  1. Oh you so made my girl laugh when I said, "hey look, it's you"! I've now sent it to her so she can share it with her friends and they're calling me an idiot. lol Of course now, it'll be her favourite line and I'm good with that. lol
  2. You'll notice the reports are all from this year, but not necessarily current. I think they mainly re-did their list and kept reports attached from earlier. Plus, these reports are general summaries, or snippets. They scout for various hockey associations as a business. Like every other org, they aren't NHL scouts. Young guys aiming to be, no doubt. They're a fairly visible group in the scouting world, though. I typically say my hellos at midget tourneys, USNDTP games or occasional Sting games. I believe what they're saying is the fwds are a decent group, so they needed to bump some dmen down. Greentree at 6 might be close. He's the one player that I feel whose team has really dragged him down. Windsor was a god awful team. Hate to imagine his numbers if they had a couple of good forwards to at least alleviate him having to do everything. The write-up is pretty accurate, but he was forced to have to do everything, pretty much alone.
  3. I'm a bit bias for these guys because I know a few of their scouts from different rinks. First thing that you'll notice is that they don't follow party lines. They're a good group of guys though and do a fair amount of midget scouting also. So a lot of players aren't new to them. https://smahtscouting.com/2024/04/07/spring-2024-nhl-draft-rankings-1/
  4. Yes, and probably. Ideally, with our 2nd, 41st oa. I really like Cole Beaudoin's rugged game and wonder if him or Sam O'Reilly can survive until our Dallas pick or 3rd rd. Both sizeable Cs that run on hard work.
  5. I was so hoping TBay would give FLA a run. More hope than reality. lol Oh well, I've always like Barkov and Lomberg. It's just the rest that offsets that.
  6. It's been my pleasure to have not watched the panel as of yet. I'm fine with watching Messier and Subban carry on. I like Bieksa's takes, but not enough to listen to the rest of them. Unfortunately with Toronto, it goes way beyond game time and dominates the news in general. The obsession is real. We always have traffic here like Grand Central. lol My Leaf fans friends and family are over-the-top emotionally invested. The rest of us have taken to defend whichever of their players they are attacking. Usually Marner. They really clutch their media pearls that they're the Leafs, and every other team is playing Bantam-level hockey. I wish I was kidding. The respect level for their opponents is virtually zero. Wind bag O'Neil was saying that it doesn't matter what D pairings are on the ice, Matthews will destroy them. Their fans literally buy in to all of that airhead media crap. It's a spectacle how they'll recite total bs like it's true. No team could possibly live up to the Satoshi Nakamoto that their media feeds the fans. 1 win = we're back for real baby. 1 loss = these guys are a nightmare. There is zero balance. I like to point out the Wings. "You see how heart-breaking just missing the playoffs was? Are you hearing our media pissing and moaning and blaming everyone? Of course you don't, because we don't act like children having a meltdown". Just get rid of the Leafs already, go cry in the corner, we're sick of listening to you. Go fire and trade everyone.
  7. Spare me. lol Toronto sports is the absolute worst. After they won, it was, "if Marner gets going, the Bruins are in a world of trouble". What they are actually doing, is setting the stage to blame Marner. He's playing through a high ankle sprain, they know that, too, but won't acknowledge it. Same thing every year. He's always the guy that they want to trade because he's always the red-headed stepchild. I really wish they would trade him. Then see if everything was his fault. This coming from someone that isn't exactly a Marner fan. Ex-Knights and I are like oil and water for the most part. The sooner Toronto is gone, the sooner SNET and CBC will do a better job covering other teams. onhockey has been fantastic. Use "ublock Origin" adblocker. Your internet provider only has to be 60Mb/s, which is pretty low. I have internet TV and just use an internet browser app. Mind-numbingly simple. I have 3 TVs in my barroom. Looking forward to moving everything outside on the deck though. Hopefully by round 2. A smoker and 2 bbq's are right there. lol The SNET app and NHL subscription sucked the life out of me with Satoshi Nakamototy service long ago.
  8. Canada's lines: Martone-McQueen-McKenna Elick-Schaeffer Ritchie-Luchanko-Iginla Mews-Marrelli Masse-Josephson-Greentree Brunicke-Aitcheson Wetsch-Beaudoin-Spence Gill G - Carter George I believe Vanacker took Greentree's spot, not sure though. That 1st line are the '25 draft stars. Cayden Lindstrom was supposed to be on the team, but injured.
  9. No. Somewhat unbelievably. Not exactly a common name. edit... I asked google. Allegedly they're "distant relatives", but no one knows how. lol Both from Sundsvall. Population about 60,000. How could they not be?
  10. Brunicke might want to forget this game and move along... McQueen likely staring down a kneeing suspension. Too bad, he's looked good. The '25 draft eligible guys look great for Canada. Wallenius, Petterson and Zetterberg have been solid for Sweden. Tight game, currently 5-3 Canada, end of the 2nd. Eiserman now 6 goals from tying Caulfield's goal-scoring record after his hatty. I think he had 74 shot attempts. lol
  11. For entertainment purposes only. lol It's so Blockchaining dumb we're left to only laugh, once the shock of the level of stupidity wears off. "Do your own research", lol. "Rather than, you know, me revealing my sources and causing myself massive embarrassment". My fave response is, "show me your library card, or we're not talking about this". Yes. I know some. uggh The Satoshi Nakamoto they recite is head-shaking.
