  1. Tough loss to the NYR 3-2 after taking a 2-1 lead into the 3rd. Played a pretty shoddy first of too much (not connecting) passes instead of shooting. Really got some momentum going in the middle frame until the dreaded TV timeout allowed the Rangers to regroup - I don't think TV timeouts get enough "credit" for being timeouts. Looked mainly tentative in the 3rd. A good effort all around without Larkin. The Fabbri-Copp-Berggren line was the D's best but also burned on the winner after a failed wrap-around by Burgers. One thing about the Rangers is they are a nightmare every time you make a mistake. Panarin is another version of Kucherov. Good effort by the Wings, defensively played a pretty great game which is promising to see. Both goalies played well. Ghostisbehere injured early in the 3rd after a hit from behind by Cuylle. Kostin went after him but Cuylle had fallen down. Result? Off-setting boarding and roughing penalties...*sigh* Ghostisbehere never returned. NYR cheerleading analysts denied it was a hit from behind to the point of almost blaming Ghostisbehere for not seeing him. Right up there with TBay... Still some troubles getting skating to start games/periods. Good game, good effort...move along.
  2. And so it begins... https://www.nhl.com/redwings/news/patrick-kayne-says-heart-is-in-detroit-signs-one-year-deal-with-red-wings-on-tuesday
  3. Social media is precisely what zero accountability would look like in society. Is sewage a strong enough word? Yet everyone flocks to twitter, and "influencers" get rich. Why tf can they be described as "influencers"? Talk about bludgeoning a word. Why not, "Attention Whores"? Kinda like calling an aggressive dog "reactive". Holy language twisting. Is the avg IQ at an all-time low? It was never great to begin with.lol
  4. It doesn't move my needle much. I view it as a cheap risk that's a decent one to take. Doesn't eat away all the cap space, so still room for moves if required. It's not a Hail Mary because they're doing well without him. Their record should actually be a bit better than it is imo, so it's not smoke and mirrors. Maybe Kane's still got it. My only concern is that Lalonde will try too hard to accommodate and wait for the old Kane, but that's a small concern. Lots of depth so that's unlikely. Hopefully he does well or he sits. Perhaps I'll eat these words, but I'm more hoping Fabbri stays healthy(I prolly just cursed it). Such a dynamic player, but can't help himself by getting injured being way too aggressive on the forecheck. Time and time again...him and Raymond could be unreal together. Many were trolling Yzerman for all the offseason adds, but they were all pretty concise. Not sure why Lyon needed time, nursing injury maybe, but it's time to move Reimer out. He did well as a stopgap, but I don't see a point in keeping him now. Husso and Lyon are a pretty solid tandem. People talk about how goalies are, "quiet back there". Reimer is the polar opposite. Every shot is an adventure. Hasek at 40% of the athleticism.lol Tough one tonight vs NYR. Hopefully they don't spot the 5-0 lead before showing up this time. If so, start the comeback earlier...Larkin's out DTD, I think he's been fighting through the injury since the Sens in Sweden. Jonny Burgers called up. Compher to 1C. Hopefully missing the wheel with the biggest wings doesn't hurt too badly.
  5. Zero surprise at all. Hawks fans will now despise him. lol So sure...I guess so. Had cap, likely not finding another player of his calibre to use it for this year. We've gotten better defensively, but DeBrincat and now Kane are albatrosses on that side of the puck. So keep the puck in the north end. Scoring isn't a problem at all. Add Lalonde has run 11/7 a fair bit this year. I should likely be more excited, but I like the leadership dynamic without him. Will Larkin rip on Kane? Remains to be seen, but I hope so.
  6. I thought neither were playing particularly well, which is kind of an expectation for rookies. Not saying that will be the norm, but there will be some wear, particularly for a 3rd game in 4 nights. Their last lesson is what a meat grinder this league can be. Time to rest up! I missed the 3rd, but it's kinda fun seeing the team beat back on Nelly's and eventually change their minds. Imagine if pro athletes gave up as quickly as their fans?lol They're here for a reason. I'm negative towards Backlund and Andersson, but I've always been, I just try to hide it most of the time. Andersson has to hide behind stats imo, and I do like the Backlund that plays with jam, a lot. It just hasn't been there near as much as it hasn't. But I lovveee having 2 goalies and not doing the "hot hand" or "stats vs x team" thing. Start either with confidence. Don't amplify bad games, or even bad stretches. Showing faith rarely goes unrewarded. Special shout out to @taz89, it's that kind of fed up that the team has to prove wrong!! He's hardly alone. But 4 pts out of THAT 3 game set is more than a little impressive.
  7. Amazing GDT, so awesome!! And, of course, I'm a smartass...lol...
  8. I view it more as he doesn't risk the line. It bothers me sometimes when he looks too conservative, but it's a better philosophy on the whole. Maybe you'll win that puck, but it's a Satoshi Nakamotoshow if you don't. Better off to just regroup.
  9. I was sure it wasn't just me/us that Andersson has looked awful on the PP. I'm sure it's being caught on tape by opposing coaches as well. He's just completely indecisive so they're pressuring him more imo. Too many mistakes going on with him. Holding the puck too long to find the shot, holding the line with too much risk, shot/pass decision-making is off the rails, pretty much the whole kettle of fish. Literally just stand in the middle. As soon as you get the puck, put it on/near net through traffic or pass it and be ready if it comes back to repeat. Way overthinking it drifting with the puck all of the time. Teams can key in on you holding the puck too long. Mix it up. Hopefully Hanifin/Weegar just move the darn biscuit. Can't have PPs where the majority of your guys barely get touches.
  10. First time in 3 years not getting Buchnevich only hurts more that I wound up with Kyrou. Kyrou and Necas as my RWs from draft is painful af. You know it's bad when Sprong is your best option, no offense to him.
  11. Still no Honzek for the Giants, next game is Friday Dec. 1st.
  12. Lyon looking good in his 3rd game, up 3-1 on Minny with 5mins left. 33 shots against so far. It's gotta be time to lose Reimer... Team's having a good season even with a handful of letdowns. 4th in the conference after this win, 2nd in GF, 3rd in differential. Still room to clean up defensively, Husso hopefully playing better now that the new child has been borne. The off season adds have all generally added stability in a lot of areas.
  13. 3 games in 4 nights of Dallas, Avs and Vegas....but in fairness, this is the Wings near regularly so can't really make excuses. Just a lot of really good teams, so not much point worrying who the opponent is.
  14. No winning streak for me=( Good teams have PPs. I'd take that whole thing apart and do a different mix of players. Top 6F/2D cannot guarantee prime PP minutes with this group. Put Gilbert on the point.lol It would literally make zero difference from what they're doing now. Getting entries was the big problem. They can get entry and then the PP looks even worse. EVERYBODY standing still, wtf? Just dump and chase so your guys are moving coming in. Every PK is plqying high to deny entries now, it has killed the Wings PP. There's no pretty way to gain entry currently. Dump and chase to death until they start cheating deeper to carry it in. Mix it up...that's my take.
