  1. And has been awesome the last 2 games
  2. GO FLAMES GO!!!!! That is all.

  3. It's a high ankle sprain. These things take time especially for a goalie. Tough break for the Addy Flames, this really hurts their playoff chances.
  4. Wasn't the damage to the Saddledome covered by insurance? I don't think there was a big reinvestment of money to offset the damage. Regardless, the Flames need a new home.
  5. This would be ideal. What a wonderful concept. This needs to get done now!
  6. I hope you're not recommending that we consider trading Bennett. He's a blue chip prospect that we haven't really seen do anything yet. There's no way Bennett is in the discussion for any trade.
  7. That last part I wrote about him getting bigger was said with tongue in cheek. Perhaps it wasn't conveyed that way. As for him playing big minutes, he's already doing that and he's a +9 this season. He quietly goes about his business and has very few glaring errors. His defensive game has only gotten better as the season has progressed and he leads the league in blocked shots. What more could you ask for?
  8. I find it funny how Russell is kind of forgotten or dismissed when talking about our D. I think our top 4 is one of the best in the league. Russell may not be putting up the numbers but I dare say he's one of the best defensive players we have. If only he were 7 inches taller and 40 lbs heavier and played the way he plays currently.
  9. What do you think it would take to land Franson via trade. 2nd rounder and a higher end prospect like a Wotherspoon? I would think they'd be looking for D as they will probably try to unload Phaneuf as well.
  10. I didn't realize he could be had for so little.
  11. I like Franson as well. I would rather take my chances with getting him in the off season rather than trade any pieces Toronto would want in exchange. Unless the Leafs owners, President and GM have gone totally coo-coo they're going to be asking a lot....and that will basically leave the Flames trying to sign him before he hits the market. Obviously if he doesn't sign a contract we lose. So for that reason alone I'd rather try to land him as a UFA.
  12. Well I just quit playing World of Warcraft. Any former players willing to give advice in my retirement. Like how do you get past the tremors lol.

I'm down to 1 MMO now! I still play DDO a little since I get to work from home 2 days a week :).

  13. And what happens if he goes cold? Yoyo'ing him back and forth from the farm to Calgary is not in the best interests of Ortio's development. He needs to play games and being in the A means he gets starts. Plus, as I said, if the Flames are looking to move a goalie to make room for Ortio having an asset in the press box doesn't do you any good.
  14. The only way I see Ortio getting recalled is if there's another goalie injury or a trade is made. It just doesn't make sense to carry 3 goalies especially if you're trying to shop one. Ortio would be riding the pine or sitting in the press box if this were the case. It's better for him to be getting the starts in Addy and trying to push for the playoffs with them.
  15. Sounds funny coming from you JJ, being the Ortio fan that you are. And I agree anything is possible now. The Find-A-Way Flames do it again.
  16. I don't know. I thought he looked pretty good despite a stretch early in the 2nd where the Sharks were flying. He made a beautiful save to keep the game tied at 3 off of the Marleau breakaway late in the third. He still looks very composed in net and is very fluid. He's a gamer for sure. It's a forgone conclusion he has to go back to Addy as you have said but all in all I think he's been very impressive. He makes the jump by year's end at the earliest but if not he's on the team next season in my opinion. Me too
  17. +1 but I would consider Ortio an "untouchable" and therefore I wouldn't offer him up in a trade. Hiller and Ramo, in my opinion, are not with this team 2 years from now so you move them for sure. Neither will get you a top tier D man like Ortio might, but then we shouldn't be trading a goalie for a D to begin with. You build from the crease out and we have plenty of options for moving forwards or picks to find a D man.
  18. I like to think that when opposing players hit goal posts its only because the goalie had everything else covered Its just good positioning
  19. No thanks. Whether you choose to believe the media on Kessel or not the simple fact is that he is a floater. I've watched enough games to see this is evidently clear. No doubt he is talented and its scary to think what he could do if he put in the effort game in and game out but he doesn't.
  20. That's the stuff movies are made of. Way to go Canada!!!

  21. So ROR wants 1 year at 6.75 million from the Av's. Wonder what will happen. What I'd like to see is the Av's walk away from whatever the arbiter awards, Ryan goes to UFA and the Flames scoop him up for 3 years at 5.5. Ah to dream! ;)

  22. It all goes back to the way the Flames want to do this rebuild.....from the crease out. In my opinion the goalie position is set for the foreseeable future. Now its time to work on D.
  23. The other factor in all this is the state of our D corps. We're good but not great. Save percentages are directly linked to how well your team plays in front of you. Our forwards got the message last season and great strides were made. Now we need to focus on D. The Flames are still looking for a true shutdown D man and a solid 3-4 guy. As for Ramo, I'm still bemoaning the fact that BB came out and publicly stated that Ramo was going to be our number 1. That said however, Ramo did perform well in the second half of the season once he began getting the starts. I think the whole Berra thing really got Ramo off his game. As for a backup this coming season I would still like to see Montoya as the guy.
  24. Would love to see Hiller come to Calgary however its a double edged sword. Yes, we could be in the running for Hiller but would he take a back up role when he could easily be a starter on just about any other team? And Ramo, how does he handle it? Hiller, as the back up, will cost you close to double if not more than what you're paying Ramo. Does it push Ramo or does it totally blow his confidence? In my opinion the first blunder Burke made was when he stated that Ramo would be coming back this upcoming season as the number 1. If I were him I would be regretting saying that. Especially seeing the talent that is going to free agency and what the cap will be. A statement like that is pretty hard to take back. And let's face it, everyone knew well in advance that Hiller would probably be hitting the FA market. I would hate to see a goalie controversy disrupting all that the Flames worked so hard to build this past season as far as comradery and team cohesiveness goes.