  12. I remember looking into this with others quite some time ago. I was quite shocked to see studies. Imo, it can be improved by optometrists focusing on what you want to accomplish, how to train your eyes type-thing. But it still comes down to how quickly you can process, or more generally, hockey IQ. Then your teammates kinda feed off of what you're doing. I was quite taken aback at how no stone gets left unturned in studies, though. https://www.ovpjournal.org/uploads/2/3/8/9/23898265/3-2-5.pdf
  13. /s = sarcasm So, to review, /s means sarcasm. e.g. "I don't mind if it takes 10 years". Sarcastic response: "That sounds like an awesome plan, we're only the careers of our current prospects away!!".
  14. Oh gawd, here we go... I clearly indicated sarcasm. Tell me about real fans, in case I missed that nonsense awhile back. I live in Ontario. We have overseas fans. I'm sure we need to be divisive on what a fan is again. /s
  15. I get what you're saying, but you've got to do better than that. He has history in the league that's more worth than a fifth. We shouldn't be having to give him away. Losing trades, just because, shouldn't be on the agenda. Some form of decent prospect and a 5th. But just a 5th? That's horrible asset mgmt. Develop players, give them away. It haunts us a bit.
  16. Nope. We shouldn't. 35 in a contract year, everything else a struggle to 20. Go figure. Hate to inflate size, but someone who can handle playing like he does. To be more punisher than punishee. I do like Mangiapane, he plays an honest hard-working game. His size defies him quite a bit, and he overcomes that as well as he can. I agree with you, and not just Backlund. Mangiapane gets open in the high slot quite a bit. He rarely gets the puck, though. He floats just above the dmen and gets to that sweetspot area between the fwds and dmen. He's good at it. He rarely gets the puck though. 20% on a good day, maybe? Unless it's a contract year, apparently. What I mean is, I don't mind Mangiapane at all. He's just too small for bottom 6. He's not quite skilled enough to be an impact player on Line 2. He probably could, riding with a good pair. Like he does with Backlund and Coleman. But he needed a better pairing than Kadri-Dube. He's the ride-along. If I were, say Chicago, and we could do my 4th best prospect and a 4th, we might have a deal. Mangiapane's a good NHLer, we just don't have the parts to accommodate his secondary role, imho.
  17. Put your hats on, she's U18 time starting tomorrow. Sorry most of you lot have terrible start times, but so do our overseas Flames friends throughout the NHL season. There are a lot of players to track. I'm intrigued to see guys like Beaudoin, Elick, Pettersson, Ritchie, Brunicke, of course Tij and many others (hi Norway). It's just one, quick tourney, so I don't really get my panties in a bunch one way or the other. Just a nice opportunity to see them all in one place. I've managed, "work from home" mode for mornings. Cool beans.
  18. Are you actually a Flames fan? /s
  19. That was more than a suggestion!! You manipulated everything with these machines we type on. We have to get rid of these machines. And the whole time you and your lefty-smoking cronies and the mainstream media were feeding us fake news. Players didn't want to leave. You communists forced them out. Well I'm going to Make Southern Alberta Great Again. MSAGA, mmmkay.🤪
  20. Their turnaround time on retrievals and turnovers is unreal to watch. That's gotta leave defenders breathless. Clear your zone and the next wave is coming, not now...RIGHT now. Gotta constantly stand on your toes and forget that you have heels. I'm hoping Bowness can strategize their way through the Avs. Tough ask. Is Makar still improving at 25? lol I'm not shy to say that we're witnessing the best NHL dman ever.
  21. Spectacular goaltending. Both games have been great. TBay needs to start games on time. Both games now, they need 10 mins of warm-ups. Started OT the same way. Like, ummmm, guys, get moving...
  22. Vegas upgrade to next year's 2nd from this year's 3rd if they win a rd. So basically trading 2, likely 85-95ish, 3rd rd picks for Vegas' 2025 2nd rd pick. Then you hope Vegas sucks next year (plus the year after 1st) to keep that 2nd at <50.
  23. How embarrassed would you be to have the handle, "Andrew Mangiapane is the best Breadman"? Credibility swirling straight down the toilet. lol
  24. That's awesome, boss! I kinda suspected the fix was in and td and rd conspired to have us miss the playoffs.lol When things got dicey, they brought in medats ho to seal the deal! It was all a conspiracy. So 2021. The steal is on!!
  25. I should also point out Hronek was 2016 53rd oa. We really haven't had picks that would be coming to fruition in the now. More often than not, we were the team trading those picks. That's what excites me. We got some solid prospects last year, and even more this year. 1st pick is 1st pick. Way too much is made of it when you're outside of top 3. I think 5 picks in the top 75 is awesome, and something that we're really not used to. We're going to be getting some really good prospects with all of those picks.
