  1. There's no reason why Ramo shouldn't get the next game. No reason at all.
  2. JMac had a great game. I will freely admit that. Should he have gotten the start? I still say no. Ramo was signed to be the starter even though management would probably deny it. This is supposed to be a rebuild and a time to see what you have as a team. JMac is a known commodity, Ramo really isn't. JMac will probably be gone by the trade deadline (my prediction), Ramo was signed to a 2 yr contract. My worry is this is going to shake Ramo's confidence and his play will suffer. I think now Hartley has no choice but to go with the hot hand next game which is unfortunate for Ramo. Don't get me wrong, I'm loving the wins and points they're getting but I think the wrong goalie was played tonight.
  3. So MacDonald is getting the start against the Habs on Wednesday. I would have thought Hartley would have gone back with Ramo to get him some starts. What does this say about our goaltending? Has Ramo been struggling in practices? Kind of makes you wonder because MacDonald hasn't been that sharp either.
  4. Time to step up your game boys!! Show them canuckleheads that this team is not to be taken lightly!!

  5. Being only the second game of the season we have to give the goalies a little time to get in the groove of things so to speak. I thought JMac played alright but like Ramo last night he got out of position a few times and looked shaky. I think we have to wait and see what we've got before we start panicking about our goalie situation.
  6. I wasn't impressed with Ramo's lateral movement. He was scrambling at times and got out of position. All in all though it was a good effort. Can't fault him for 2 of the goals as 1 was a nasty deflection off Hudler and the other was a vicious one timer from arguably the best player in the game. I agree with those saying he needs some games under his belt to get a real idea where we're at with our goaltending.
  7. I think this is the case. Ramo is going to get his shot at being the number 1 and Mac is going to be the backup. Berra needs the time to develop his game and get accustomed to the NHL game. If you see either Ramo or Mac struggle then Berra will be given a chance but I suspect Ramo to be afforded every chance to be the one who carries this team.
  8. Agreed. As with the on ice product the need to get new blood into the stands is apparent as well. I remember when the Dome used to rock and was one of the loudest buildings in the NHL. Time for Mr King to weave some of his marketing magic.
  9. I said it before and I'll say it again Berra should go to the Heat. If he can refine his game he potentially has a good career ahead of him. Ramo in my opinion has been the best of the three. I like his attitude and work ethic and seems to know what is expected of him. He deserves to be the starter.
  10. Let the battles commence!! I'm most interested in our crease situation this year and who will be the one who takes the reigns.

I'm interested to see what Ramo brings.

I also hope that Berra is able to steal the backup spot from JoMac

  11. I'd like to see Berra on the Heat next year. Let him get used to playing on the smaller ice along with seeing how much faster the game is at this level. He's going to have to deal with players battling for space in front of him too. If the kid is really committed to the NHL as he says he is, a year in Abby will do him good. I don't think we'll see Kipper back, but that's just my guess. I would be happy this season with a tandem of Ramo and MacDonald though its not the most ideal situation. MacDonald should help mentor Ramo and come in to bail him out should he have a rough start. Our depth at the G position is in excellent shape....chaotic.....but an excellent problem to have. Have we seen the last of the Irving experiment?
  12. I don't want to see the Flames overpay for a player during FA. Stay the course is my mantra for this season.

So we should ignore UFAs. Early on the good 1s get overpaid but later the dregs can be had for little.

Considering the team as it is that's a sure fire ticket to picking top 5.

I'm not saying don't sign FA's, I'm saying don't overpay for them like we have in the past. I would be fine adding someone like Grabovski or Bozak if the price is right.

  13. Its just a bitter pill to swallow to think that its all about the money. I would think he would want to prove himself first before demanding high dollars when you don't really knowing what you're getting. If he has a stellar year or two than he's in a position to hold the hammer, right now he's an unknown commodity in my opinion.
  14. Unfortunately that's all we have to go on. The game across the pond is a lot different than in the NHL. The angles are different, there's not much crowding in the crease and so on. I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt but in my estimation he has a lot to prove and paying him more than 2m per year on a multi-year contract is way too big of a risk. All I can say is there better not be an NTC or NMC.
  15. Yes in total agreement with this. Let's remember Ramo's last stint in the NHL, it wasn't pretty. Anything more than 2m per and I will be calling for Feaster's head and I'm one of his supporters right now. As it stands I'm more excited about Berra than Ramo just because of his past history. Its going to be an interesting training camp and pre-season between the pipes to say the least.
  16. Thanks to the mods, admins and tech geeks who have rid us of the plague of spam. Good job folks.

  17. I agree Joey MacDonald has to be re-signed. I like what I have seen with him and in my opinion has looked much better than Kipper. Its been so long since we've had a capable back up. My only fear is that now we have this capable back up we are going to have a glut of starting goalies. I'm not convinced Ramo can come in and take the starters role.
