My assessment of Pelletier was an excellent compliment to high end skill.

I am scared to say it, but the way he took the puck away down low and set up Duehr, looked akin to a guy who used to wear 13 here. NOT THE SAME, but similar qualities. I would like to see a game with Pelts and Ruzie together, smart hockey players.

Last nights game was enjoyable to watch. To me the presser looked like Sutter was trying to be funny, like some have said. It’s like when your grandpa is trying to be funny and you’re kind of laughing, kind of wondering if he’s serious. It was one of those moments. Someone else said that they all probably laugh about the pressers later together over dinner. I think that this is very true, I also think Sutter is not a Francis fan, and gives him garbage on purpose, lol (I love that). For me regarding the coach, if you look at the bench at the end of the game after Hubie scored the empty netter. He came over and leaned in between Looch and Hubie and said something that made them both laugh. That’s not a coach that is losing the room, he is doing what he needs to, to build a winner. Also Pelletier had PP time, I think that tells you everything you need to about how Sutter feels about him.

I would’ve been shocked if he said something different. Was it last year when he was really really hard on Dube (or the year before)? He is a donkey some times, but he knows how to turn people into true NHLers. And I want Pelletier in the lineup

I know everyone is on Hubie for not shooting, and I even yelled at my TV to shoot in the dying minutes there. But his creativity to try and open up a seam to Mang on a high danger deflection, versus a low percentage shot, is exactly why he is fighting it. A system that encourages high volume shots is a hard concept for him because he is too creative to simply fire pucks at the net.

Thataboy Big Z, he needs a bit of that nastiness to his game. I love it Buries Perry two times, big hit on Paul, Perry losing his mind in the box.

There are many scouting gaffes, made by all organizations. But since you brought up JG……. For me that year (2011), we missed atrociously. In the 1st round we took Baertschi (which I’m actually ok with), because he was taken roughly where he was supposed to go, he didn’t pan out, but it happens. In the 2nd round we had two picks, where we took granlund and wotherspoon. I have on good authority that someone in the flames organization had identified that the two must have players for them was Gaudreau and Kucherov. But because we took Baertschi and Granlund already, Burke said that a defenseman has to be taken next, and thus Kucherov escaped us. That one burns me

I have a question for all of you. With Looch playing up with Hubie, it has forced Hubie to the right side more often than not. Sutter moved Tkachuk from Left Wing to Right wing with great success, and now Chucky is considered a RW by most accounts. I wonder if his thinking is that he struck gold with Chuck, he is hoping for a similar result with Hubie? If he turns him into a strong offhand RW, I believe it compliments our roster better in the longterm and works much better (with his favourite) right hand shot centers. Am I trying to hard to find something? Or is there merit to what I’m thinking?

Your propensity to move Kadri is very short sighted I think. He has never been a winger ever and is a career 49% FO guy. Not something to write home about, but not a problem that’s worth fixing with extreme tact. He needs a better puck pursuit and puck possession winger on his right side, someone like Ruzie could be close.

I have also known Ruzie on the PP, I wonder what a PP 1 of Anderson up top. Ruzie on the Left Boards Hubie on the Right boards, Lindy in the Bumper spot, and Kadri either in front of the net or winning board battles down low. Then on PP2, go with Toffoli and Weegar up top with Backlund Mang and Dube buzzing around, just give it a different look then PP1, so the team is forced to read and react to what you’re doing.

Flames look like they’re determined to have the most 1 goal games in a season, even to the detrimentally aging fan base who have to watch these games, lol
