  1. His agent even. Talk about not being forthcoming with ANYONE. Even made his agent look terrible. Talk about burning bridges right to the ground.
  2. You honestly believe Ekblad covered for Weegar? Dude, no.
  3. JG was down-to-the-wire offered what he wanted. Said no. Now we want to paint this as, "oh such a hard decision". Whatever. Best of luck to Columbus dealing with a little kid afraid to get in trouble, then can't understand the backlash for wasting everyone's valuable time. Sometimes, you've gotta call a spade a spade. Take us to the wire, we offer what you want, you still say no. Thanks for the giant f%$& around.
  4. You are always entertaining jj. Glad you're back.😉
  5. And Markstrom. JG couldn't be our MVP last year because Markstrom split the vote. Peeps wanna run him down for his last 5 games, but we weren't there in the first place without him.
  6. Had it been Gaudreau, I'd have hated the contract. We've done nothing but spin tires with him. I'm very happy with this change of direction. The cap will go up. I'll like Weegar's deal too, I'm sure. It could be $8per honestly. JG & Tkachuk would equal $20mil per for 8 years. I did not love that idea. Call me crazy, but I prefer Huberdeau and Weegar under that number. I can't believe how many Flames fans that were sour on Tkachuk's play are turning around now thinking that he's a huge loss. But he was brought up being taught respect. So my hat goes off to him for being a man about it. I have a whole new respect for him. Words you never heard me say: JG-Lindholm-Tkachuk, best line in the NHL. Never believed that. People love shiny numbers.
  7. I'm fine with trashing him. He plays for Columbus.lol What, I'm supposed to respect other teams' players now?
  8. I just wish that our twitter peeps were as golden as the Canes peeps. Makes me like the Canes just for consistently making me laugh.
  9. Humour break...did anyone see Carolina's tweet after acquiring Patches for future considerations? These guys are flipping god-level.
  10. Who knew that "future considerations" were also attached to the Bennett deal?lol
  11. I have zero problem with the deal. It's good for both sides. Not like we can't extend him, and it's in his benefit to wait for a better Cap environment. It helps us now to manage the cap. I think this is a great deal for both sides. Will he get a big raise later? More than likely, he's kinda doing us a solid in the current flat cap situation. It takes 2 sides to negotiate. The only downside is the term, but this deal is what both sides agreed was best. In the right now, it's a great deal for us. It kinda helps us get Huberdeau and Weegar inked and see where the cap is going in the next couple of years.
  12. I'm good with that. Less is a bargain. Might take $7.5?
  13. Where once we had Duhatschek. I'm enjoying reading the r/hockey subreddit re this signing reading from fans of other teams.
  14. The Athletic's reporting is getting worse and worse. Comparing any of those guys is laughable. I cancelled my subscription last year and just use read only mode if I want to read anything from them. They're turning into the same clickbait as everyone else. Imho.
  15. Ryan Leslie dropped this tweet last night and everyone wondered, "wtf"? lol
  16. But it's hot on the heels of BT going to visit Huberdeau. So it makes perfect sense. I much prefer JH over JG at this contract. I've watched a lot of both.
  17. I just found out. I haven't heard those words out of your mouth in a long time.lol Now this is a player to build around. It's always important to remember that this guy made Bennett and Duclair, even Tippett, look really good. So if you know how to skate... We have ourselves a no-nonsense leader. And I believe I can hear a Panthers bandwagon choosing their new fave WC team. The number is the number. He's more than earned it. Cap will go up. Johnny can set pt records in contract years. Jonny does it whenever he wants. Get Weegar done and there will be zero question that we destroyed Florida with that trade.:)
  18. You can just never be sure after an offseason when that might be the right answer. Injecting youth into lineups can occasionally be beneficial. We don't really know because we've never really tried. Even Lafreniere didn't look good for a couple of seasons but you just know that he'll be a great player. The A is great seasoning for playing adult hockey, but it's never going to make a younger player mistake-free at the NHL level. I'm not saying let's do that, but let's face it, we also have a couple of roster players that are replaceable by younger players. I mean, Lucic has run out of skills outside of attitude and try hard. NYR spent a few yrs shuffling kids around, now their kid line looked good in the playoffs.
  19. I'd assume we'd like to add 2 more forwards? Even with Ruzicka and Pelletier we're at 12f... It's hard to visualize who we could add beyond losing Lucic's cap hit. Are we going back to Brett Ritchie? edit oops, 13 forwards with Monahan.
  20. The answer is probably staring us right in the face.lol I still think Dube will hit his stride. That kid does too much well to not quite get there. He just got a full season with Sutter. He’s been told. Offseasons are a huge deal. FA&FO territory. There’s a world of make or break that happens in the offseason. Kind of why I like Huberdeau-Lindholm-Dube I want a roster putting our best learner with our best players while they’re here. Source: Penguins They’ve elevated a lot of young players by giving them primo chances with their best. Great map.
  21. I think we now have the option of not needing 4 fwds on the PP. Maybe Huberdeau-Lindholm-Toffoli Weegar-Anderson? PP2 is a bit of a crapshoot. Mony and Dube are huge question marks this season.
  22. NYR have entered the chat.
  23. The Carpenter signing was a mistake. Ruzicka didn’t have to clear waivers so he kinda got the shaft, not because Carpenter’s better. Pelletier has a great opportunity but I agree with what you’re saying. By the same token he’s cleared hurdles quickly. This is his last one. We’ll see if the trend continues. He’s got a lot going on, not many holes in his game. On another note, Lucic goes to Rask’s wedding and all of a sudden the Bruins want him back.lol Hysterical. Both he and Mony are off the books next year, let’s leave at that. Rome wasn’t built in day.
  24. Great thought. That would mean Ruzicka comes and rips a top 3 C spot. Stranger things have happened. Kylington is a good 20min/game 4D option. Who saw that coming? I sure didn't.
  25. The only thing that I agree with is sneaking them back down during the season. It becomes a whole other context. But even then, mgrs would still rather make a deal. Minus Arizona, I think. They're not doing great with that mindset...
