  1. lol…. if you want to be taken seriously then i would suggest stop making up narratives that try to make it sound like you know better than anyone else. Hard to participate in threads when they are just layered with nonsense. Jankowski is without question the most controversial first round pick for the Flames I’ve ever seen.
  2. Surprised by that one. That was a really well played in the last 4-5. Excellent defending.
  3. Is there any other way this team can operate?
  4. We’ll see… Jets are gonna get a lot of chances in the next 4 mins with the way the flames are playing.
  5. Flames gonna sit back on this one. Makes sense but jot something they’ve been good at this year see if the result is different
  6. Funny thing is, is prior to this season that was not his game. His strength in Colorado, and in part why he had such a great year, was how effective he was distributing the puck in the o zone. It's traditionally be a strength of his. Also wasn't why he has success early in the season. What i've seen in Kadri is he has tried to change his game and now he's in a situation where he's gotten away from his strengths. Playing with Huberdeau forced him to be a different player, forced him to have the puck more, be more of a shooter, try and find open areas and it doesn't play to strengths. It was a terrible pairing and I've just seen Kadri's game get worse and worse ever since to the point now he's just in his own head. Perhaps a potential rift with the coach make it worse but this isn't the type of player Kadri has been in his career. Not trying to, nor will I, excuse his effort level but his style of game has changed drastically this year and I'm not sure he deserves all the blame for it.
  7. You ask for vets on your 4th line, you overplay them, then you sit players who could give you jump and energy, to turn around and blame fatigue. not to mention a goalie who you've overplayed down the stretch too. That's Sutter's year in a nutshell. Over coached the heck out of this thing.
  8. I wouldn’t trust what they have him listed at. I’ve seen him and he’s bigger than that IMO. but it doesn’t really matter as until he can stay healthy it’s tough to give him a shot.
  9. I do. Think I'm year 11 or 12... can never remember. There is no more wait list though. They make it seem like there is but I've heard from multiple people who signed up and got offers immediately. There numbers have slowly dropped year to year and there having to get creative, offering half seasons, to get people to commit. I believe there is a section or 2 that has a wait list but if you want season tickets you an get them pretty easily.
  10. Just don't think this is fair/accurate nor is it a Flames problem. This is the type of stuff that I think you get blinded to as a fan and assume it's a team problem when it really isn't. Happens to all clubs. I also don't think the Flames have had a reoccurring problem of staring on time this year, just looks like that way because their goaltending has been crap this year. Marty St Louis had a great quote on this, the league is an 85% league. Over the course of a season you generally going to get 85% of a player's best. Sometimes more, sometimes less but it isn't feasible to get 100% of every player on every game of every season. Plenty of good plays Coronato can learn from including Sutter the coach.
  11. I think there is a lot of value in young players just being around NHLers. How do they approach the game, prepare both physically and mentally, what habits do they have. Can learn more from that they he will from a game or 2 IMO.
  12. I'm not sure i could have worded this better. Well said and captures my thoughts too. the only thing I would add is the excitement factor. Flames play a boring style of hockey so when you lose it just really drives you away even faster. Even in loses last year I still enjoyed the game but this I don't. I get winning trumps all but I think when you charge your fans what you do you need to give them an exciting product and Flames have fallen well short in that area this year.
  13. To be fair Huberdeau was excellent last night. He should have had 3-4 assists. Set up some great plays. Think your getting the type of game you want from him.
  14. every Ducks goal was misplayed. First two shouldn’t go in, 3rd was awful rebound control and the 4th Vladar wasn’t in the right spot. He overplayed it to his right and gave up too much net. doesn’t mean they all should have been stopped as mistakes happen, just was a really tough night in net for both guys.
  15. goaltending. this game was not near as close as the score was. I didn’t like their first 10 but outside of that they dominated the game.
  16. Pretty hard to win with bad goaltending. This has been awful goaltending from the Flames tonight.
  17. I don’t think Coronato will play a game this year. The only scenario that’s every make sense to me is the last game of the year if it’s meaningless. I also don’t think that it matters near as much as its being talked about
  18. well to be fair all he was doing was correcting him original choice. The flames had their own farm team when he took the job (St John Flames) but he felt they didn’t have enough prospects to fill it. So to cut costs he advocated they get rid of it and then ended up sharing with Lowell. After a few drafts he felt they had enough of their own to re form their own team again and set it up in Omaha. Didn’t move to Abbotsford for a few more years. decision was a business one more so than development based one.
  19. IMO Zary is ready now and should be penciled into the lineup for next year. Schwidnt could surprise for sure. he's had an up and down season but much like Dueher you see some raw skills there that could translate for sure. I think is Pospisil could stay healthy he'd already be given a shot but he just cant' unfortunately stay healthy. I think you also looking at names like Kuznetsov and Soloyvov that could challenge for depth roles on the blueline next year too. There is plenty of talent available you just need a coach wiling to use it.
  20. Think you need to take Sutter with a grain of salt when it comes to development. The Flames were terrible at it when he was the GM and he is a key reason why they wound up with such an entitled player in Phaneuf. I think it's ironic when he complains about entitlement because he had issues with that himself as the GM. Hindsight is 20/20 but we are quick to forget that Valimaki was fantastic in the NHL until he his hurt knee. It he didn't hurt is knee I think we are having a very different conversation about that player. Agreed. He's a great trade insider but I feel the same way about how he approaches Sutter. Not sure why but he's coming across like he's got an axe to grind. Likely whoever his "source" is within the Flames is feeding him some anti Sutter stuff. I'm not sure he even has that good a source within the Flames considering he claimed he knew for certain changes are coming and then followed it up with "don't ask what or how" but they are coming.
  21. No he cannot play in the AHL at all this season and cannot be assigned to the roster. Next season he is eligible.
  22. Then talk to the NCAA. Only reason this is a thing is the NCAA prohibits them from signing pro contracts because they would lose amateur status (even though college athletes are hardly amateur's anymore). CHL does not have the same rule and therefore players can sign deals at any point after they are drafted. This isn't an NHL problem. Literally no one knows this. to say this is "risky" is making up a problem that doesn't exist. This is about rules and contract procedures. This entire AHL thing is completely ridiculous because we are talking about a handful of games. There is nothing that prevents him from being in the AHL next season so the only issue here is a handful of AHL games. So now that he doesn't get to play a handful of AHL games it's going to impact his development? Silly.
  23. Not how it works no. Once he signed his NHL deal for this season he cannot be assigned to the AHL. Again the only way he was playing in the AHL this season was on a try out agreement and in order to be eligible for that he cannot be under an NHL contract.
  24. Not if his NHL deal starts now. The only way to sign an ATO would have been to have his NHL deal start next season and as I mentioned the risk with that was he goes back to school given he doesn't' really gain much by signing his deal starting next year. He had a say in this too. It's a negotiation.
  25. As I recall it, the key motivation for Gaudreau going back for his 3rd year was he wanted to play with his brother Matthew, who was a freshman at BC at the time.
