    Should/could we trade Huberdeau + 16th overall for Montreal's 5th overall?

Wow give hubs a chance first yr was a bomb but lets see what he does next yr plus do you think that # 5 pick will be a better player than Hubs? Do we not have a chance at first over all in the draft?

Discussed in other threads but hopefully this can focus on what's next for the Flames as it's been made official today that Treliving is out as GM.

This wasn't a surprise but honestly Maloney to POHO was for me. I know he is well thought of in that org but looks like he will be tasked with finding the new GM.

Futa and Lombardi are names that are going to be thrown around but I personally don't see that happening. Wouldn't make sense to me to hire Maloney to bring in someone like Lombardi. Futa is a maybe.

I think Conroy will get real consideration and should.

    My personal list:

Eric Tulsky (He's personally the only person out there that I want but for the purposes of discussion i'll add more)

    Jason Botterill

    Craig Conroy

    Jason Karmanos

Just so long as they don't move Sutter up as GM again what a cluster F that would be.

    You crack me up.

    Am I missing something though?

Where did he have a point per game in the MHL?

Still waiting for tha last Russian we drafted (while in Russia) to come over.

Finally some one who makes sense every rushkioe we have picked have failed to make itr to Canada plus the way things are going over there why would we risk a pick on them.

  5. Some one was making noises about BT might be having his last hurrah saying being out there last knight being with the kids could be his last? Then they started talking about a new Gen and all of a sudden they mention sutter OH my god please no he will put us back to the stone age.

  6. So Pellets been here for 23 games and hasn't done all that much why are we not given Phillips a better shack it is not fair Phillips has bleed blood for our system he should be up here right now. Is it because he will probably not resign here? I'm not positive what G6 means ?

Thats my thought once it gets worse for Russia I will bet the Chinese will be coming across in droves and then China will also attack Taiwan at the same time it's over as we know it.

Seems to me we haven't done very well with Russia to this point we need to get some top players we are sure will sign with us and not NCAA player's I know we got got Coronato but he was not a top player but a first none the less which I know I had a couple conversations about I'm not a fan of college players only because I'm not a secure person when it comes to how ppl think and yes I am proof of that .

Because every team is thinking this.   So they are at a discount.

These players are not going to have an impact for 5 years.    Ukraine/Russian war isn't likely to go on that long.   I mean if it does we've got bigger problems than hockey.

What about,  Not trading them away?  lol

He was an odd case yes, and an example where stats would have pulled him out of the haystack in a very difficult year to to scout.

I did not see enough in him to draft him in our spot, I must admit.   But I was an advocate of getting Something back for all our assets we were about to lose, and was hoping for more than 1 first round pick.   We could have got it done.

Really, you are making the arguement that our first round picks haven't really been That bad.    We have almost nothing to show for all of the above, but I concede to your point maybe there are other problems to solve for that.     I mean I admit, the picks above don't look aweful, except maybe Zary, who is too soon to make a call on.  But:

    1.   A lot of missing picks there.

    2.   A lot of missed opportunities not necessarily bpa related but simply not having many or any picks.

    3.  Going back further in our first round history, a lot more of nothing.

Other than Conor Mc Draisaitl  look at all there first over alls and top 6 picks the mediocrity of the oilers they for the first time have made it to the top in standing and they had to get MdyD Draisaitl and then you look at us and what we did with what we had I think we won

For these next two games would be a perfect opportunity to play Pellts-Ruzie-Scoronato on the 4th line.

Both Anaheim and Chicago are not deep enough to have to worry about a mismatch. And speed against those teams would surprise them on the 4th line

Duehr seems to be getting better and better why would you take away from his ability to produce points on the 4th line but I would love to see coronato on any line to see where he is at playing on the bigs

  11. Look I love my team but we need some quality players we just sign 2 over the hill players for most of our cap space and they turned out to be a huge lose this yr ok not the cap space but very scary the next coming yrs perhaps they do better next yr but these guys are way pass there prime ok maybe not way pass but in 5 yrs they will be bought out and we will be on the hook for over 6 mil for hubs and over 3 for weager and chucky out pointed both of them  by 7 points thats right both of them. Now I guess the system sutter has them playing might have something to do with it but i'm not knowledgeable enough on the system to have an opinion on his system but you ppl on here do so tell me am I on drugs and every thing will be ok next yr ?.

I think the option of losing big is less of a reality than winning big.  Right now a potential lotto pick is 12 pts away even if the Flames lose the remaining games theres only a handful of teams that could pass them.  And even then there still the lottery odds to rely on so unless the plan was to full tank from here on they would still need to try and trade up the draft ladder to get a decent lotto chance.

The destiny of a mid to late teens pick is pretty much fulfilled.

So if we end up with a 50-50 win lose could we pick up a good top 10 player?

  13. I don't understand why we are working towards wins we need some top prospect we will lose Phillips next season and a few more good ones and we sign a player who will never see the NHL probably not even make here from across the pond or am I missing something ? Do you guys actually think we will get pass the first round the way our goalies are playing? I know anything can happen once we get into the playoffs but even when we were first in the pacific we didn't get pass the 1st round and that was when Marky was at his best how will we get pass the first when he can barley stop a beach ball? Do you think Sutter will bring up wolf for the playoffs I highly doubt it so lets go for a good quality first round player.

  14. Seems every time Ed gets a chance at a top 6 picks the rules stay the same but now that Ed is no longer a low draft pick team all the rules change heaven for bit Calgary might get the opportunity to get a decent pick

If we squeak into the playoffs (and lose round 1) or miss by a point, there isn't a lot of difference in the draft number we get.  We just lose out on a small chance (1.5% or something) of moving up 10 spots. 16 gets you a small chance at 6th overall.  17th is close to 16th.

As far as next year's pick, it depends.  MTL only can get it if it's 20th to 32nd.  And they don't have to.  Otherwise they get the 2025 pick (best between FLA and our own).  Confusing, but we traded a conditional 2025 1st to MTL.

Please correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the Jets get a top 3 pick even though they were around top 15 in picks before draft balls ?

    It's a win-win for everyone.

Sadly, now I'm just waiting for everyone to blame Sutter for not playing him every time we lose from here on out.lol

First off I'm glad to say I was wrong About Coronato should have bet me any way I hope Calgary loses every game that gives us a desent pick this up coming Draft if we managed to get into the play offs we wouldn't get far with this goalie tandem so no quality pick and nothing to show for it I want the opertunity for high quality pick next yr we don't have a first I believe because we bought a stupid sell out Mony which I will never understand?
