give players confidence. I think anyone suggesting we were only 5 wins out and that scoring chances are a small differential between all teams are looking at things with rose coloured glasses. Our team gets hemmed in so much, give up a lot of high end scoring chances. Ok, so you say it's only a few more. But high end scoring chances have extreme likelihood of scoring. You give up as many as we do then a good to great goalie can only do so much. We have good pieces. Hopefully it is just a coaching philosophy. The way we played the year we went to the playoffs was not sustainable and it was proven last year. We had the 5th worst record and a better goalie would still have gotten us to just outside the playoffs looking in. Instead of Drafting 5th (6th) we would have been in the 10th to 13th range. Ok, that's an improvement and where I think we will draft next year with a better goalie unless there is more roster change or a prospect steps up.
  18. But we've seen that two years in a row and so far we have the same bodies returning. Albeit, they're going to be a year older. Was it the system that garnered our horrible possession #s or both? I think both? Right now I don't see it changing. We are small and easy to play against.
  19. Are you boardinging serious? He won the cup on a team that boasted Crosby and Malkin, PLAYING ON THE boardingING 3RD LINE. On the 3rd line he's not getting the same caliber checkers. You're an idiot...
  20. I get the goaltending was bad, it truly was. But so was our Defense! Leaving your goalie out to dry so often isn't going to make the new goalie's life easy. Our goaltending numbers may improve a bit, but the team play isn't getting us into the playoffs.
  21. I understand it is all logical. But Crosby may want Fleury there, if he has any say. We know players don't have a say, but that's not always true when it comes to franchise players. I am just looking at things the other way. I am not a MAF fan. I hope we don't get him. I don't like him in games that matter. But those quoting his numbers in these playoff games have to remember he just came off injury which gave Murray the chance to play. So he was cold.
  22. I agree, but it's just that we can't assume that's the route they will take. Murray played well, yes, but it is still a low number of games to grade him on. He did good, yes, but I wonder if they would wait and see if other teams figure Murray out. Is it possible Murray has weaknesses that get exposed when he plays more?
  23. What if Pitt still wants MAF? Are they fully sold on Murray? They went with Murray because Fleury was cold and Murray was in a groove. They didn't necessarily go with Murray because he was the choice.
  24. Apparently Ortio takes/needs a bunch of games to get going. Having Reimer and Ortio would put us back to a goalie tandem splitting games. Would that work. Even though Ortio didn't get wins he gave the team a chance in some of the games. I like Reimer more than some,,but I think that has to do with how Carlyle talked about him in media than in his play. I tend to like the underdog and Carlyle, well I am not a fan of his belittle tactics in the media... I thought Reimer showed potential. He seems to have less stamina so a platoon could be what works for him. If we want Elliotte, maybe we have to wait for UFA. What has kept Elliotte consistent is that he always has to prove himself. He could be looking for a new opportunity to prove he can be a starter if the Blues continue to place their chips in Allen's hand.
  25. But he hadn't given the pens a chance to win a round in most of his playoffs with the Pens. Last year was better than most years. I won't get into his start this year because it was coming off a long break so he gets a pass on that one. I say if our goal is to make the playoffs and get a decent regular season from him I will be ok, but don't expect him to perform better than Ramo in the playoffs. Gotta also point out that the Pens are not and have not been the Flames. It's comparing apples to oranges. Malkin, Crosby, Kunitz, letang, and others to who? Iginla, then a rebuild and now a youth core who got us in on luck that the other teams took a year off.
